If its a vanilla server i'd suggest just spam gatling cannons with welders behind the turrets to repair them from incoming damage with heavy armor or just make a oversized kinetic torpedo to take out the source. If the server is modded, shields and probably DX11 cannons and watch the sky rain shrapnel.
I came for the drones. I stayed for the Hell March. Speaking of, I really want to figure out a way to basically control drones as if it were an RTS. Idk if anyone has done this but it would be cool.

I don't think I felt truly proficient until after I had sunk a good 50 to 100 hours into it. Timer block shenanigans are great example of this, as well as the fact that for some reason the devs thought it a good idea that you can only set a velocity with limits to mechanical blocks but not the (imo) obvious choice of being able to hit a button and have them rotate/extend to a specific angle/position or not organizing the control panel with a folder structure... But I digress.
@@av6728 took me 300-600 hours to truly grip From the Depths. and theres a whole world of things i'll never accomplish in it because the game basically has you make breadboards in game, im sure its probably nothing like making an actual breadboard, but its just advanced enough that i'd never figure it out with out first going to school to learn how to make a mother board or computer chip.
You know what space engineers needs? A Von Neumann probe. Imagine: a drone. Except it makes identical drones. And those drones also make identical drones.... Pretty soon, you'd have several million of them and a melted computer. Imagine THAT in multiplayer!
I have a friend who invented one years ago. It caused the admins to wipe the server, if memory serves. He even has his own UA-cam channel where he shows off his Space Engineers mad scientist shenanigans, look up "Mobius Core Industries"
This is something I have been working on! One of the few top strategies in Space Engineers, create an army. There is a few counters, such as spinning decoys with counter turrets, and large net ramming ships which are good for collecting drones, and grinding them up (usually is meant to work against fighters, or to disarm incoming missiles) :D

Not only It makes the Battle insanely hard for the opponent to survive, but also render the Attack pointless, because if you manage to survive After all that, most if not all resources are gone from the ship, so the only valuable option would be to take the ship for themselves, which might not be able to function anymore After the Battle, or maybe It even has a self-destruct option, leaving the opponent in a very precarious situation, weakened and with a lot less resources. Not to mention you can kill people's connection if it's weak, or their PCs if they're old or not powerful enough. It's One hell of a tactic, love It.

That would be very useful. But impractical. I think they're supposed to be just fire and forget drones that go until they can go anymore. Even I wouldn't fret over a few hundred drones like that. Especially with the possibility of the enemy having back up on its way to the battle.

I've been struggling to figure out drones for a while. I just can't get the hang of how to use them in a survival setting. I am trying to learn them to bully my firends and keep them on their toes (also cuz unlike them I am in a solo faction)
The hardest part is to get a halfway decent player detection script. Try looking up the fly by wire missile script on the workshop. Far easier to work with.
Bro I need this... I'm a poor smuck solo in multiplayer, and while I do LOVE building just fuckin gatling guns (I built around 320 last time, and it destroyed 4 ships from the most competitive group in the server).
Yeah idk why anyone would play open PvP Space Engineers. Youll just spend hours building a base thatll get destroyed in minutes. Doubly so with broken stuff like drones and whatever physics weapon is popular right now. Like these drones are cool in itself, but certainly arent to play against. Maybe the game just needs more PvE stuff to fight.
I need you to program my torpedoes. Then we can really get into "banned from multiplayer territory. I made a ship capable of producing 80 guided torpedoes every 10 seconds, the torpedoes aren't smart (because I'm not a programmer). But the ship can, and will, set fire to any server. It also has 48 point defence gatlings and a few missile tubes. 10 of these ships are able to set off 8000 torps in the span of a minute or two. The best part about this ship is that it was designed as the smallest in a fleet of missile ships. The largest of these can release a massive 20000 torpedoes every 5 seconds. I have yet to successfully fire a full volley from that ship without crashing the entire game.

That said a bunch of dudes and I took 10 of these and launched torps at the server owner's base after he abused his admin powers and stole everything from ours. We literally managed to set fire to his computer over the internet and were forever banned.

"Eh, probably just decoys, keep firing."
all fun n games till the decoy starts blasting
suddenly, the decoys fire 3 railguns right through your ship
"contact em back then"
and then everyone's game crashes from physics sim

Enemy not even visible on screen sends a rock the size of a small asteroid straight thru both you and the enemy ship

There's a script called Fleet Command that can do just that for both drones and ships.

imagine seeing a lone ship and going to go attack it, then all of a sudden you see 20+ armed ships break off of it.
Even if they have the ability to defend against that, it just becomes a war of attrition.
