1.) Stretching the leg muscles especially the calf 2.) Loosening these muscles as well as my foot with a massage bar and ball 3.) Dipping legs in warm epson salt water 4.) Applying inflammation cream 5.) Rest 6.) Ice. These are the six steps I have taken to help bring down the extreme stabbing pains I have in my ankles. As help to support my recovery I have bought custom orthotics and shoes with arch support as well as a lace up ankle brace. Through all of my research and time this has been my approach to help repair and avoid surgery. I pray for all who are enduring this painful condition and hope this message gives hope as well as comfort for those who are currently suffering through this. I know how painful it can be, but through taking these steps and rest it has got better 4 me personally over two weeks time. Good luck and stay strong with Love and Blessings 2 All !

I had great pain relief with one of these lace up braces with crossed velcro straps along with a rigid arch supporting orthotic and medial heel wedge. It seemed to take work off the PTT. I used the ASO brace on Amazon and paid about $35. It is important to get the right size. The cross strap has to go just behind the arch and turn your foot inward a little when you put it on, like this guy describes. Ultimately in my case it was not successful, and I tried a Richie style brace that cost $700 that did no better. So I had surgery for stage 2 PTTD.

So when do you stop wearing the brace or do uou have like a titration type plan to slowly wean off it? I thankfully bought this and a couple days in i feel much better and id like to get out of it but dont want to be too ambitious and hurt myself again. I have congenital flat feet and suspect i just had too many days in flip flops on vacation, im not a doctor but because i can still go tip toe on that one foot and its not causing me to limp or extra wear on inner part of my shoe i caught this early and its mild 🤞
Custom orthotics always makf my feet feel worse, good running shoes and sometimes good otc orthotics always seemed to do more for me.

Had a biking accident last April and ended up being diagnosed with PTT after 3 months of waiting for it to heal and never did … fast forward here 9 months later after trying physical therapy and 2 different orthopedic docs and the pain and swelling is still there. Ive had issues with this tendon and my arch for years. I have a variety of stiff and flexible orthodics. My Posterior Tibial Tendon gets knotted where it ends on the side of the mid arch, about the size of a quarter. The rest of the tendon is fine without pain! Weird. I do trigger point release on it, but the tension/knotting returns quickly. Any ideas on what to do?

Try distilled water for 30 days and avoid acidic foods and foods that trigger inflammation like sodas etc. Wearing the right size shoes, the insoles, and how you wear them matter. Also high top shoes worn snug but not extremely tight should help. Depends if if you still have an arch too I’d think. I’m not a doctor

I started doing light exercises with my foot in all different directions with a light kettlebell and exercise bands. Nobody exercises they’re lower leg tendons and muscles. This fixed 80% of the issue.

Hi! 3 months post right ankle sprain (& small left foot fractures- now healed)
Left ankle had a boot for 5 weeks, slowly transitioned to lace up brace. Posterior tibial pain persisted. PT for 6 weeks, no improvement on the tendon. Custom orthotics. Continued trying to strengthen, walking increased and some exercising but avoiding anything much on the ankle. Still angry. MRI showed fluid and significant tenosynovitis. Cortison shot in the tendon sheath 2 days ago. Now what? 😂 how much do I rest it? Just wing it and watch for pain? Brace? I’m getting mixed answers since I wasn’t following the norm. If it doesn’t resolve in 4 weeks they’ll be looking at doing the surgery to clean it out.

I think that if you have a condition in most case it wont fix with all these magic methods. Sometimes fixing the bottom problem maybe be the only solution. For example, I have really flat feet and I have tried orthotics that doctos swear they make wonders but they cause more pain than any good. I feel that at this point going to surgery will be the best option because after all when you have flat feet with all these exercises, orthotics, braces and expensive shoes all you are doing is covering up the real problem which in my case is flat feet. I have the same condition as you fluid in the shea and tendonitis aside from plantar fascitis and a bunion. All caused while wearing the recommended expensive shoes with customized expensive orthotics and a number of exercises. I guess All these remedies are just band aid for underlying more serious conditions that sometimes just need surgery or more drastic corrections.
