I think the only way to avoid gmo food, is to shop at local farmer's markets that are specifically organic.

***** Organic Certification does not equal zero presence of a gmo. Low level presence of gmo in organic production is allowed as long as as the grower has followed the organic process for organic production. Organic crops with gmo presence can and are sold as organic. The USDA certification does not have zero policy.

I swear to God, I used to tell people all the time that food hasn't tasted the same since the 80s, but I kept hearing 'oh you were just a kid'.. No bitch, I knew food was not being made the way it used to be. Like why can bread sit and not get mold, milk will sit and not get curdled, cheese doesn't mold, etc. Food used to do that back when I was younger and slowly but surely it stopped happening.
Because of technological advancements. Do some research and you will find that the advances in the food we eat are all positive.

I knew about 70% of this stuff, I'm so glad it was in my feed. My 17 year old daughter and I are currently changing everything in our lives. We started with food, then bath and body products. The water in our houses is a big concern too.
I live in Europe (a country where organic food is still present, while this is now changing), but went to the USA to study back in 2005. I came back home during a summer break in 2006, and gained 10-12lbs. What was the difference is that I was not "fat" for that extra pounds I gained like people in my country are, but more like I was injected with fluids, I felt like I was a balloon. It was not normal. I also remember that feeling when I "tried" to eat food in the University campus, where nothing had any taste, like you were eating shoe box with ketchup. I felt sorry for fellow American students, they didn't have a clue since most of them never had a chance to try REAL food, and have no idea how real food taste like...

Adalene Alicea it's pretty hard to find in America real Organic, non-GMO food, some food you buy that is organic, might be GMO, just because is organic does not mean is GMO free, it just means it was treated with less pesticides. I grew in the 70s in South America and traveled abroad and I can tell you, when you go in the outdooor markets in other countries in South America, the vegetables and fruits have a very strong odor, when you go in the supermarkets here in the US, the vegetables and fruits have very minimum odor, the only place I've smell the strong, veggy earthly smell is in whole foods.
I know what you mean about the smell. I still try to do that but to no avail! Still in the Caribbean but who knows how long that will last as America is shipping GMO apples in and probably more seeds/pesticides
vladoni I met a doctor who had a foreign exchange student at his home. She was from Norway and a senior in HS. He said she put on 15 to 20 pounds in the 9 month school yr. Went home and lost that weight . Now this is the home of a DOCTOR, in WA state, (west coast health mentality). Besides the weird food in US, there is also more stress from themanipulated news media. While I was in Norway in june 2005, I watched the annual memorial aboutD-Day, the 6th of June,Normandy invasion. I was stunned to hear a western European leader say in English, right on TV, That,"Everyone in Europe knowsGeorge Bush is an idiot"!!!!! Here it is in 2015, and I am still blown away whenI think about it. (And many people voted for him TWICE, when we get a suitablecandidate,I'll start voting.)

Just completed my college Nutrition class and thanks to Dr.wallach and my upbringing in the Caribbean I can spot "phony" foods.
There are many companies making changes to the food industry. Companies like Amys, Simply Organic or Wild oats are offered to the public and are also sold at stores like Walmart or Target. Also look for Usda labels on the food

I have spent $150.00 on raised beds, rain barrels, compost bins etc. most of our beds are Freecycle (craigslist) We project a savings of thousands this summer all none gmo seeds 100% organic. We don't eat meat but we do raise chickens for pest control and bees for pollination. We have .75 of an acre. I grow more then I need and my grow room is currently growing more greens then I can eat all growing under CFL. I really wish people would invest in there health and there loved ones health rather then a new T.V or just useless garbage.

