    Field-bred springers are the GREATEST dogs ever!!! I'm so glad I took the time to train mine with hand signals... she's now 14 & deaf but still obeys perfectly. ✌❤🐾

    my springer went 16.75 years with only the last 4 - 6 months being in a gradual decline. He was one heck of a loving companion for all that time.

    That's lovely to see, just shows no need for shouting or getting frustrated. Positive reinforcement with any dog is the way to go.

    I don't think I have any sort of immediate control of my springer, but he always seems to know what's going on and never strays far. He's just good boy all around. I have to physically pull him out of creeks, ponds, beaches, lakes, pools, Jacuzzis, and rivers year round. Fun stuff.

      I dont get why someone would breed springers and cockers together. Why not just have either one or the other?

    I want my first dog are they expensive to buy and do they cost much for food and the rest?

    • @crufts
      @crufts  8 років тому +9

      +James Mcmurrough Owning a dog is a very large responsibility. You can buy which can be expensive, but you can also adopt from shelters. Owning a dog can be very expensive, there are food costs, vet costs, insurance and of course the time you will need to spend with your dog. Doing the proper research before getting a dog is a necessity :)

      The biggest investment is your time. The best dogs are a part of the family. They are not something you can "put away" until you want to play with them. If you're going to spend a small or large fortune on a dog or better yet rescue a dog. Guard your investment by having them be apart of the family.

    This is great. It's a far cry from how they use the shock collars to train gun dogs in the USA.
    Nice considerate handling from an experienced trainer. Well done!

    • @michaelkingsbury4305
      @michaelkingsbury4305 Рік тому

      I've never known Americans to use shock collars except in training attack dogs. Gun dog training is very similar to this in the United States but perhaps not quite as sophisticated. Vibration collars are used with gun dogd in the US due to much larger hunting areas under often much rougher conditions where it is easy to lose sight of the dog, and where there are sometimes predators such as coyotes, bears and mountain lions.

    Only thing England ever got right. Only breed I would own. Awesome all around buddies. Very interesting when hunting all 3 at the same time by myself. However, must doc the tails. That's the way they need to be and bonus is tail can't knock anything over inside.

      another thing england got right is the banning of tail docking
