  • Check out this hanging light I made from recycled cardboard and a little wood for structure. It's a pretty simple lighting project that can be adapted to all sorts of sizes and shapes.

    Love all your ideas! They are always so different and you explain everything so clearly. I would love to watch you make something with a concrete top. I would like to see what method you would use. Keep up the great work!

      I have a video showing how I did a "cheater" concrete table top, but have not done a real concrete top yet. If we ever build a house, I might make some poured concrete counter tops. ua-cam.com/video/3kPKlCeuwSA/v-deo.html

    Great project and you are such a good teacher as well :)). That sound in the background outside at one point sounded like a metallic cricket!! Too funny😅😅😅 And you could even paint the cardboard pieces any color you want as well :))

      MrDiyDork Or if you are crazy enough you could use paper of different kinds, wall paper, contact paper, etc or even fabric I guess for decorating with a theme. Just some thoughts. You know these crafty women, they can decorate something with almost anything, I tell you! Like how they made a beautiful wreath out of coffee filters!! Some creative minds, you are one of them as well :))

    Great project! I can see so many different ways to do this and it still be very cool. I'm thinking it would be fun to do one with ribbon instead of cardboard for a little girls room or do one with yarn maybe for your grandmother. I'll kinds of great ways to use this. Thanks for another great project!

      After I finished it up, I was thinking the same thing. If I added more dowel rods, I could probably weave some rope around it for an interesting look.

    Brillaint cnc machine for cardboard would have saved ya a few headaches lol

    • @MrDiyDork
      @MrDiyDork  6 років тому +2

      A cnc could take this project up a bunch of notches. I used to run one at a sign shop I worked for about 10 years ago. I used to experiment with ideas like this all the time. Nowadays, I try to keep my projects simple without needing to use too many specialized tools. I'd still take a cnc if someone gave me one though. haha

    Hello, great project. You really inspired me to start flipping furniture. I watch all your videos. The past two weeks I have been breaking my back, I have done two dresser and a table with four chairs. I have listed them on Craigslist and three or four other free websites. So far I have no emails or calls on anyone wanting to buy. I have got several scammers waiting over seas cashier checks but no one serious. How long do it usually take to sell? Do you get several people interested in buying? Or usually just one serious buyer? Please help because I am starting to lose hope. Thanks

    • @MrDiyDork
      @MrDiyDork  6 років тому +2

      Sometimes it can take a while. Some of my pieces sell within days. Sometimes they take a month or longer. The more classic/timeless/neutral my pieces are the better they sell. Most of the latest pieces are a bit "out there" color/design wise, and they've been taking a bit longer to sell. I used to get a few tire kickers before something sold, but lately, I've been finding that one serious buyer for them. I usually just use Craigslist, which is easy, but draws in lower price buyers. I've been experimenting with Offer Up and LetGo, and they seem to have similar buyers. I haven't tried Facebook, but that might do better. I think if I found a booth in a bigger city or boutique store, they might sell for higher prices, but like I said, I've just kept it simple with my local Craigslist for the most part.
      If you haven't checked it out already, I made a video series about how I buy & sell furniture that might give you some ideas. ua-cam.com/video/FmCMivZdWRU/v-deo.html

      MrDiyDork right after I posted this comment I made my first sale :-) I have actually made several sales this past week and they all came from Craigslist. I sold out all my furniture and I am currently working on more. Yes I see that buys go for the timeless look. I did have one set back. I sold two night stands and it was raining outside, and I didn't use enough coats of poly. The buyer had to bring thing back. The poly was so wet and thin it was actually just peeling off like glue. Thank you so much for your help and inspiration. I watched all of your videos. Keep them coming. Thanks