Actually, wheat IS a GMO crop. All wheat grown on the planet today is genetically modified. This is why you are seeing more and more people across the planet who as they age, are finding that they have a wheat intolerance. This is due to the fact that back in the late 1940's and early 1950's, a plant geneticist with the good intentions of "feeding the entire planet" genetically modified the wheat plant to grow shorter so it would grow faster giving the wheat farmer two growing seasons in one growing season. He also modified the wheat berry (that's the wheat kernel...also known as a seed) to grow short and fat, with the purpose of "hopefully?" making it a few percentage points larger, in order again, to yield a larger crop. Yielding a larger crop twice a year means that technically you can now feed more human beings. So it was all done with good intentions. But it took humans over ten thousand years just to get used to eating something that was never in our diet in the first two million years as we evolved into human beings in the first place. So squeeze all that evolutionary history down into a microcosm of just a few years, and the reaction from your gut, which cannot process this newly created (literally instantaneous) genetically modified plant, you can imagine that there are going to be side effects...sometimes severe side effects. IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome is one of them. Get off Wheat, Barley, Rye and Oats, and see what happens to your digestive system as it heals and becomes happy again.

Thank you for producing this video. It is so difficult to get honest and accurate information. As an American it is deeply disturbing our government allows large corporations to spoil our food supply. Other countries have banned GMOs...because they are harmful. I honestly believe people are heavier and sicker now because of the use of GMOs in the food supply.
Top it off with people getting sick because of it and having to pay the medical bills, and you'll see that something is definitely wrong. heck, insurance in America is one of the most difficult things to get because of high premiums and competition, in which competition between healthcare providers shouldn't be a thing for something that's a basic human necessity.
Addendum: A bit of a soap box, but also veterans. Veterans don't get any extra benefits for serving their own country. All they get is a "Thank you for your service", which I find disrespectful.

Bought Del Monte "freshly" grown pineapple in Costa Rica a few years ago that always had a weird aftertaste so I called Del Monte and asked what kind of fertilizer they were using because there was an aftertaste. Asked for my name, address, etc and within two days men showed up at my door and said there was something wrong with my computer. I wasn't having any computer problems but felt intimidated to tell them to just leave. Later researched Del Monte Pineapple and discovered it is genetically modified!
I have been reading for a long time. Since I came to US. I became allergic to food. My doctor is like you. No sugar, no soy, no corn, no soda. Yes... organic, ngmo, glutrn free, dairy free. I feel awesome right now. At the begining i could no breath because of food. Thanks for sharing.

As of 2011, 30,000 items in our grocery stores contained GMO's (I am sure this number ois far higher now). 85-90% of ALL consumables contain some form of corn product and nearly ALL corn now grown in the US is GMO. What if We had to get a release from the Doctor every time we went on an airplane
I used to eat Plums all the time when I was a kid. Home grown, natural, organic plums. They were so delicious and naturally sweet. I would literally pick it off the tree and bite into it. I don't have access to the place where I used to get them, so naturally, I stopped eating plums.
Years and years later, I go to the store and I happen upon some Plums. I think, "Man! I haven't had a Plum in years. I still remember those Plums I used to eat all the time. I'm going to get me some Plums."
I take it home, let it go for a couple of days to make sure it's really ripe. And then I bite into it.
It was absolutely disgusting.
No taste. No sweetness. It was actually kind of bitter. And it was somewhat hard, like a Pear. It was nothing like the Plum I ate when I was a child.
I spit it out and threw the rest in the garbage.
I don't buy Plums anymore.
Also, Twinkies and Little Debby snacks don't taste as good as they used to. The cream inside is... weird.

