Never had This Happen: Losing Lures to Gar while Limiting on Bass

I've never lost so many lures to gar in my life! In fact I have only lost a couple lures ever to gar cutting the line. Gar have a unique bite: they just snap down on prey and swim off with it before swallowing it. I was puzzled by the gar bites initially, because of the proximity to the bass at that depth, until one cut the line; then it made sense to me. I had lost my soft plastic several times when setting the hook, before figuring it out, because the gar just snapped onto the stick bait, but figuring it out and catching that limit of bass made it a very fun morning on the water!
