Effie switched up on Tariq with Noma just like Angela arrested James St Patrick for the death of Greg Knox then saved James St Patrick from getting the needle. Effie saved Tariq life by telling him Cane was gonna unalive Tariq. Effie wanna go to Stanford and Angela wanted to go to Choate and both Tariq and James were gonna go.
Out of all the younger characters Effie plays the game the best besides maybe Tariq. She’s far from a pawn. She’s the Queen. The most critical piece on the board
I don’t believe what Effie told Lauren about targeting her because of her interfering with her future! Effie wants Tariq for herself! Just as she tricked Diana for Tariq’s affections! Afterall, Effie is always out for Effie’s best interest! I believe that Effie will kill Diana to keep her from having Tariq’s baby (when she finds out)! And, that forces Cane to kill Effie to redeem his sister’s death! And, the fact that Cane has moved on to Noma! I hope that Obi can hookup with Tariq and Brayden!
Effie is probably the biggest enigma of a character to ever appear on "Power". Who is she really? Is she connected/related to somebody very important? The fact that she's kept talking about a 'mystery plug; ever since OG Power makes me think they have a big reveal to make about her. There has been theories on everything from her being Meccas daughter to being a relative of Felipe Lobos. Since this IS the final season, her past needs to be revealed before she dies. I have a theory on who she is and it WOULD be the final piece to the puzzle: she is related to Kanan. Either she is the daughter of Kanan himself (he doesn't exactly strike me as the fatherly type so he could very well have had more kids that he either wasn't aware of of or wasn't close to), or may be the daughter of Lou-Lou and Jessica. Lou-Lou could have had a kid later in life with another younger woman as well. She would've been born around 2000, where Lou-Lou would be in his late 30s, Lou is probably going to be the one that survives the longest out of the Thomas siblings. They have been building up something ever since then - and I'd be REALLY REALLY disappointed if they pull a "Star Wars: The Sequels" and have her just being the daughter of some random junkies/alcoholics.

This is facts, it was not a jealousy thing. Lauren was just too great a risk. Of all the things to blame Effie for, I still can't look back and see how that's one. But the real problem in that was Cane because he would have deaded everyone involved if they let her go and shit went wrong.

Theory: Tariq’s “Third Way” Courtney Kemp in her interview of the future of Power Universe stated after season 4 …..the show would shift in a direction where Tariq would have a woman making him choose a new life. Anya Covington it seems to be Tariq’s “Third Way” . Anyone who has been in relationships understands sometimes the past is convenient, the present has no growth… then to move forward you need someone new who makes you grow and no fall into the same cycle.
Speaking of Courtney Kemp she said she's not a fan of pregnancy storylines (they done it once with Holly and that's it), so the one with Diana makes no sense. Or is Kemp no longer involved AT ALL
