It's really cool !, you can use it for the effect of the Dementors
For those trying to figure out the fractal noise settings, I used the small bumps type, linear, offset turbulence upwards, 75 sub influence, negative sub offset on the y axis, and the other settings shown in the video. This isnt exactly what the noise looks like, but this is the closest ive gotten to duplicating it, lmk if you found something more alike but this worked just fine for me.

Great tutorial! I'll definitely be trying this out, however one could take it a step further and do a key on the face/CC Smear layer to only have it affect the highlights, as it's light that's emitting. Additionally, a CC Wide Time effect could be added in to focus the stream a bit more and blend the gradient going up from the neck as well as the output from the face. The added effect would basically smear the pixels over time, creating an offset/more complex textures. I'm also seeing a fair bit of noise in the original Weeknd shot, so amping up the Roughen Edges, pre-comping that layer and duplicating it three times with Shift Channels on each layer for a chromatic abberation effect could help. Additionally, playing with some blend modes could integrate it more with the footage. I'm critiquing the tutorial as a point to expand the effect, not to criticize it at all. Your production house does really stellar work and I've learned a lot from your channel.
The lum track matte for the black solid did not work for me.
@@AFuller2020 I’m sorry that didn’t work out for you when following their tutorial. The comment I wrote was intended to be an expansion idea off of their tutorial. A good trick/workaround for trackmattes is to pre-comp the two layers that will be affected by the trackmatte itself. This removes any chance of any of the other layers affecting it. Also by doing this you’re able to isolate and visualize the trackmatte effect better. Then of course you just jump back into the main comp and adjust with blending modes/compositing with the other layers now that you’ve isolated your trackmatte effect on one layer as opposed to two.
