Omg, this is such a great video! Yeah, like I was born HOH, and I got Oticons, and because of being so integrated into the hearing world, it took so long for me to accept my deaf/HOH identity, which I felt shamed for, for so long. So thank you so much. Plus, you've got an amazing scarf!
Noah Clark yeah I feel you. It took me like forever to accept who I am too. And finally I got to accept who I am. ASL is so beautiful because they can show you facial expressions & body language. By the way, aww thank you! 💕💕
Wow! I really impressed that you told a story! You made me to remember. I didn’t accept my daughter is deaf but I learned how to deal with it. And I love you always! ❤️
Thanks for sharing your story! I am so glad your parents respected you and your right to make a HUGE choice about CI'S. It is awesome they all learned to sign so they could communicate with you! I have five children and I am right there with you, I don't understand how you could refuse to learn signing if you had a Deaf child. How could they tell you anything and how could you as a parent protect them the way you are supposed to without good communication? Every child deserves a family who loves and supports them the way your wonderful family did.
Thanks for sharing your story. I'm not actually deaf myself, but I've gotten a bit curious about the personal experiences of people who are deaf. Thanks for including the subtitles.
That is such a wonderful story! As a HoH person involved with Deaf culture, I am very shocked that your father thought about that! A lot of parents don't stop to think about how their child will be in the future- will they like a CI? Do they want to be apart of the "hearing culture" or "hearing world"? That is actually impressive. Applause to your father! I am also very happy that they are learned/ are learning ASL... Well, SEE as of now. Lol. In 8 days, I will be heading to college to major in ASL to become an ASL teacher since it's a huge passion of mine. I don't know how difficult it's going to be since all I know is PSE right now, but I only hope for the best. Loved hearing your story by the way!
Psycho G thanks :) yeah I shocked that my father thought about how I feel if I get CI. Yeah, you’re right. They just don’t realize deaf people do have a lot of options and have a normal life like hearing people do. :) ah, gotcha! Happy for you that you’re interested to become asl teacher! I’m pretty sure you will be fine lol also, I’m happy people who are motivate to learn asl, learn their culture and everything. Because I feel like they show interesting/ supporting/ caring to make us to feel.. part of this world instead of leave us out. :)
Completely agree! I'm so excited when people want to learn about our culture and life style. I've had a huge passion for ASL for roughly 2 and a half years now. The only thing I absolutely HATE is when someone only wants to learn ASL or another Sign Language only for the cuss words - like no thanks! 😅 I get defensive because as for someone who uses ASL everyday of my life and is involved in Deaf culture, it's very frustrating knowing that's why people wanna learn. On the subject, I wish more schools taught ASL, BSL, etc.. I also wish more parents/guardians thought as yours did. I'm glad they made the decision of waiting till you were old enough to understand about CIs, Deaf culture, and everything else.
thank you for sharing your story! i am learning asl and i understood some parts of the story 😂😊 i cant wait until the day when i wont need the captions to watch your videos!
Zoe Arellano that’s awesome! Lol yup, you will learn faster with asl and understand quickly than you thought. 😉 keep up! 👍🏼 and I’m glad you understood some is better than nothing.😁 👏🏼👏🏼
Caprice Becerra glad you enjoyed it! Lol my parent took classes in high school (I don’t remember which school).. at evening time in Los Angeles, California.
Oh I see I thought your parents learning from free regular class teaching. Because I want my family to learn to go take classes. I don’t know how do I find it.
Caprice Becerra I’m glad you asked me. yes they took free classes. I googled it and they does have free asl classes on online. 😉 www.signlanguage101.com and there’s few options you can choose on 👉🏻 www.lifewire.com/free-sign-language-classes-online-1357048
Rosario Libreros yeah some people born hearing but somehow they get sick, they got hearing loss. I was born deaf 100%. I had to wear hearing aids for school. But I hated it. & Right now, i don’t wear hearing aids anymore. Thanks for sharing your story :)