10 months ago, I stop eating packaged foods. Only cook and prepare non GMOs.Eat a large Raw diet. 11 months ago I was 295 lbs, looking at type 2 ,sleep disorders ,Blood pressure 167 over 92 average day. No exercise routine increased.Today I am 209 ,,,6 ft 2. Blood 120 over 80,sugar levels normal.This week I am proud to say exercise is now ,my next venture.I am 54,the taste of restaurant foods is no longer ,something I will not eat.
A lot of people here seem to be misinformed about the real difference/truth about GMOs vs organics -
Many people believe that organic is safer as it dOesN’t uSe anY pEstiCidEs, hErbicIdEs, oR fErtiLizers, but it does. In fact, organic foods are known to require more resources to produce than GMOs since they are not as genetically equipped to grow properly. The difference between the pesticides/herbicides/fertilizer of the organic and GM food is that GM food just uses some chemical fertilizers (in low enough traces that it won’t affect humans at all of course, it’s heavily regulated), while organic food can use pheromones or “natural fertilizers” such as bone meal, kelp, or blood meal to get the nutrients. As I said before, using a chemical fertilizer doesn’t affect people at all, and will get the job done much quicker with less quantity needed, since it directly supplements the plant. Organic fertilizers are okay, but won’t provide you with as much nutrients in a single application since they aren’t as concentrated, therefore requiring more application and product.
People also get concerned that the plants are modified heavily with genetic engineering when often times it’s only a single gene that’s edited, and it’s really not dangerous at all. GMOs have to go through a loNG application and testing process to ensure that the crop would be beneficial to release to the public/ s a f e
Papayas wouldn’t even be here today if it weren’t for GMOs, there was a huge virus going on throughout the plants, and the species got really low on numbers, and the only thing that stopped the virus was when they genetically modified the plant.
Many consumers are very ignorant to the products they’re buying as well. Companies will often throw on an “organic” label to foods that don’t even have a GMO counterpart. You can see this happening all across grocery stores. It tricks the naive shoppers into buying the more expensive organic products, rather than just an unlabeled one which didn’t have GMOs in it in the first place. The actual list of GMOs is shorter than most people think - there’s only 10 that people eat. Squash, soybeans, corn, alfalfa, canola, potatoes, apples, cotton, papaya, and sugar beets. The full list of GM plants include some plants that aren’t intended for consumption too though, including some poplar, carnations, petunias, roses, and tobacco (less nicotine!)
GM crops also require a bit less water, and will provide a somewhat higher yield than their organic counterparts, making them much more efficient for land usage. If every farm decided to switch to organic, there would be a huge shortage of farmland. Talk about cOnseRvaTiOn.
Just to mention it though, GMOs aren’t 100% better than organics. The main downside to GMOs is that they lack as much genetic variety as organics have. Due to this, GMOs will occasionally require more herbicide use than organics, since over time the weeds that they are combating may start becoming resistant to their genetic modifications.
That’s both true sides of organic and GM food, if you want to take a real look at it.
I work at a nursery which sells both GM and non-GM crops plus a lot of this information can be discovered through some simple research from unbiased sources. :)

Bananas had large seeds and do not resemble the ones in the grocery store. Basically all the food you eat has been modified through hybridization and selective breeding. In other words they have been selectively modified.
I can only think of very few foods that are exemptions to this: wild berries, puff ball mushrooms and fiddle heads (baby ferns).

You'll be fairly healthy just by getting rid of meats (including marine animals), eggs, dairy, and processed foods. Eating whole, plant-based foods will give you energy, cleanse your body in and out, and lube your joints (if you're over 40, you'll experience back pain and/or knee/ankle problems when you do intense exercises). I've just changed to this new diet for two months , and it did wonders. I've had many papayas (which is considered bad in this video); they're a billion times better than meats, processed foods, eggs or dairy. I used to indulge in delicacies such as raw veal (be thui), raw pork (nem), sushi, raw oysters, raw duck blood (tiet canh vit). (I didn't eat a lot of these things, but I ate them on special occasions). Now, I replaced them with durians, mangoes, jackfruits, papayas...

