I’m genuinely curious why when you’re low on air you’ll pull both yellow and red knobs out. As soon as you push them back in to move you lose a good bit of your air supply. Just put the truck in neutral and use the throttle to idle up the truck. You don’t need to set the trailer brakes every single time. Theres nothing wrong with the truck, it’s you.

That was my biggest problem as well when i first started, never took the time to park walk around and look at details and come up with a game plan. Trust me in tricky situations like this were you have multiple obstacles, cars, poles, buildings tight spaces etc its well worth it to park before even making a first move or turn, walk around for 10, 15 or 20 mins vs getting yourself into this predicament and fighting and struggling for an hour or so.

As a Chicagoan, Chicago traffic has tested my resolve time and time again. I absolutely refused to go downtown/ take the e-way anytime after 7 am or before 9pm. When I was in high school (2016-2020), I used to take the CTA to school and IT STILL WOULD BE SLOWER THAN BALLS.
25:26 if you're on low air try not to fill the tank with park brake on try to fill the tank with pedal brake. If you want to fill the air tank while park brake on try to fill the tank fully, otherwise when you release the park brake some of the air will go to the brake chambers and you will be again in low air situation.
I have been a truck driver for a long time a lot of years and I cannot stand Chicago in fact I would try to drive straight across Illinois without stopping anytime I could seriously the longer you drive you’ll figure out the places you don’t want to go. Over 2,000,000 miles myself, now I just run Texas and go home every day
Here is a tip for hour running out of air problem instead of putting your maxies on every air low moment keep im natural push foot on brakes lightly then rev your truck till it hisses at you keep on acceleration till it fills again and your air wont drop as quick
Your running out of so quick because you engage both brakes red and yellow at the same time. when your air builds up and you push both brakes in it takes most all the air you had built up to fill your brake lines. watch your air gauge when you push both lines in... your air drops amost to the red just to fill the lines. then you pump your foot brake which releases air everytime you push the brake peddle. Then when the air is low you pull both tractor and trailer brakes again which uses all the air you just built up to fill the tractor and trailer airlines when you push the knobs in to release the brakes. And as soon as it alarms you pull both brakes again using up all the air you just built up. Watch your air pressure guage when you push in the tractor and trailer brakes... watch the air pressure go down quickly because its having to refill all your brake lines. When your air pressure keeps doing that.. ONLY engage the tractor brakes.. it will use less air when you release only the tractor brakes to start backing again. Nothing is mechanically wrong with that truck.. all the next generation peterbilts use up air like that when you keep engaging both the tractor and trailer brakes at the same time. Remember in CDL school when the yhave you pump the foot brakes until the brake knobs pop out because your out of air.. well, thats what you doing by continuosly pushing the foot brakes while backing.. you are exhausting the air. Then what do you do?? You pop both tractor and trailer brakes again and again using up any air that has built up. Do this... pull your tractor and trailer brake knobs to set the brakes. Then watch the air guage as you push both tractor and trailer brakes in. You can see how much air is depleted from your air tanks by always using both brakes. While backing a rule of thumb is to only use the tractor brakes. You will use less air only having to fill just the tractor brakes to get them to release. This only shows that you are still learning the trucking industry and how different trucks work.

Maybe if he read and paid attention to the “Hate” comments, he might grow, and become a better truck driver…. If you think taking 10 times longer, and making yourself upset, is worth “as long as you got the job done”…. Your delusional… the trouble with new drivers, and yes 2 years experience is new….. is they are rushed through training by people who shouldn’t be trainers, so the only “experience” they are going to get, is from more experienced drivers comments…..

You were either hamming it up to make a more interesting video, or you had a terrible case of analysis paralysis -- I'm sure you know what that is but for anyone who doesn't, this is what it looks like..
My guy each time you set those brakes. It pushes all the air out of the tank and airbags of the trailer. So then when you push your trailer Supply valve back in. You have to put air back in the tank of the trailer and supply air to the airbags. That's where you lose all your air. When you park quit setting your trailer break so much just set the truck. Trailer won't go anywhere on flat, I promise.
