Step 1: Mayur's Background
Mayur Shivaji Jagdale was once a skilled engineer, working in the technical field. However, his passion for farming and the prospect of creating something unique led him to transition to agriculture. After researching various farming methods, he decided to specialize in pearl farming, a niche and profitable sector.
Step 2: Initial Investment and Setup
Mayur invested ₹2 lakhs to start his pearl farming journey. With this investment, he set up a controlled environment where he could introduce freshwater mussels, the key to producing pearls. This setup included monitoring equipment to maintain ideal conditions for mussel growth and pearl cultivation.
Step 3: Introduction of Mussels
In each batch, Mayur introduces 3,000 freshwater mussels. These mussels are carefully placed in tanks with specific water conditions. The pH level, temperature, and ammonium content are monitored to ensure the mussels' survival and pearl production. Despite the best efforts, around 500 mussels might not survive, leaving 2,500 to grow and produce pearls.
Step 4: Pearl Cultivation Process
Each of the remaining 2,500 mussels has the potential to produce two pearls. Mayur's pearl cultivation process involves careful handling and regular maintenance. Every 10 days, he changes the water to ensure optimal conditions. The mussels are kept oxygenated, and any abnormalities are addressed promptly to ensure a high yield.
Step 5: Harvesting and Profit
After a year and a half of cultivation, the mussels are ready to harvest. Each pearl is valued at around ₹200, resulting in a significant return on investment. With 2,500 mussels producing two pearls each, Mayur's batch yield is around 5,000 pearls, leading to a turnover of ₹10 lakhs per batch.

Pearl 🐚💍 farming involves selecting mollusks, inserting a nucleus to stimulate pearl growth, suspending them in underwater farms, harvesting the pearls, sorting and processing them, and distributing to markets worldwide. One batch - 3000 mussels observe them for 10-15 🐚 days before the surgery ! so do the surgery in the first month at growing stage ❤️ then put them in observation for 10 days 💦and transfer them to main tank 🛀and feed them with algae wait for one and half year 💚 for the pearl maturity then do the harvest 💍 don’t forget to change the water 💧 for every 15 days to maintain the ammonia level 🤩