I have one question why can't we the people stop these idiot companies from putting GMOs in our Foods.
Farmers overwhelmingly choose gmo technology seed in the world when it is an option. They love use much less pesticides and much safer pesticides. The pesticides use are even much safer than many of the pesticides that organic growers use. Ask any old farmer like me. The CBS Evening News had a piece 8-30-2017 on how gmo technology was being use to cure some cancers. They showed exactly how is being done and they are also working on other cancers trying to cure them. Man has been breeding plants in all different ways for thousands of years to help benefit mankind. 500 years ago a carrot was pure white. GMO technology is use in many things to better the world. Almost all Insulin used today by diabetics is GMO insulin. GMO rennet has been used for decades to make cheese. The cheese making enzyme breaks down proteins and separates them from whey. Golden Rice to benefit vitamin A-deficient children. & BT CORN AND COTTON. GMO proteins include blood- clotting factors to help Hemophiliacs, the hepatitis B vaccine, thyroid hormones, laundry detergent enzymes, and many synthetically produced amino acids used in nutritional supplements. There are many many many more benefits of GMO technologies. What's all this about canola oil? It works perfectly in my chain saws...
***** Canola oil is an extract of the rape seed. It makes great biodiesel fuel and is a cheaper alternative for winter weight chain saw oil (I haven't tried it yet in the summer heat). The reason it works so well in chain saws is due to its "tacky" quality. It sticks to the bar and follows the chain right back around to the sprocket. I found out about how valuable canola oil is when my local supplier of bar oil ran out and I had several tons of downed trees to buck and an irate wife demanding I clean up the mess. I took some of her canola oil, put it in the saw and it performed perfectly. One thing, if you are putting canola oil in your saw or using it as a lubricant and accidentally get some on your fingers or mouth, wipe it off immediately because it is toxic to humans.
Tom Connor I don't know about how toxic it really is, but it's so tacky that it stays on the bar really well and the saw runs cool and well oiled. And it's a lot cheaper than brand name bar oil. I haven't tried it in the summer heat, but we'll see what happens this season.

UPDATE: I've done research and my latest opinion is that canola oil is GMO, very toxic, and is quite inflammatory as it oxidizes in the presence of heat and oxygen. So, I'm glad I stopped using it for food, however I still use it in my chain saws and it continues to work perfectly in all seasons. My bars still look almost brand new.

I worked at a dairy, milking 99 cows a night. These people are wrong, there is NO mastitis residue in milk, or antibiotics!! Because, the dairy I work for was a class A dairy. In fact TILLAMOOK cheese was the buyer of the milk. There are VERY strict regulations on this very topic!! Any cow with mastitis, or that is currently on antibiotics, their milk DOES NOT go into the main tank! These cows are milked separately, the milk is then thrown out!! The main tank of milk is constantly tested for antibiotics, and any bacteria. If a worker was to make that horrible mistake. They would be IMMEDIATELY fired, and may have to pay for any milk contamination! The holding tank at the dairy I worked at held 3 thousand gallons. That's a lot of money, at $3.00 a gallon!! To be qualified pasture raised, a hen requires a minimum of 108 sq ft of outdoor space each. That is A LOT of space for one hen. My studio apartment in Hollywood is only 500 sq ft and I'm a human being. The possibility of a pasture raised egg being contaminated with salmonella or e coli is highly unlikely because the hens have so much room to roam they are not shitting everywhere they lay their eggs, unlike conventional factory farm eggs where they are absolutely laying their eggs in piles of shit.

Here in Europe, EU allowed seed companies to use the same technology as GMO seeds, when making organic seeds. The seeds are called CMS-hybrid. When you buy organic produce in Europe, there is a chance it’s CMS.

my advice is look into growing you own vegetables, a simple hydroponic system using pvc tubes a fish pump and led lights. start up cost of $200.00 but the savings you get by growing 100% non gmo and non pesticide vegetables pays for everything with the first harvest....
glyphosate is used to 'finish' the harvests of 150 different crops. it's not just gmo crops that get this treatment.

There is organic cat food. Organic is always non GMO. Tender and True is great and affordable, the chickens are certified raised humanely too which is really important to me. Organix is another good brand but more expensive but the chickens are free range. There are some other brands out there with organic ingredients but not fully USDA organic certified such as Newman's Own. But at least its a charitable company.

Accept it and worry about something that matters.

