Truck driver here, nothing like wartime stories on a long drive.
I'm not truck driver but I feel you. Long drive with wartime stories is hell of a ride 😅

I think we have this superiority complex where we think people were more gullable and more privy to mass hysteria before higher education was more widely available. I don't know about anyone else, but I think our modern world has proved that we are just gullable (if not More so) today.
The Overton window in action. 100 years from now or even less, people will say the same thing about us and our blind faith in fake news and propaganda... while blindly following a new trend of bizarre ideas themselves..
The problem today is that higher education today does not guarantee forming a critical thinking in person. And most people tend to ignore common knowledge in favour of their wishful thinking.

Ja sam iz Hrvatske, fascinantno mi je ovo, jel ovo neka široko poznata priča kod vas?
I have a story, thats is from my mother that i think would fit nicely here.
Theres this Polish town on the German-Polish boarder called Gubin, and near that town is a hill or colection of smaller hills around a big one, with paths, trees and a amazing view, but that place is called by the locals as "Death Mountine". During WW2 and after, that place saw some action and a lot of people died, some yet to be found, but it was also heavily mined by the Germans, and after the war a lot of sappers died trying to demine the area. Fast forward to the 2000s and my mother and father go over there for there date (yes i know, odd place for a date) and everything goes well, untill it turns into night, and my mother said how she was getting a unerving feelling of being watched and a sense of, like someone telling her to leave and get out, she even said how she looked at a area with some trees and said how she felt several pairs of eyes looking at her and my dad. Around 2 years later my father returned to that same area with a metal detector, and in that same area where my mother said that there were several pairs of eyes watching her, my dad found the remains of i think 4 soviet soldiers.
Thats where the story ends, and because of this story and some of my own experiences, im a firm believer in ghosts
Pozdrowienia z Irlandii dla polskiego fana kanału!
Honestly, it was most likely something in the trees. There are many different terrifying things running around. Unfortunately, they aren't just in remote/dense forests anymore.
People will get that being watched feeling when they are around or even mentally told to leave. That feeling of being watched is extremely strong, especially when it's something that hates you.
@@michaelcarter3149 could be a possible, plus with the reputation of that place, but i also got the same feeling whilst being next to a old German bunker, that had a burial next to it of dead soldiers, and that was during the day.
Good story. I believe it. Like Gettysburg.
@@gabrielwojniusz1993when I lived in Germany one of hitlers summer homes for hunting had its remnants still on a hill above it. The place was bombed to hell and most of the remnants had been scavenged or taken. All that remained was bomb craters and some metal rusted fencing. However my neighbor took us up there once pushed a large rock to the side and revealed the metallic entrance to the bunker… just one look was all I needed to feel chills. He said he had never gone down and nobody else he’s known ever has. Nobody liked going up there and he only took us bc we didn’t believe him. The walk out of the forest was extremely nerve wracking, a complete change in the vibe. Never went back and totally understand now why no one’s ever gone down there. It wasn’t shame, it was fear.

This story and location reminds me of a story I read as a kid called The Solider and Vampire. It tells the story of a soldier's sister falling ill and the people believing it to be the work of a vampire. The solider deciding to act set out to find this creature, knowing what to look for and even having knowledge of how these creatures greeted each other through stories of the region. The solider search the surrounding hills and trails until he found a cloaked stranger who he greeted with the sign. The two individuals struck up a conversation as fellow creatures of the night. The solider had found his prey or so he thought as the vampire not only admitted to attacking the girl but said he would do the same to the solider as he knew who he was. The individuals battled and ultimately the solider was able to deal a death blow to the vampire, upon returning to the village he found his sister had recovered from the vampire's attack and was in better health.

Hello everyone! I hope you're doing well.
I just want to write this story or history related to the video we watched today.
Since I come from a part of Europe with deep roots in mythology and folklore, more precisely Bukovina, Romania (part of the Habsburg Empire from 1774 to 1918), I want to tell you about what vampires are better called in those parts. "Strigoi," or similar to the Italian word "strega," which means "witch," is a term that dates way back to the Dacians and was adopted by Romanians throughout the centuries. It is said that a "strega" is the bad soul of the deceased that can rise up from its grave at night and has the ability to transform into an animal or a ghostly apparition to haunt the living. Because of its many adaptations, the people transformed these "souls" into bloodsucking creatures that can manipulate and control (thrall) their victims, very similar to a vampire.
I won't delve too much since this creature has many powers and abilities and is related to many augury stories. That is to blame for the countless regions in Romania that have somewhat different versions. Anyway. A person can become a "strigoi" upon their death if they suffer a tragic death like drowning or being shot, if they commit su***de or if they die without being baptized. To kill a "strigoi," people must search for the grave of the presumed deceased that transformed, and a priest (preferably ortodox) must recite special prayers. Ultimately, they must impale the cad*ver with an oak, yew, or ash stake into the heart or impale the heart with a silver dagger to bind the creature with the coffin so it can never be able to get out.
I've experienced a little part of the paranormal world, and I've heard many stories, real or not, and since I come from an orthodox family, I decided to study (as an amateur) this side, and I've discovered interesting things, but don't delve too much into it and tread lightly, sometimes with skepticism, for it can disturb you, so don't take everything for granted. There are many stories and facts to be checked; that's why I'll leave it up to your beliefs and curiosity. Stay safe!
P.S. Sorry in advance if my English is not refined and if my story has ambiguities. I'm more than happy to be corrected and taught.
There's a series of fantasy novels that I love called Vampire Academy, the author has included Strigoi and Moroi types of vampires in it, I'd recommend it if you like the genre 😊
@@AriaIsaraMerci de bien vouloir. I'll check it out the following month. 😊

Similar things happened all around Eastern and Central Europe. Every country has it’s own stories. The vampire hysteria went so bad in the Austrian Empire (Especially in Serbia and Hungary for example in Dés) Maria Theresa himself took effort in prevention after 7 living children were burned alive
Did a lot of innocent people get accused of being a vampire? Like the Salem witch trials here in the states?
@@panchoromine6841 No, most of the time only the dead bodies got harassed. For example in Russia they throw the corps into lakes or cliffs. Bulgarians cut their legs, Hungarians shot them with silver bullets. The poles impailed the body from behind. Venetians nailed their skull and put brics into their mouths. At some places they also put sickles, scythes or a moldboard into the coffin to cut the body into peaces if it tries to move at night.
