Great happy song and vid!. Love Bad Manners!. Saw em a few times, Gigs a lot of fun and could be quite nuts! This was 1981 when they also had their biggest hit with "Can Can"!!
Chris , Blackpool is on the North West coast of England - when I was wee there were 2 choices of summer holiday depending on parents fiscal situation. If skint it was a Scottish holiday in Saltcoats or Rothesay - wee bit flush , it was a foreign holiday to Scotland by the sea ( Blackpool ) ! First 2 weeks in July was Edinburgh / East coast folk who went , 2nd 2 weeks in July it was the turn of the Glasgow/West coast folk to invade that town 😅 👍🏴
@@delorangeade I only added Blackpool del cos we had an Auntie who lived there , hence cheap holiday (in other peoples misery .. couldn’t resist )..but it was usually Saltcoats , I know every grain of sand on that storm lashed beach 👀… 👍🏴
I think Buster (and the band) were metaphorically speaking, like, we can create our own ‘sunshine’ … don’t let the weather put you off!😂 I liked ‘Lorraine’, just a feeling’, etc… the pure silliness of this band brings back fond memories
When England in summer , nice to visit the beach ⛱️ of Brighton but bring shoes because the shoreline is rocks not sand ! You can see all the places where Quadrophenia was filmed 🇬🇧 !
Go to Filey Bay, a beautiful stretch of sand and often in the top ten world beaches. Blackpool is for tourists only . Go two streets back, and it's a shithole.
Bad Manners are an excellent live band, worth a look if you ever get the chance. I saw them at The Wickerman Festival years ago, met Buster very briefly...we danced together in the Reggae tent!
100% not Blackpool My guess would be Margate, lead singer Buster Bloodvessel has an affiliation with the town as he once owned a guest house/Hotel named Fatty Towers, a nod there to Fawlty Towers
Loved Bad Manners since the early eighties seen em live a bunch of times I’m pretty sure they wrote this tune about a serial killer I think I’ll drink a little red wine And take you where they’ll never find you
Our summer down here in Melbourne isn't faring much better than the beach in this video, sadly. I remember these guys quite welll. Early 80's British Ska.. It reached Australia.. We knew it existed and was all happening over there in England. I was thinking that maybe we could occassionally have a reaction to British or American songs that only got to be hits in Australia? There are some real rippers from the around the world that only charted in Australia because of exposure on Countdown and Countdown kids pushing the prodoct to radio stations. I've been advised by Gillian that I need to extend a title of a song to include the channel or uploader name, so here's my attempt... Blondie - In The Flesh blondei official channel Gillian and I still remember the night Countdown ''accidentally'' played this video, instead of the intended ''X-Offender''. However, we were arrested by the mistaken video, which we speculate was purposely played due to its more universal appeal. We all talked about this Blonde chick at school the next day, and pleaded DJ's to play the record on the radio. The song got to # 2 on the Australian national charts - a first hit single for the new New York band. It's criminal that the ABC wiped the episode of Countdown that was hosted by Debbie and the boys in November '77. Phil Seymour - Precious To Me (friday night in the video room) Another classic that got love in both the US and Australia. Didn't seem to trouble any other territories. Countdown played the video in 1981, and we hit the phones and demanded it'd get played as much as the latest Rod Stewart record. Rupert Hine - Misplaced Love (friday night in the video room) Same old ''video got played on Countdown and we loved it'' story. Anyway, just an idea that might be fun to toy with. Cheers, Hayley
I bought their first 3 albums and loved “ In the flesh “ . My fav non single from their early work was “ fade away and radiate “ Hayley . Good idea btw about foreign music that was made by Australian fans first . 👍🏴
Don't be letting my errant husband tell you that Blackpool is awful, to me it's the Mecca of dancing. I danced in competitions many times over the years at Tower ballroom. Many happy memories had there. I still like Bad Manners and hopefully you'll forgive Col's bad manners.
Do 'Buona Sera' I live about 40 miles from Blackpool and to be honest its a proper dump. It was the British Benidorm in its heyday but has fallen on bad times
Another great British band , sounds like they're having fun making good old 80's music or was that 90's , by the way have you ever played Aussie band Rose Tattoo songs like Bad Boy For Love , Nice Boys Don't Play Rock & Roll , We Can't Be Beaten & Rock & Roll Outlaw .
You two dissing our summer ? That WAS a roasting day by the beach 😅 That was factor 30 that day ! …. I actually DID like this track , it had a bit of authenticity to it but that went out the window when they released “ lip up fatty “.. which was designed to make Buster Bloodvessel a sweating , wheezing ,prancing fool and ended their interest with me and most of the world too ..👀 So in summary - I loved BOTH of the tracks today and that’s ..VERY unusual and a bit unnerving if I’m honest . 🤷♂️ 👍🏴
Great fun song's
Thanks for playing my suggestion, the music video was made on the beach in Southend on the S, East coast of England😊

Scottish holidays were as exotic as summers got for me as a kid.

Great live band, saw them just before Christmas. Other songs include, Lip Up Fatty, Special Brew, Lorraine, Just A Feeling and Can Can 😊
Met buster years ago and my brain just froze. He used to come out to talk to fans queuing before concerts.
Had to subscribe, can't help it when you start reacting to ska! Keep it up .

Bad Manners Christmas Ska Bash, every year between Xmas and New Year in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. They never fail to deliver.

Phil Seymour was in The Dwight Twilley Band who had a great power pop hit in 1976 I'm On Fire. Sounded great on the radio. Fresh.

Those red phone boxes in the video are few and far between now. Almost as iconic as The Tardis.
The song pffff

2 more great tracks from Bad Manners are 'Lorraine' and 'Samson & Delila'.
Great to see a ska band. Probably one of their less energetic songs- check out "lip up fatty' or "the beat" mirror in the bathroom.
We know both of those songs quite well
This is more like UB40 than what you normally got from Bad Manners.

Your chronology's backward - Walking In The Sunshine came out more than a year /after/ Lip Up Fatty.
