- 'American Sasquatch' isn't your typical tour documentary; it's a raw, gonzo-style film capturing the Welsh rock band Super Furry Animals. Directed by Dyl Goch, the band's projectionist and an award-winning director, the documentary was shot over two years on a single camera. Providing an insider's perspective, it showcases the band's American tours, TV appearances, and recording sessions from 2002 to 2004, including the making of "Phantom Power."
Presented through the eyes of the road crew, the film features commentary from legendary guitar tech Les Morrison and others. Throughout the documentary, you'll find vox-pop interviews with American fans, and a dynamic sound design expertly crafted by SFA's Cian Ciaran. The documentary offers glimpses of musical peers such as Dead Meadow, Four Tet and Grandaddy, plus encounters with figures such as 1960s icon Wendy Flower and Newport rappers Goldie Looking Chain. Culminating with a montage of the iconic "The Man Don't Give a Fuck" performed live in Rio De Janeiro, the film unearths the band's evolution, challenges, and triumphs.
More than a tour film, 'American Sasquatch' delves into the heart of Super Furry Animals' artistic journey. In roughly one hour, it presents a multidimensional view of their camaraderie, growth, and unique musical fusion, resonating with dedicated fans and newcomers alike.

They were the best band ever. Can’t believe they stopped 14 years ago. 😢
They toured in 2016 in the UK anyway. I've seen them loads of times but the best time was when I was in the lighting booth at Leicester uni in the 90's absolutely baked😆
The hello sunshine bit is the whole point of living. Love you SFA...
Fantastic. This is peak SFAs for me, Rings and Phantom Power, so, so good.
My Dad loves Super Furry Animals. I’ve began listening to them and by gum they’re amazing!! Severely underrated!!
Frickin Awesome!
Super fav memories seeing this again. SFA were the Sleaford Mods of the day then. Even better now Gryff? x
Cariad SFA!!!!!!!👊❤
Return is imminent? 🤔
Perfect reminder to pop online and order my Phantom Power reissue.
The alliteration was not deliberate. Or was it?
SFA OK
My favourite band of my youth. Danced on the Techno Tank in Reading. Got thrown off the roof of the van in Glastonbury. And, went to NY to see them twice in a week.
Bunf also kicked my brother in the head in the Eisteddfod gig. Great Times.
Awesome
why bunf kick your brother?? Haha
@@dbh822 he'd crowd surfed one too many times over the barrier and landed at Bunfs feet and guitar pedals. He was just unpolitely telling my brother not to come back over the barrier again. Very mad times watching these lads.
Love this doc but could do with some Kliph sound enhancing. Sounds very tinny on my headphones.
What I’d give to see the Furries live again. 3:04
Yeah Gareth.... what a friggin' amazing band on all levels, one of a kind. I remember watching the video, just before they came on stage, where they picked each band member up on the "golf cart" and driving through crazy places etc for them then to arrive on stage in said golf buggy to screams of joy, laughter and sheer excitement of what was to follow next....which was basically a lesson on how to capture the hearts, minds and souls of a thousand or whatever it might of been, under 35 year olds. A beautiful, life affirming night. Thankyou SFA and all their fans 🙏
Captured during my favourite era of Furries, the one between Fuzzy Logic & Dark Days Light Years. A 2nd era would be good.
Welsh wizardry of the highest magnitude.
A thing of beauty. Saw them 6 times and it wasn't enough. SFA4EVER
One of my favorite bands. ..by the way, this is being released 15 years too late.
This was released many years ago. Have been searching for this for ages!
One of the greatest underrated bands of all time…Exceptional
Different lyrics?! Hope he was being ironic?! Kind of missing the point eh?!
I don't understand why SFA aren't the biggest band in the world. I mean this is how you do pop music and a pop career - entirely idiosyncratic, subversive and beautiful.
Drug takers will never be taken seriously
Fucking brilliant. I miss this band lot!❤❤❤
I've seen this before. A long time ago. Was it on a DVD or something?
Best band ever

Amazing band
Cani vhs you?
Epic. But not for mass consumption. Thats the point. Remember, the roar of the masses could be farts......
How can Pink Floyd be huuuuuuge (flying saucers) but SFA is not?? Strange.
Love SFA but this is poor editing and sound.
*Promosm*
Uh NOPE....dIG THEIR STUDIO STUFF BUT THIS AINT IT
My best night out ever was with an unhinged 6 foot 6 Welshman not watching but absorbing SFA, the mucky porter was vile but the band were inspirational. I had to have a quiet pint before the bus home to think about just what I had experienced. Newcastle upon Tyne 2019?