Quit setting your trailer brakes man that’s why your losing air every time just pull the yellow not the red also you don’t need to set the brakes to rebuild air pressure just put the truck in neutral keep foot on the brake and then idle up. The only time you ever need to pull the red knob is when your dropping the trailer or backed into dock
It takes time and lots of experience. We've all screwed up one time or another. You'll get to the point to where you can just drive up to a place and look around and know exactly what to do.
Stay away from them automatics alex ,, ask for a straight pipe manualy driven truck ,, and exaust brake right in the middle of town bro lmao ,, good luck with kenny 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Mate, when these things happen, try to place your truck where you initially was and then come out, calculate the space you have. Backing towards the rails was your best option. Driving in Pittsburgh PA, it's even worse.
Bro you can’t be struggling this bad at almost 2 years of experience 🤦🏾♂️ I am terrified of blindside backing but there’s a lot of space there it should not have been that difficult
There are certain situations where you can back into a position, drop the trailer and rebook on the other side if yhat makes sense. When you can't do a turn around.
PLEASE STOP PULLING YOUR TRAILER BRAKES!!!!! Your PSI went down cause you keep suppling air to trailer over and over again, not cause you shift to reverse once!

As a former semi-tractor/trailer driver in the Chicago area I can assure you...Chicago is a fantastic city, Alex. Don't hate the city. I've seen flatbed drivers twist and turn through extremely tight spots...literally nothing 99.9% of drivers would ever be able to do. Sure, there are lots of low bridges, lots of traffic, even train tracks downtown that are on risen tracks that have low clearance. But every large city east of the Mississippi River is going to be like that. *You're doing great!* Just keep it up and enjoy.
STOP PULLING BOTH BRAKES WHEN YOURE BUILDING AIR, TRUCK BRAKE ONLY. Also with how fast you lose air, you must absolutely MASH on the brakes instead of feather
Hey Alex, you did great... Don't listen to the neg comments. When I used to drive local in NY, NJ, CT, PA I have had these types of situations/panic many times. Many city semi drivers have had the same, especially early on in their career. I have two recommendations, do not use your brakes too much or press too hard when backing up. Also, if you have to get out of your cab (only if you are on flat ground) to look around only pull your tractor brakes to prevent losing even more air. One other thing (I'm not exactly sure because I was not present) but on the video it appeared like you could have made the right at the intersection near the building stayed to the right of the cement (jersey) barrier, backed your trailer towards the train tracks and pivot the rear of trailer and jack the front of your trailer right 45 degrees to get turned around. Thanks for sharing your videos.
For one thing you're talking too damn much to be doing any critical thinking... For two you're way overthinking...you need to stop talking, and go back to the basics ...you're a truck driver -- put it on the dock...this is what youve trained for and this is your profession...close the mouth, get in the truck, and dock it...enough already..
The “Air Loss” is him pushing that brake pedal down 10 times harder than he needs too…. It’s a brand new truck with disc brakes, not a 1958 Mack….. Alex if you read this? You don’t need 60 psi of brake pressure every time you use your brakes….. that’s why you lose your air ALL the time…. In every video I’ve ever watched….. if every truck you’ve ever driven has a “problem” holding air????? Maybe it’s NOT the truck!!!!!!!

The fact this guy openly broadcasts to the world how bad he is at trucking has got to be enough reason to be terrified that someone like him has a cdl license.
Loved and subscribed. I relate to you. As a new trucker who is shocked every day as I learn new things! Wow man. Just wow.😮
Bro I’m from the area you were driving in and I hate driving in a four wheeler here couldn’t imagine a doing it in a semi
Why do you pull both parking brakes? You lose so much air doing that. All you need to do it pull your tractor brake.
I used to do that because my thought process was the brakes are there for a reason use them. I've been driving 6 years and probably the last 4 I've only used the tractor brake unless I'm dropping
You should of just turned right and backed towards the railway track, where you initially put your tractor. Then drive back out. And reverse back around to the dock
Hello there Alex! Hope all is well. I have never been to Chicago. Thank you for the video. Bless you fellow and thanks for delivering the goods.
I really think Alex is either braindead or trolling. All he had to do was turn right and then back the trailer along side the railroad Tracks and then pull back out. Like how is that hard? No I’m not saying back ONTO the tracks. And it’s running out of air because you are stomping on the brake the entire time.