I'm not responsible for your science education so if you want a list of studies just look them up. They are all there. They will be the ones published in scientific journals where science is published. What it comes down to is whether you are the sort of person who will accept evidence and reasoning even if it contradicts your established beliefs. If not, it does not bother me in the slightest. We both consume around the same amount of GM food already and we are both the healthier for it. Humanity has been modifying food varieties for millennia, only now we can do it with more precision and with fewer unwanted genes. Whatever you support in the end I see no reason why discussion on this topic should arouse such vindictiveness, do you?

Let me take a minute to ask this community a question: When they genetically modify corn, what kind of change do you think they're engineering? More production and bigger fruit, right? That's pretty much the same thing as hybrids. It's not like they're taking all the nutrients out of the cells and adding in DNA from hamsters. I mean, come on. It's not toxic waste. If they add anything into the nucleus of a corn seed that's not corn, then the plant that grows is going to be something else and not corn. But if they find things in the DNA that favor better production and add them in in place of something from before, the stuff they add in has to be corn or else it's not gonna grow a corn plant. I seriously don't understand ANY reason for all the worry and fear-mongering. NONE IF THIS IS TRUE! Just so you know, I HATED GMOs before actually doing my research. please read information from actual scientific studies instead of youtube videos. GMOs are necessary for much of the population to survive and they are able to create drought and pest resistant plants in poorer populations when plants aren’t able to grow in their natural state. GM crops are made by changing pieces of DNA within the plant and we are aware of what we are changing and they are considered GMO crops. However, the use of mutagens and radiation to foods randomly knocks out parts of DNA in the food and replaces them until the food meets standards. This process is very dangerous because we don’t know exactly what DNA has been changed just by looking at it. These foods however can still be labeled as organic. All the ACTUAL studies show that GMOs are just as healthy and nutritious as organic crops. there is very little to fear with GM crops. just remember not to trust youtube when it comes to this.

The main purpose for GMO crops is profit for those that sell the seeds, & control of our food supply. There are other purposes as well, none of which are of benefit to those who consume or grow GMO crops. Look at what happened in India, for example, and look at what other countries are doing.
So the organic food industry is a non-profit organisation? Farming varieties with high yield does no good for the farmers? Thanks to Norman Borlaug a huge humanitarian disaster was averted in India in the 20th century because they had access to improved varieties of cereal crops. Research the story of golden rice and see what the consequences are of well-fed ignorant organic industry "shills" literally taking the food away from poor malnourished people in Pakistan.
Golden rice succeeds and continues to succeed since it was developed in 2000. In 2005 a newer variety was developed which produced 28 times more vitamin A. It is given free to subsistence farmers who pay no royalties and may replant saved seed. The only failure associated with it is in regards to the efforts by ignorant anti- gm activists. Without these obstacles up to 10 million children per year can be saved from death and disease associated with vitamin A deficiency. You should understand that in these poor communities vitamin a is derived from seasonal vegetables, which are expensive and available for only part of the year. This is why there is a deficiency in their diets. Rice is cheap and available all year which is precisely why Golden rice was developed. For you to say "give them vitamin A" is like Marie Antoinette saying "let them eat cake". If you agree that they should have access to vitamin A, you and your well-fed anti-gm crowd should get out of the way. You are the only problem. The countries that use GM like the US can indeed feed themselves and others. Countries that have an organic only policy such as Cuba now have to import food because they can't produce enough. The proof is in the shrivelled organic pudding.

I love zucchini and squash and never buy them at the store. I've rarely seen organic ones. I prefer to grow them when I can. Papaya is my all time favorite and its the Hawaiian ones that are small and round that are GMO and they don't have seeds. Always buy fruit with seeds. They are superior in nutrition and contain life force for the next generation. I dry papaya seeds. They end up looking and tasting like peppercorns. Great for digestion and the prostate.

The big danger of GMO is not that the genes have been modified. The problem is that the vast majority of GMO are modified to tolerate spraying with glyphosate (Round-up). It's the glyphosate, not the modified gene that is causing autism and a host of developmental disorders. Check out what Stephanie Sefel has to say about it. She a researcher MIT.
