Can confirm that 1hz’s do in fact blow up! Bought my 2003 105 standard with 340xxxkms and an aftermarket turbo already done, but years of being thrashed by the teenager that put that turbo on and a general lack of maintenance will melt pistons and crack the head. And let me tell ya, it was not a cheap rebuild!
He did say won't blow up stock. They're easy enough to kill with a pile of fuel. You can actually ruin pistons with bad injectors even without boost. Not common though. And yeah, definitely not a cheap rebuild.

I remember the comments on the Cummings patrol tuning video complaining about the soot, but anyone who watches Chris’s channel will realise that he knows his stuff and I’ve learnt so much about diesel tuning. His videos are phenomenal!
I changed the turbo on the cummins because it was too lazy and caused lots of smoke. And a P Pump with big delivery valves and modded fuel plate is going to smoke. That's what common rail is for, power without smoke.

And god said "give the good people what they want" and the skid factory shook as lightning struck the roof! And thus the idea was born! A 1hz turbo install! Thank you for delivering to the good people what they want...!
Love your work & how up front you guys are, no BS policy , I think I’ll have give you guys a tingle when I’m ready to fit one to 1HZ troopy when get it back on the road. Cheers 🍻👍
Don't own a cruiser, nor anything that needs a turbo. One of the most interesting vids I've watched in ages. Great content guys.
For the win ! - Gotta love this for any 1HZ Toyota.
love to see these low $$ doable at home kind of vids guys, keep em coming! Would love to see something on getting a bit more power from a 2.5tdi as fitted to a VW T4 van :)
Reckon I'll buy a diesel for my ext work jalopy. Never realised how easy they can be to tune. Nice one lads.
My 1HZ 80 is doing 420Nm. Drives like a dream. I don't need any more power. Just enough to pull up those hills.
Hey that turbo is cool maybe that's what my buddy needs for his Model T probably would wake it up
It’s videos like these that make me think back to a few years ago when Al didn’t want to string two sentences together in front of the camera. And Woody couldn’t focus to save his life.
I’m taking the piss cause I’ve always loved the content you guys make. You’ve have come so far following your passion. Keep up the great work guys! Thanks!
I have a HZJ75 series which I am currently doing up and have been tossing up if we should put a Turbo on it. Engine stuff is still pretty unknown to me. Great video and learnt heaps!
The more Al does the UA-cam thing the better he gets. He gives of Rex Hunt vibes too
Good one boys! Chappy is a legend too!
These are my favourite kinds of videos and mods, love it
Crackin video lads, great to see some standard applications aswell. 80's are rippers for the money.
"I don't know what it weighs but she's got some girth"
That's what she said 🤣
Really enjoyed this video! Very detailed and straight forward, with a tangible goal that the average person can achieve. Awesome work guys ❤
Cool rig. Great episode
Cheers mate!
A great channel to watch with many different brands of vehicle's and great knowledge from true great blokes
You make it look so easy
You can tell that sump has never been off in its 30 odd years 👍👍
My first time viewing the channel and I'm very impressed with whole process. As a Old Yota fan this is something I would love to do here in Florida for our mudder fun. Very sensible approach to eek out some power from these old goats!
You have a answer in your comment. Teenager, thrashed, lack of maintenance.
He did say won't blow up stock.
They're easy enough to kill with a pile of fuel.
You can actually ruin pistons with bad injectors even without boost. Not common though.
And yeah, definitely not a cheap rebuild.
East African very love this Landcruiser80 series 1hz&1hd Engines especially Somalia 🇸🇴
Back to your roots. Always loved the everyman diesel conversions
Awesome show
I have been wanting to turbo my 1HZ toyota coaster... thank you for bringing attention to the bearings. seems all the good diesel mechanics are up that way... might have to drive it north to get it done.
Awesome vid. I've got a 105 series with a 1hz running 8psi and after seeing this I'm definitely looking into new big end bearings and a tune for it. Keep up the great work fellas 🤙
Oh yeah, Super cool. This thing surely improves fuel economy too, thus saving the environment and adding wooshy goodness to our favourite place - the beach!
Awesome video, great vibe as always blokes! Keep it up!!!
Alan is so happy doing this little project! good to see you taking a break from the hardcore Kevo. Nice palette cleanser for us viewers too, great stuff Lads
@@theskidfactory That cummins patrol was an absolute rig, one of my favourite in depth build series.