Don’t forget about pulling both truck and trailer air lines every time 😂
Him stopping on the highway on-ramp is crazy
Haven’t been back to this channel in awhile and now I remember why; too much drama, too much stress going on. I get enough of that to contend with my own life to be watching someone else’s. Guess I’m gone again. 👋
Can you imagine if you're the customer and you were waiting on this load?
You can see other drivers tracks. I seriously don't see how you have a job
In the middle of the video you saw a semi-truck pull in to the same dock he was trying to get into, no problem
Cheer up buddy, you made it harder on yourself, but at least you got through it and hopefully, you learned your lesson. Stay blessed.
Nothing will ever beat that turn radius of that freightliner as much as I hate the look compared to the peterbilt and kenworth I rather show up with turn radius than looks
I have a 22 freightliner daycab at work, it runs circles around our compan'ys mack trucks with it's turning radius.
@@markcornish6393 I got a 23 sleeper freightliner in a company that mostly uses peterbilt I kill them in turn radius I be looking at all the bent cab extenders and be say dam plus my fifth wheel is all the way back that helps to
How about the Volvos♂️❓️They're terrific IMHO, just sayin'.
Everyday is your worst day and you hate every city you drive through
💯
Coming from a fellow driver Alex never put yourself in a situation without examining it first.
Jesus H Christ how did this guy get a CDL?
Not only that someone from the company approved him to drive as well
Probably had Knee Pads 😂
@@fredokush lol
Seems like you are idling the engine just enough to get the warning light off, which is nowhere close to full.
Fr he kept idling it just to make the alarm go off instead till the governor cut off sneezed off he would’ve had plenty of air not to mention he kept popping and releasing the brakes
Saw you heading east on 80 in Indiana, man your truck can be spotted by about half a mile can't even miss it. Nice footage
Driver of the year got the same truck, the company has two of those kw100yrs Only reason he got one was because of UA-cam and the “drivers” he attracts to the company.
Presses both brakes in and later asks why air pressure drops.
Yes, Chicago traffic is one of the worst ever to experience. Atlanta is right behind it with New York.
You have obviously never been to Los Angeles
Yes I have
So true, I totally agree!
25:26 if you're on low air try not to fill the tank with park brake on try to fill the tank with pedal brake. If you want to fill the air tank while park brake on try to fill the tank fully, otherwise when you release the park brake some of the air will go to the brake chambers and you will be again in low air situation.
Also before you get out of the truck to check stuff , put it on high idle .will build air quicker
Man, that was a great job and stressful. I was even feeling stressed just watching it. Keep up the great work!
Great job? Were you watching the same video>>?
He’s getting to the point of success where he’s criticized for every little thing he does now
I’d love to be in his position. He’s getting paid two full time job salaries for the price of one. This dude is rolling in Cheddar
No he isn’t lol
No he's not. But whatever makes you feel better
When a shipper or receiver sends a guy out to help he becomes your best friend you haven't seen in 20 years never deni help Iam sure they seen it all. Well up until today! Keep on a truckin
Like I said before, you use the brakes too much. I predicted this before the video started. And you press down on the brake hard every time you use it. You can hear the air being released.
like it’s not his truck and he can’t do what he feels comfortable with 😹
@@daymon_1The company doesn’t get value for money if it takes longer than necessary
@@Tom-sg4iv be said it took him an hour and 14 minutes. Lol
There was a few times where all he did was pull forward tho and the truck was out of air
@@jacksonsparrow8865 I never saw that. You can hear how hard he's pressing on the breaks though and how often. And that's even after the edited parts.
3:51 A stop sign at a signalized intersection? That's a new one on me. I guess I'd observe the green light also.
Great video .Safe travels Alex driving the highways seems to get busier everyday no matter where you go.
Man dont worry about then hate comments as long as long as you got the job done
It’s facts
Maybe if he read and paid attention to the “Hate” comments, he might grow, and become a better truck driver…. If you think taking 10 times longer, and making yourself upset, is worth “as long as you got the job done”…. Your delusional… the trouble with new drivers, and yes 2 years experience is new….. is they are rushed through training by people who shouldn’t be trainers, so the only “experience” they are going to get, is from more experienced drivers comments…..
