- This radio was ordered by Phill with very specific details of how we were going to make this Radio with some of the upgrades that are shown in the video. Our goal on this was purity and as best harmonics as I could possibly achieve on this, so that’s what we went for on this and we didn’t push the WATT envelope like some do and that’s explained in this video also. I like the Blue lights, and would like to get it done to the Freq meter, and buttons, but was told to stay away from that area.
I’m not sure of your skill / knowledge level but the keypad board can easily be ruined, the unsoldering of the board isn’t for a beginner but if time and care is taken it can be done. To remove the button board is very simple it’s more the desoldering and soldering. If you want to take the keypad board out I can instruct you and you can mail it to me and I will do the led lights for $30 plus shipping that includes the led lights.

Unfortunately I don’t have a link for that the pad requires 8ea 3mm blue led’s 12vdc
Is there any way to add a real variable talkback to these? It's the one of the things they should have kept from the 2990.
Unfortunately not one that honestly works good, I do have on 69 Base Plus that does have talkback and it is a very, very nice radio. I have a video of one on my UA-cam channel.

@@HAUNTED-HAM I've seen the jumper wire method and yeah, not a good or useful way of doing it. With the base plus you get echo and talkback but you lose the VFO. It's too bad nobody makes a copy of the old RF Limited UTB-1.
Can these radios be plugged into a 240v...i live in the Republic of Ireland and would really like to buy one
