  • Personal - the roof project is here AND our upstairs neighbors are remodeling. So it’s LOUD. Imagine you have a boss who has no higher level reasoning or emotional self-regulation and then makes your workspace loud. That’s my life. My daughter is my daughter but is also my boss as a full-time mom so being the best sweetest mom is a daily challenge with a toddler. Like just put your shoes on. Then add the noise. There is a finite end date. But …
So moving on from that stress, let’s talk about being a mompreneur.
This phrase implies I am both a mom and an entrepreneur. And I still run a business. My books, this channel, are a business. But I have massively cut back. I’m not doing consults anymore, I’m not taking on clients. I knew my runway of guaranteed productivity would last as long as my toddler napped, and she has started to refuse those. She does quiet time, but she still is in that phase where she is testing the limits and pops out often and asks for water or something else. So it’s chaotic.
My husband and I are having to get creative about when I can get work done and when we need to just be able to spend time together. And of late I’ve had a few people reach out saying “Can we connect?” “Can I steal a few minutes to catch up?”
No. No, you may not. I don’t have a few minutes. If you can find them, sure, you can have them. So It’s frustrating because I feel like I’m losing touch with people, I’m not able to connect as well or as consistently, but I want to show up for my kid. But she’s a toddler and we’re dealing with the toddler stage which is frustrating at times. It feels like a losing battle to try to carve out time for my work and my business but I also don’t want to sacrifice time with her now because she is growing up so fast.
And I still have people reaching out asking for help. People referred to me by my bigger name clients. And I feel like I’m missing out. I feel regret when I say no, I can’t help, here are some resources. But I have to say no. And now I’ve said it so much it feels like a default.
I keep saying I built it once, and I can build it again when I have more time. But I wonder if I will want the same type of business when that time comes.
Being a mompreneur is as rewarding and challenging as ever.

You still connect great or I would not be listening to this. Toddler age is tough and that should always be your first priority. Hang in there.

Its the worst!!! But also it's exciting to get to take her on longer day-trips now that we don't have to plan our whole life around them.
