Watched it to see how to take it apart, mainly to grease the expression pedal up. Imagine my surprise to learn you just turn the large hex bolt. Wow. Thanks for that. And of course, now that I'm going to be using the expression pedal more, this will be my reference in case it does end up breaking.
Thank you so much! I replace the led and the magic light is again visible under the pedal.
Well done! Congrats! 👏👏👏
Perfect! Thanks for the video.
My Helix functions perfect but I also have the FBV3 for my Spider V 240 and there I have exactly this problem and it also have almost the exact same pcb board. Only difference is that the led is labeled D1. Now I know how it looks like on the inside before I open it up. Great!
Well done!
great info and video. Thanks a ton.
thanks bro!!!! your video is ready helpfull. just repair it myself.
Thank you much for this video. Helped a lot. Have great day! Btw i bought smd led 3,2v 2500mcd, white light for 1,80czk. Thats less than 0,1$. Much better than sending it to a service center.
Thank you so much!
cost between 2 and 3 dollars haha.. perfect bro.. also, nice seeing all those Cisco certifications still being put to good use ;)
sidepoint: 1 or 2 of my stompbox switches decide that they don't want to engage every so often when i step on them.. curious if i should do some forum searching of my own now too :) maybe so
Great video! You didn't specified yet what is the value of the LED that you've put as replacement...
Hi I had this problem too. I found that desoldering the joint on the LED fixed the fault. Maybe worth trying before replacing the component. Thanks for sharing your video!
Thank you for the advice, but what do you mean with "desoldering the joint"? Which joint are you talking about?
@@at010990 Hi, I used a suction desoldering tool to remove some of the solder from the joint, then resolder with fresh solder. Although this fix worked fine for around 18 months the problem has returned and the pedal is no longer useable. So I use an external expression pedal now. Good luck but be wary!
good morning, where can I buy the infrared diode D3 Line6 to helix LT online? thanks.
Amazing! does any led works?
Any particular type of LED required for this?
My expression sweep has just done the same.
Thanks for this excellent tutorial! My pedal was dead as well, and not having the means to pay for a repair, i decided to try to find the issue myself. Internet to the rescue! After opening my LT and accessing the situation, i ordered 3 white LEDs (because i couldn't find IR, and reds where too low of a voltage, requiring an extra resistor) for replacement purposes.
I'm curious, with the white LED, how much light leakage do you have out of the Helix LT, when your room is dark?
Hello, are you experiencing any issues like a faulty sensor maybe? Like the unit itself is struggling to determine the amount of volume to deliver?
Could it be possible that the Q1 has a defect?
I managed to fix D3 in my unit but I can’t figure out why my unit is not receiving it properly. When I try to put in max volume, the volume percentage goes crazy. Like it jumps from 70-100 back and fourth. But when I put my volume back to 0, it stays there.
Is there anything I can do about this? Could it be the light that I used? (It was white and it’s really bright) thanks in advance, I’d really appreciate the help on this one I wouldn’t want to spend so much for such a tiny issue.
Hi where I can purchase that LED? any specification for this led?
What if I need replace Q1 receiver? What part is that and where can I find it?
fyi the original LED is infrared so of course it will not be visible when working correctly. The expected voltage drop across D3 should be 1.6-2.2VDC. If you measure 3VDC+ the LED is open and needs to be replaced.
hello, I want to ask friends here. Why does my Line 6 Helix LT experience intermittent sound (no sound even comes out) when the effect is first turned on? However, after 10 minutes the sound returned to normal. does anyone know?
Good afternoon, I just watched your video and I have the same problem with my pedal and unfortunately in Bolivia we do not have a technical service nor do we have the spare parts to request it. I wanted to know if there was any possibility that you could send me that spare part that you changed on your pedal, As I had mentioned here I did not find that spare part, I thank you in advance for the answer
Could you please give specs for the parts? I’ve tried to find them but without voltage, size, etc. I can’t find it.
Also, exactly what it’s called.
Thanks!
Excellent! Shame line 6 build quality isn't like Boss.
Hello! I changed the leds and when I try to input power into it, it works. But when I try to turn the unit on, it doesn’t light up. What could be the problem if that’s the case? Thank you, and I hope this message brings you well.
Watch out for correct polarity. I placed the led loosely in place before soldering. When i turned the unit on it didnt light up. So i rotated it and it worked. Maybe that could be your case.
I don't know I made some mistake, but it didn't work for me....
Is there a correct mounting direction for the diode... maybe you soldered it in the opposite direction?
why wouldn’t you just get Line 6 to replace it? Any LT that the expression pedal breaks like this, they will replace the unit, not repair, at no charge regardless of warranty status.
Hi. Where did you get this info? My expression pedal just broke and I am looking for ways to fix it
@@isacciobota This is just their policy for them on the LT product because of a flaw from the initial production runs. Open a support ticket with them and they’ll look after you. They may have different methods of dealing with this outside of the United States due to distributor agreements and methods but they have been doing this for years now.
Thank you. Helped me fix quickly and easily with leaving the link to the part.
