My husband bought the exact same color 68 Torino GT 390 in 1974 for $700.00. I already had a triple black one, and he wanted his own. Great cars! They were our first cars as husband and wife.

When I was a kid my dad had a Black Jade '69 with the 428cj. Man, I cried when he sold it during the gas crisis. It was immaculate. I have slides I shot right before he sold it.
The neighborhood kid who bought it totalled it.
My dad's uncle had a black' 68 that he put a 428cj in. I believe his son still has it.

I still can’t believe He built that car Bottom to top…And in case your wondering yes I’m his grandson. I watched him build it…In fact I learned a lot. I learned a lot about patience. I always asked him What he was going to do with it, and before my eyes, I Saw so much Beauty and Awesomeness….If anyone wants to see the car…We go to a lot of car shows at 67th And bell road on Saturday Nights…By the autozone….stay safe everyone. Have fun.

Hi and thanks for watching! We LOVE your comment and can really tell how much you love your Grandfather! We think he's pretty awesome too! We see him and the car fairly regularly out and about and he always show his "feature license plate" too!

@@IfThisCarCouldTalkI can only imagine…He goes out ALOT to car shows. Sometimes every weekend, Sometimes every other weekend.
He actually had 2 1969 Grand Torinos. He used the 2nd one for spare parts. It is completely broken down. I’m sure it’s valuable to someone. But he uses it for spare parts…😂
I am so proud of him. I watched him sweat every day. Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring. ALWAYS working on it. It really paid off. He won’t even let his daughter drive it…”Underdtandable”:/
I remember the look on his face when he got the “Letter” that you wanted to make a video.
If you ever go to twin falls Idaho. We have a friend who has probaly 50 Cars. Some broken down. He is getting finished rebuilding a 1969 Corvette Stingray. It looks awesome. I’ll take a Pic and Make a post of it for you. It will have to be around October.
By the way. Sorry for not acknowledging your comment. Meant alot tho. I had been busy then I forgot. Thanks again for posting a Video about the car…Has to be the BEST video on your channel..😂
You should’ve Gone to the Park…It’s like 4 miles away….Would’ve been a really good scenery….You only went like a Mile or 2 away LOL😂 Fire video tho.

OMG! I'm glad you clarified the ownership history early in the video because I was seriously wondering if this was my grandpas old Torino. Unfortunately I became the caretaker of this wonderful car too early in life to be able to tend to it. After my wife had a mild crash that did in the radiator and core support I let this car go in around 1983. At the time it broke my heart because my grandpa and I were very close AND this was no ordinary Torino GT. My uncle Wes was the service manager at Walker Burge Ford in W.L.A. and my grandparents purchased a new car every couple of years from Mr. Miller the all knowing sales rep. The gold color was what attracted my grandma but she wanted an LTD which we would have had to order. Before we did Mr. Miller have my grandpa a wink and led us out to the back storage lot where a dusty gold Torino sat. My grandma asked why it was out here and Mr. Miller muttered something about it being in a test at Riverside. My grandpa wisely let it die but later after the purchase my Uncle Wes revealed the cars hidden story. This was the height of the muscle at era so we weren't strangers to fast cars but this Torino was a BEAST!! Easily outran any 396 Chevy or 383 Mopars which a stock 390 Torino would struggle to do. BUT. This car could outrun big block cars like 440 Mopars and 427's of the day. And it WAS NOT a 428 Cobra Jet car. According to my Uncle Wes, the car was a stock M code 325 horse 390 which I believe was the top dog 390 that year. Apparently after dealer delivery it was plucked and picked to go to Bill Stroppes shop in Santa Monica for preparation for this Riverside Total Performance deal. I have no idea what that event was. But the Torino had a small business card size sticker on the glass claiming the cars participation. This car has haunted me through the years especially as I became a car guy. What voodoo did Stroppe perform? Why was this car SO FAST? My Uncle Jerry had a 67 427 Corvette that the Torino could run beside in a street drag and BURY on a 35-49 MPH roll. The car in this video is pretty close minus the missing headrests. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane and sorry to be so wordy, but like I said that car haunts me

Lee Roy ❤❤Everyone remembers Cale but few remember Lee Roy. He was the leader of a mean pack of Torinos in those couple years. Even after the winged Mopars the Talmadge's versions were pretty dominant. Even after the change to small blocks the Torinos were tough

I bought my first car at 15 in 1990. 1968 Torino GT fastback with a 289. Gold with the black stripe. I even had a set with Keystones.
    I've owned a red '68 GT fastback. 302
    A '68 Fairlane 500 fastback. 351W
    A 1969 Fairlane 500 fastback. 390
    I have a 1969 Torino GT 390.
And I'm getting a '69 Cobra in May.
My dad had a red '69 ram air drag pack Cobra when I was born.
I've loved these cars my whole life.

WOW! You sound like us! Definitely love these cars. We also had a 1969 Cobra, drag pack, non-ram air automatic years ago and sure do miss that beauty! It was red with black buckets, console interior, am-fm. They are truly a beautiful design and fun to drive! Best of luck cruising in all your cool old Fords!

I have a red 68' gt with a built 302. Is there a big enough difference between that and a 390 or 428 to be worth the hassle and expense of replacing it? I already have the 9" rear

I built one of these from a model kit back in 1968. I remember the chrome wheels had a large center with the GT logo. Not sure if they were a model of a wheel or wheel cover but they sure looked cool!

I can take a deeper dive into this for you if you email me the vin number and a picture. Send any info to ifthiscarcouldtalk@gmail.com and I'll get back to you. Thanks for watching and commenting!
