- 🇲🇲 Ever wanted to try cold noodles for breakfast? No me neither, but I did it so that you don't have to! That's just the kind of guy I am! Check out the slimiest meal in Myanmar and feel lucky you never have to eat it 🤢
Plot twist: That was no restauraunt he just walked into the home of some random family and ate their lunch

My dad told me of a co worker he used to work with that did this in Pakistan or something. She misread some sign and walked into someones home and sat down at the table and made a folding gesture with her hands to signal that she wanted a menu. The owner of the house was really nice about it and they had a good laugh and she left.
Then man say; "no those are yesterday noodles for our dog"

It's a family run - mom and pop type of eatery, very common in many Asian countries. The interesting thing here is this family makes their own fresh noodles out of rice flour instead of serving their customers boiled (dry) noodles from a package.
1:52 the reason they're laughing at you is you just poured soap on your noodles. That is for cleaning your fingers. You ate noodles with SOAP my dude. No wonder they didn't taste very good lmao

That type of noodle is called "mee shay" in burmese and the dish you are having is called noodle salad. The powder is the bean powder and it is commonly used in most of burmese salad dishes. The brown color comes from the oil that has been fried with garlic or shalot.There are better version of it when you visit other city. There are a lot of delicious dishes that are yet to be known to the world and I hope you will find them along your trip.
In all my time in SE Asia, and I'm talking 12 years in countries from Thailand to Indonesia (living in many), Burmese food was by far and away the worst food I've ever eaten. Full of fat and generally bland.

Mi Ke u were scammed, coz i lived in s/e asia and i found burmese food amazing. But of course i knew people from there. Going as a tourist, knowing how undeveloped on the tourist side burma is, im not surpised.

Those cold noodles are actually called Nan Gyi Thoke, the most common breakfast in Myanmar. 😅 Well what Mr. bald tried was poorly made with very less amount of the ingredients. So It would had tasted a little bit better without the soup, and it needed to be stirred further more. 😅 Also u should have gone for the Burmese Stick rice instead of this one.. that tastes way better..

Dang Bald, hope your culinary experience will improve. I've not been to Burma, but had some Burmese friends in Malaysia and I used to relish being invited to their home for dinner. I also met a lady who had a Burmese restaurant in Hong Kong, she used to be a chef at the U.S. Embassy in Rangoon and the meals I had there I still consider the most enjoyable and tasty I've had. Foods were colourful, light, fresh, fragrantly and visually appealing and like a perfect blend of Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisine.
Dude your expectations for a 20 cent noodle bowl is way to high.... take it easy bro 😂😂

Well, the meal that you had is just an another different kind of "Monhinga" called "Watery noodle Monhinga" where you can only find in that region. (Obviously, "Monhinga" is originated from Ayeyarwady, Delta region but the taste and ingredients will definitely be varies according to cities/regions.)
The most unique taste of Monhinga that you can find will be in Yangon, Mandalay and Ayeyarwady divisions.

You're not supposed to pour the soup into noodles. That's why it tasted bad. The noodle is suppoesd to eat thick. That's why it is served together with soup.

I remember getting lost in Mandalay, Burma trying to find a non existing market in the outskirts of the city and being very hungry. No shops no restaurants nothing until we found an old woman with a huge pot on wheels in the middle of the street with sticks pointing out of it, we had a meal with the locals, at the end of the sticks was meat (who knows from which animal) accompanied by cold noodles and a red sauce the woman mixed with her hands before you could eat it. Weirdest dish I've had in Asia so far ahah

I'm pretty adventurous with eating local food when I travel, but I found food in Burma was really bad. And it almost killed me as I got the worst food poisoning I've ever had (and I've had it everywhere).
U can walk on foot from india to nepal , bangladesh,mayanmar,bhutan but not pakistan.
