It reminds me of the prologue of Web Of Dreams, The Prequel to Heaven where Annie visits Farthingale Manor aka "Farthy" and she finds her Grandmother Leigh's Diary. Another fantastic Flashback Scene was on Guiding Light in 2006 three years before it was cancelled when Olivia Spencer goes back to 1983 and remembers going to a Dance that she wasn't supposed to go to, gets in thanks to a nice young man and she is raped. She tells her mother that she's pregnant and her mother is so upset she suffers a stroke and dies. For a long time Olivia blamed herself for what she did.
Cain only forgave faith at her death. He seemed hard hearted but faith left her kids with another abusive man. That's why chas and cain at so close. But everyone relies on cain to save the day like always. Did shadrach know cain wasn't his and that was why he abused him? He never hit chas. Chas did leave Aaron too. Cain loves his kids but couldn't always show it because of how shadrach treated him. Zac his dad wasn't there for him either