@@mikestewart585the jobs done either way, plus he will learn on his own eventually
If you can't handle constructive critique then you will never improve
Just should have haak tuwah on that thang😂😂
10:30. I can hear Alex drooling like Homer Simpson.
Tip: If GP transco gives you the receiver phone number, always call it. There is a good chance they will have directions and few times instructions.
WOW....that was stressful....but YOU GOT IT DONE!! Good "woosah" moment at the end there. 😌Calming yourself down and then continuing on! Not everyday is a perfect day. Thanks for what you do, man!!!! Can't wait for the next video!
Very impressive work. Beginning to think controllable rear axles like on the long loads would be a good idea.
This was painful to watch. 🤦♂️ He’s been running out of air for years. Can’t believe he still does this. Dude doesn’t learn.
Faaaakk its not problem running out air. The broblem is behind the wheel…
I agree with other comments. Not much off time showing shopping, cooking, casual time. Basically it’s driving mostly.
The sounds of a muppet driving a truck.
💯💯 😅
Kermit. Lol
Don't insult a muppet, they could drive that truck much better
why are u flashing hazard lights on every minor stuff?
its unnecessary and confusing imo
Give up driving it's not for you
Just so you know, when you sing I fast forward
Mate, when these things happen, try to place your truck where you initially was and then come out, calculate the space you have. Backing towards the rails was your best option. Driving in Pittsburgh PA, it's even worse.
Bro you can’t be struggling this bad at almost 2 years of experience 🤦🏾♂️ I am terrified of blindside backing but there’s a lot of space there it should not have been that difficult
Dude how in the world did you pass your driving test ?
I agree...he,s really really bad
Holy S***, just watching this stressed me the F*** out. I don't care if I got 5 dollars a mile, would never try to dock there.
Enjoy your trucking video! Mike from Missouri
There are certain situations where you can back into a position, drop the trailer and rebook on the other side if yhat makes sense. When you can't do a turn around.
Awesome video man I need more haha
PLEASE STOP PULLING YOUR TRAILER BRAKES!!!!! Your PSI went down cause you keep suppling air to trailer over and over again, not cause you shift to reverse once!
I think we can all agree this career isn't for him
Hey he may be going through some things I'm sure he'll be alright we all have those hard to get through days, give the guy a break keep trucking my friend, please stay safe Godspeed.😊
His problem is he came from us express a mega carrier where he was going to big warehouses and drop yards with plenty of room to maneuver to now at gp he going to these places that have tight docks and parking lots and he get nervous and don't know what to do and he to stiff in the seat take the seat belt off when you backing stick your head out and stop peaking out the window
This whole fiasco has to just be for content cause no way .dude thumbs on red valve and pull yellow . I understand if it’s a new driver but you’ve been driving for a minute . You should have been outta there
I feel bad for the engine lmaoo stepping on the pedal every time
Why r u keep braking the trailer jut pull the tractor valve and leave the red valve alone so u don't run out of air..
your riding the brake thats what killing your airpressure
No he didn't. He did afwul actually!
thank you for taking the time to actually be constructive instead of being a dick about it like so many other people. i hope you have a good day!
@@HipHopJunkie82 He did a horrible job... he really should read the comments.
Stay off the brakes so much when you don’t need them then you’ll stop running out of air
OMG, i just got home from the road, im a trucker myself. Im in my bathtub laughing like crazy ! You should be a comedian .LOL i love you!
Alex! Bro , keep the red knob in !!
My first 5 years driving semi I delivered every week to Chicago from Grand Rapids Michigan
Kenny cant breathe
If it's an automated manual transmission, the majority of air loss is the clutch.
Exactly
The “Air Loss” is him pushing that brake pedal down 10 times harder than he needs too…. It’s a brand new truck with disc brakes, not a 1958 Mack….. Alex if you read this? You don’t need 60 psi of brake pressure every time you use your brakes….. that’s why you lose your air ALL the time…. In every video I’ve ever watched….. if every truck you’ve ever driven has a “problem” holding air????? Maybe it’s NOT the truck!!!!!!!
