Yesterday I believed I have heard the best version of this piece, but this one is even better. In fact, the best I have heard, ever.

K364 was a masterpiece of creation by Mozart and these two execute this very well indeed, Tim and Alexander work so well together, it's a conversation! they talk they harmonise they agree and joust they make love.they cry, the share pathos just incredible, the orchestra has equally important role not just providing background accompaniment but bringing an extra dynamic dimension of musicality only Mozart could do. Love Tim's facial expression His love for this is quite clear. Bravo!!

Stunning performance. Top notch ensemble. And the dialogues between A. Sitkovetksy and T. Ridout are unworldly subtle and endlessly profound.

Totally spectacular!!! Love watching all of the players respond to one another. Ridout + Sitkovestksy need to work together more often - they bring out the best in eachother!!

This is a very dynamic, energetic and fun-loving performance. They did a beautiful job of unifying the orchestra. Some original timing they took in the calendar, just a valid as some other well-known soloists. I particularly liked the approach to phrasing during the second movement, very musical and touching!

Another wonderful performance with Alexander and a very fine orchestra. When the viola echoes the violin I melt. BRAVO maestros.

Finally, a recording where the viola predominates. The violinist plays a little bit sharp, which is typical of violinists today. They use it as a form of projection; but it's quite annoying if you have really good ears.
I'm very pleasantly surprised by the violist.

I love this version. I don’t want to be that person; especially that, I am no pro musician, but I can't help but feel that something is off...just past 29:56 for the viola. Idk still one of my favourite versions

Are strongly influenced by the composer's visit to the court of Mannheim. Under the influence of the composer-conductor Christian Cannabich of the mighty Manchai Orchestra - the key of the work is E flat major - the original score for the viola is written in D major, which is a semitone lower. Since the viola is tuned a semitone higher (Accorda un mezzo tono più alto), this makes it possible to use “open strings” more frequently. It is this process that allowed Mozart at the time to give the viola a brighter sound, closer to that of the violin (and also facilitated, at the same time, the execution of the viola part) , in order to obtain a clearer, tighter, more vigorous sound. Nowadays, violists mostly play in E flat major, which gives the instrument a darker, sadder, more romantic sound. The complex orchestral dynamics of the composition reflect the growing technical proficiency of the European orchestra of that period and were strongly influenced by the cavalier de Saint-George whom he had met in Paris and whose Violin Concerto No. 5 Mozart quotes in the final movement.

@@joy950453 how Not happening. I'm a violist of high stature and I play 16 inches, and this violist is short and it's clear that he has a small viola.))
