There seems to be a lot of side-slip due to having no keel or centerboard. But I like the
simplicity of the sail plan, so easy to manage. Yrvind's inventiveness is amazing.

Congratulations, a very nice boat. By the way, we use, what you call chine runners on catamarans since 1980. What you call, "chine runners" can be compared to winglets on modern aircraft. What they do is, reducing the water flow on the downwind side of the hull. In this way, the boat sails better to windward and generate fewer vortexes.

His planned speed is 2 knots. He is planning to go around the globe non stop in that, I'd think he'd place safety before speed. He has circumvented the globe several times alone so I'd guess he knows what he's doing.

Doubtful! This man knows what he's doing: look him up. He's circumnavigated many times before in similar boats that he designs and he builds himself. This man is a legend.

Wont the boat easily capsize with the chineboards? I'm thinking that the center of gravity is higher due to this.

so how is the balance with those funky lateral keelsons? seems like one would have to build it to perfect balance or it wouldn't work at all?

Cymon Cyrado It doesn't, shortly after the making of this video the boat went head on with a Volvo at a boat ramp. It was destroyed, the only thing salvageable was that weird cone thing on the back. Sadly Claus' wife wouldn't allow him to build another because it was taking too much time from his daily chores. And that's how the fairytale came crashing to its end out here in this place we call the real world, now go get a job and stop being so nosey. Mind your own business.

  • @sassyblondel

Rigging looks like an afterthought. Shrouds are monstrous and get in the way of the bed sheet. The boat would be faster with a modern rig off a boat or cat or windsurfer. The idea is not new. Small Hobie cats in the 1960s had no keels or boards. Can't have much moment arm what keeps it upright? Will it self-right? Can a man fit through the hatch with a life jacket on?
