WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use UA-cams lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and UA-cam deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

I got it in the last sale. It's one of my top most lovely watches. The bracelet and hands don't get enough love in reviews.

I love it, but not for the money. There's no reason for an affordable brand to do a limited edition like this. I don't need artificial scarcity or an artificially high price.

I agree. Any limited edition creates artificial scarcity, and I find it an odd choice in this case. Given the potential large Chinese market for a striking watch with a strong link to Chinese culture, I wonder if this was the wrong watch to limit. Surely I can't be the only one thinking how cool it would be to collect a complete set of the Chinese zodiac. Such a set would probably have a market value well above the cumulative cost of the watches when new.
I would love it if they would also make a more affordable quartz version. It could have a solid back with an engraved snake and I believe would find a ready market.
What may be an affordable watch today, may not be so in the future. The mentality that's its chinese therefore doesn't deserve money is crazy. China will build quality to demand. The more we buy or demand better things they will provide. And those prices will still be less than the European market equivalent.
The green dial looks rather good.
At $450,- even for a 'limited amount' (not believing this for a bit, they definitely made more) we're firmly not within 'Chinese Watches' realms anymore.
San Martin is just trying. They set themselves apart previously through quality and finish. Now they try to set themselves above the rest through pricing, when in reality, you're not getting a whole lot more/extra with this watch apart from a big heap of FOMO from the limited amount.
If customers en-masse let them do this and keep buying, I see them make a $550,- watch in no time. And a $650,- one after that.
Haven't heard any negative comments about last year's Dragon ltd ed watch being over produced. San Martin with sellita and ETA going up market, why not.
@@Dylan-xp6pkthey have watches with ETA movements? I know they’ve offered sellita movements for a number of years.
Buy or don’t I guess I paid 250 for mine it’s Ali express if they are sitting they will heavily discount them. We should teach them a lesson and not buy them 😅. I’m not a fan of the year of the 🐍 dial anyway

That black fume and gold one is the pick of the bunch. Looks like it would blow a Grand Seiko out of the water, at what, a 20th of the price? Yeah it's got an off the shelf engine, but so what? It's terrific.
Agreed. They've done a diver with a very similar colourway and a black and gilt bezel - sn0118. Mine arrived this week and it's fantastic.
Love the NH35, but the Miyota 9015 is just soooo good for just a bit more. I want a Henry Archer with a 9000 series.
That green dial is something that looks cool in videos but for everyday use becomes annoying and cheap looking.
The extra cost could only be from the assembly changes and the new dial and hands - since the bulk of R&D and production is around the case+bracelet, so its not significant.
A markup of 30% basically means San Martin are just charging you more because they think they can.
It’s very handsome, the colours utilised on the ‘year of the snake’ variant gives the watch a bit of a 70’s vibe.

€522,69 (including €30 discount), Gary. In euro's they're always way more expensive than in dollars. Some VAT added and we'd be lucky to pick it up under €600. It's probably an excellent watch, as we're used to from San Martin, but when Americans can pick it up for $420 (excluding VAT) I'd feel cheated. So no, it would leave me with a bad taste anytime I'd wear it.
Ali now includes VAT in their pricing, so the price you see is the price you pay
You can get a free sample of this watch for $50, shipping included, directly from SM. This is why youtubers love this bad brand. They'll never reveal this though.
As good as the bracelet is I think that the fitted FKM [gapless at the case] is extra special

which color looks better to you between the blue and the black/gilt?
Blue for me but they have a white that I can’t wait to see in a video if the effect comes through it might be the winner in opinion.
The rubber strap looks decent, nicely fitted to the case. I much prefer rubber straps to Nato staros now.
The Red One Is Fabulous I could be tempted to get the blue one as well

Is it true that you can switch out San Martin steel bracelets for another strap? I hear they’re fitted to the case.
The stack height of the hands is different between 9039 and 9015, I believe the 90S5 is the same as the latter however so it allows the same hands to be reused which is possibly the reason why they picked it?
for less than a maen manhattan with way more action on the dial in the light... the price is spot on imo, especially with the new hands, not an nh35, their on the fly clasp, their reputation for build quality and finishing... also probably at least one other point i can't think of just now. solid choice.
Not much of a gamble that the movement choice is so because they intend to produce an open dial version
I love everything here, these are great. Except that San Martin logo. It's mock Tag Heuer look is so ungainly. If they change it I'd buy.
I quite fancy one of these (the original, not the limited edition), but the listing is inconsistent for the size of wrist it will fit. Can you confirm, with the ones you have, what size wrist they fit? I have a slightly under 200 mm wrist, so would prefer 210 mm or larger. Thanks.
The orginal 39mm or the 42mm will fit. I have 200mm wrist/8inches. The 39 fits fine.

@ilikewatches Thanks! 5:46 I'm interested in because of blue silicone strap. It looks good on your wrist. My wrist unfortunately is too small, around 6,3" and these straps like this are usually too long. Could you measure the length of this strap? I guess it's 12+8 cm. For me the perfect size would be 11+7 cm.

Many watch channels script their videos and some even hire script writers, mine is all live and unplanned which makes it feel more natural but that does mean a few um's sadly...

Aesthetically, I don't really like these SMs. The only SM I'd like to buy today is the green-brown SN0115-G.
Personally, I'll take NH movements and a lower price.
Plus, the way-out dials are starting to make me think of SM as novelty pieces - they need to remember that people still like classic colours, subtle sunburst effects etc.
Then you will have to accept a 2-3mm thicker case...

I bought an orange fume on bracelet . I love it . Would love a rubber strap . Such a good watch for the sale , $300.
Newer colors may mean I bought too early but a great original design , the 144 .
The construction , finishing, movement are so good it looks and feels like a $1000 watch
