We're back with another Minecraft ARG! Sorry, what I really mean is an unfiction webseries. But what can I say when this one's especially labeled as such? This one is heavily based on Minecraft nostalgia, perhaps liminality, or liminal spaces even! Nah not really, the latter applies more to 1heaven with heavy reliance on C418 music. This really be some old Minecraft here, and not Minecraft PE, that's cringe. Today we're not doing the old Hypixel Skywars, or a Gmod ARG, or even a TF2 or Team Fortress 2 ARG. From which I was inspired by a combination of RetroGamingNow and Richter Overtime. I try to maintain a balance between criticism and being downright hilarious, sometimes comedy's necessary, y'know? This scary series also happens to reference analog horror with some of its videos? I dunno, but you tell me with white text on a blue backdrop. Also thank the lord above this doesn't involve no creepy Minecraft horror or Herobrine. This video is also more generally inspired by Night Mind, Nexpo, and Scaretheater! - Розваги
The remark about a Chad move actually makes me wanna see a horror series where the MC realizes what's going on and just starts doing that. Steals things from structures built by the entities, refuses to go down mysterious tunnels because he is more interested in digging coal, etc.
if i had any kinda experience in this kinda stuff, i'd totally do that. just have the protagonist get decked out in full enchanted gear and just go fight the entity like a gigachad

The alt version ARG was the most interesting so far, at the very least it has sense, in why it could happen, but like this for example, seems just dumb, so far watched the video until half point, and all I can think is why would it even exist. I would like to think why it is scary but there isn't any logical sense how I can. And most I watched if it wasn't for other people recapping them, I prob wouldn't even bother in continue watching after a while.

I really like seeing a very honest critique, not at all willing to hold back on the silly parts. I do think this did have some actual effort put into it, but probably by a younger person. I see this as a point of improvement for them in the future because they do have some of the right ideas ideas, but they don't really seem to put enough thought or time into them.
It amazing how we were able to watch in real time as these Minecraft ARG’s began to rot, just like analogue horror. (Edit): while some are good in their own right, others still seem just as unoriginal as the last one, just like most analogue horror has now.
I mean what can u really do with an analog horror in Minecraft? yes there's unique stuff u can do but if u really think about it what can u do that hasn't been done?
It's exactly like analog horror like there's uniqueness but if u try to do your own thing that uses a broadcast you're looped into the " just following the bandwagon" category

Of course if it’s someone playing around to make something and let their creativity shine, that’s still okay, starting with something familiar is okay, but there are so many of these with the exact same or similar plot points.

Man, I’m glad there’s not an entity for specifically the snapshot 13w01a, which is the first snapshot for the Redstone Update, a verion released well after I had started watching videos on the game and playing Pocket Edition and yet a decade before I bought the game for myself. I’m so glad the very first Minecraft update I remember learning about, which is specifically snapshot 13w01a, a version I have never played before yet is my personal favorite of all time. I just love snapshot 13w01a specifically.

Geez man you went so fking hard on this guy, like yeah the story may not be perfect but it's just a lil minecraft arg made by someone who's clearly having fun doing what their doing.
Like criticism is one thing but you were ragging on it basically the entire time, it dosnt have to be peak quality, what matters is that this guy is having fun and is expressing his creativity. There are alot of channels who try to bank on the ARG/analog horror genre for monetary gain but this is just a guy doing his own thing.
Not trying to give you shit or anything, all i'm trying to say is that we should afford small amateur series like this some sort of leeway or understanding, lower our expectations and be happy to see what this guy decided to put out into the world.

Tbh fair he goes hard on it, did the creator of the ARG bother to check his video after making them? It doesn't seem so, story is a mess that you can't understand, or has any logical sense, it isn't scary or interesting at all. Errors everywhere or stuff that leads to literally nothing. While fine someone uploading stuff at random, it is only fair people expect at least some care into it not even counting quality. If it weren't for his jokes after some videos, I might had even dropped watching the recap due to how boring it is.
Tbf whilst I think they could have been more supportive of the guy to continue and work to improve outside of the ending, all of his criticisms regarding the ARG were completely valid.
You have to criticize and point out mistakes so the author can learn from it. And you cant just be nice becouse it could be a kid, the kid wont learn from it other wise

Uhh guys I'm not sure if anyone noticed but some of things in this arg are very similar to the "johngamelover" minecraft arg, like the teleport concept (15:16), escpecially since the structure is very similar in both vids?? And the cobble stone long corridor with a lot of vinfing path ways and rooms?? I encurage you to watch the video made by RetroGamingNow on the "johngamelover" titeld "Strange Anomalies in Minecraft Alpha" (I know cliche) to see the similarities (also sorry for my bad english) ((also I'm not saying it's plagiarism or something I just find it interesting))
ngl the fact the arg creator literally called it an arg in the playlist title breaks all immersion. Its like making a creepypasta and at the end typing out "btw this is all fake" like sure you knew it but why include it to kill the suspension of disbelief

I don't think I can even say "They at least put effort into it" as most, if not all of this, is very bottom of the barrel, low quality horse apples.
The long gaps of nothing happening, the lazy story telling trying to be creepy with cryptic nonsense.. I'd say I feel bad if it's a kid, and I'm potentially tearing a child's work apart, but man. It feels like everyone wants to be the next "big ARG", and that kills the potential in quality that any what could be interesting ARG had going for it.
The padded cell room had some pretty cringy editing, too. The character becoming self aware is a really poorly handed plot point in a lot of cases, this being no different. Also, the overdone "EEYIKES, SOMETHING SCARY IS HAPPENING, TIME TO FLAIL MY MOUSE LIKE I'M HOLDING A CAMERA!" because they saw it in a scary ARG using RL footage.. Ouch.
This, all in all, has some really rough writing/storytelling, and I hope, if it is a kid, they get some proper criticism, take it and absorb it, and build upon the concepts they have. It could be interesting, but they're not doing anything with what they have to MAKE IT interesting. You could probably do something with a mod and incorporate it into an ARG and make a better experience than what the base experience of this "ARG."
Ideally. Again, wholly ideally, this wouldn't be executed the way it was- I'm not a horror writer myself, so I'm not sure how I'd write it otherwise, but I'd possibly treat it like getting your hands on a mod/modpack from some back alley website using those dodgy adfly kinda links, and oooh, scary, there's some ghost in the machine shenanigans going on, since the writer seems to be very keen on sentience in the game that is not them.

Yknow given how many minecraft unfiction series rely on another player altering the world while staying hidden to keep the illusion of whatever the plot is, I kinda wanna see a fake-out minecraft unfiction series that plays out like any other spooky series like this except at some point the player figures out they're in *somebody else's world* and they both keep barely missing eachother to the point the other seems like some kind of ghost to each of them
To anyone wondering 'but how would someone be unknowingly playing in someone else's active world' I offer- there is in fact a literal ghost-in-the-machine scenario at play here, however said ghost doesn't appear whatsoever. They were just a lonely minecrafter that wanted to try multi-player to make friends and never got the nerve before they died so now they haunt the game at large, randomly connecting individual players to another player's world without warning 😂

Аuthor of the series could try make simpler story. It all comes down to what we are told and not show. (btw i noticed that minecraft makes more errors in the story) Problem is that if you remove Minecraft and leave the text screen, not much will be lost to story
Depending on how you view this, this video is either peak satire of ARGs, or someone who's trying to replicate success without undestanding what makes ARGs so intriguing.
