      I just watched dark waters that’s why I’m here! It crazy to think this happened. All I use is cast iron

    So they are safe to use at lower than 110 degrees celsius but not possible to produce without toxic chemicals that are being dumped/released either by factories or in landfills...?

    He makes a good point with the last part.

    You say that if your teflon frying pan got red hot it would produce hydroflouric acid - what kind of affect would that have on anyone inhaling it?

    • @craftsmank
      @craftsmank 3 роки тому

      @Nicholas Negron only flu lik symptoms?

    • @craftsmank
      @craftsmank 3 роки тому

      @Nicholas Negron teflon has another name - ptfe - maybe youre not interested but if you were to put this into google you may be just a trifle surpised PERFLEUROISOBUTENE.

    • @craftsmank
      @craftsmank 3 роки тому

      @Nicholas Negron then you know that it scars the lungs, can cause heart attacks and other serious problems - however the ptfe on a frying pan is not enough for serious ilness - so it does not just give one teflon flu which goes over after a few minutes

    I've never seen a baby born with deformaties because mum used a pan without teflon and burned the food.
    The statement at the end seems ridiculous.

      Note that he says PFOA, which is not teflon but the intermediate agent also known as C8.

    Well you know what if a budgie dies because you using a Teflon frying pan do you think it's good to breathe that ourselves my girlfriend Lost three of our birds in one month
    Just after she bought a Teflon frying pan and the vet ask her if she had just bought something with Teflon and she says yes the frying pan he says well it killed your birds and it's a known fact it's like in the old days they used to have a bird that was sending to the minors cave where they were working and if the bird didn't come back the miners were not to go in there because of the dangerous fumes so why would not apply today when it comes to Teflon frying pans doesn't that make sense to anybody. There are non-stick non Teflon frying pans out there that work great

      Exactly. Everyone does that, therefore, the product is not safe.

    Ridiculous.. in the end he says that cooking on a teflon pan is safer because poly aromatic hydrocarbons are more dangerous than PFOA, but in the beginning he says that there is no PFOA at all in final produced teflon pans... Plus HF is very dangerous not only to birds... Birds are just smaller animals so the lethal dose is smaller, but a long period exposition can be dangerous even for bigger animals. As far as i know the basic methabolism of birds is not so different from the one of mammals.. Please correct me if i am wrong.

    • @canesvenatici9588
      @canesvenatici9588 4 роки тому

      I think he meant even if u got exposed by pfoa it's still generally safer than poly aromatic hydrocarbon. Hydroflouric acid is extremely dangerous yes but it only get released on 1000 degree(not sure but I think glowing red hot is around 1300 degree celcius according to what I heard from blacksmith guy).

    So teflon is not safe, don't use non-stick , please. Use regular stainless steel utensils, if you are worrying about fried and sticky substance,use cold oil and put it aside before cooking anything,then use regular oil to cook,it reduces the stickiness

    Dr. Joe Schwarcz is wrong. My and I watched a TV program in which a representative of the Teflon industry stated that basically cooking food on teflon pans at normal temperatures associated with general cooking will result in toxic chemicals to be released.

    I would rather eat burnt shit before I ever eat off a teflon coated pan. The only time I use teflon is at work on trucks. Most of the chemicals we use on trucks use teflon. So you may as well pour sump oil in your non stick pan, fry up some cigarettes and wash your hearty meal down with a glass of petrol!👍
