ACA manuals for the original Hurricane said that it could come in 8/8 port, so this is what they would have sounded like if any were installed. The original Hurricane was always rare, so it is likely that none were installed. The first generation of hurricanes were avaliable in 10/12, 8/12, and 8/10 for dual tone. They came in 8/8, 10/10, and 12/12 for single tone. Dual tone models could have dampers installed.
I live in jefferson wisconsin so we have a aca screamer s10 but it is reverse wired and has a long winddown and thr intake is taped down and i must say, on attack it sounds amazing!
That’s actually a Screamer S-10. The only siren in the Screamer series that was 8 port is the S-10, which was offered in 9/12 dual tone and 8 port single tone.
@@lilaj34siren hurricanes came in single and dual tone. single tones were 8, 10, and 1 2's port and dual tones were standard 8/10, 10/12, and 8/12 port with 7/10 being rumored to have been available. Only 8/10 was used
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL The top of the siren is supposed to be separated from another skirt via some screws. There should be an opening. As you can see here there isn't really at all, the top cover is resting right on the intake
@@JMANWiSS yeah so it means that the intake is on top. I thought it is on the bottom, and the top is a motor housing. But it sounds pretty loud to me, but it really isn't good bc you can't hear it over a mile. Which is a problem. Really looks like the intake is not getting any air. They should replace it or get a skirt to separate the two cover, so the siren can get air easily
Yeah that's what I had heard. ED stopped using their sirens for weather a number of years ago now, both vortexes are turned off and abandoned if they haven't been removed all together by now.
Wow, this really does sound like a Hurricane. I’d totally mistake it for one if I didn’t see the screamer first!
Yeah.
With the fast windup and slow winddown, it sure does

Nate's Trains if only there were surviving examples
I don't think any were ever installed, but it is possible that a community had one at one point.

I think they bought it in the seventys
Now we just need the 10 port! And then it’ll sound just like a Hurricane! Only Omnidirectional!
Very interesting sound.
they used the same motor as the hurricane, or does it have a secret damper thats stuck shut
I use to live in east dubuque they had the sire on top of police station but took it down it was too loud
