The insurance company will schedule the Peer Review with your doctor. Your doctor is the best advocate for you. Nine times out of ten...this works.
everyone just upvote Molly Nicoles comment, it needs to be pinned seriously this need to be done, just half a dollar from every subscriber would raise twise the money for that arm
I am just imagining videos in the future hearing Shane coming on screen saying "helping, helping, helping" and carrying something using the JACO arm. This is such a nifty tool!
I agree with the other subscribers! If insurance says no go fund me account will cover it in a day! We love you guys and would love to be able to help!😘
If I calulated righy, if each of his followers sent like 8 cents it would pay for it. Obviously everyone wont, but definitely we could make this happen!
You beat me by 11 hours but yeah ! pretty sure one way or the other you will get this Arm. You are an inspiration for me and a lot of us I'm sure and if I can give back to you by helping you get that extension of yourself, Dam!! I'm not rich but I will help you.
@Bogdan P Keep on saving your hard earned money, no one asked you for it.. HAH! I am all for the GoFundMe if one is started, best to you Shane and Hannah.
Kelly Forester i doubt it. I’m exhausted from being in a relationship with a “normal guy” that is 28 years old and doesn’t take care of anything and has such an attitude. I would gladly take care of someone that actually needed it as long as they made me happy with chemistry at least similar to what they have.
Being able to get out of the house in an emergency is a great platform for arguing why you absolutely need this and why your insurance should cover it if they try and deny you.
I was thinking he could even use it to move his head back in a comfortable position or scratch an itch, etc... All things he has to ask Hannah to do for him. GOOD LUCK SHANE!!!
Having a son with SMA like Shane I can totally appreciate the fact that just even being able to go grocery shopping or throw in the laundry or get your own drink is actually massive (my sons only 8 but these videos give me so much hope for his independence when he’s older given that we’re already here at this point). Also from an economic standpoint it’s probably actually cheaper over all to get these types of things out to people as the cost of PSWs/ Nurses etc is so expensive (unless you’re lucky enough to have a “Hanna” and two really able and supportive families, most people don’t) costs become quite reduced for every extra bit of independence that they can get...
YES! If you get denied it would be an honor to overwhelm their office with hundreds of thousands of letters ro the point where they would approve you just to stop the letters.....but.....I know you wouldn't want to spend the wait time just to prove to them by letters how absurd it was to deny you (even though it would likely help other SMA patients to not be denied) or maybe that thought would be giving the insurance company way too much credit.....but if you did a go fund me, I have no doubt you would have your arm (or the money to purchase one) in literal days. So, don't worry.....IF you are denied.....your people will make sure you get something that would change your life so drastically.....I ASSURE you.....
they should appeal even if people will help fund one. appealing helps other people in the future that want to fight the insurance company that doesn't have a platform like they do
Do you mind disclosing what medical condition you have that you got the robot approved? I only ask because I am c5 quadriplegic and wondering if other quadriplegics have managed to get one.
"oh soups everywhere" lol hes so chill during trying times lol. I would want shane near me if the plane we were in was plunging towards earth lol he would prolly say "oh planes falling" XD
I literally started tearing up when Shane started talking about all of the things he's never been able to do before, but that he could do with the JACO arm. FOLKS, WE NEED TO GET HIM THAT ARM AT ANY COST!!!!
I worked on the engineering team that desiged this robot and was the product manager for the last 5 years. I am so happy to see that what we did has a positive impact! I really hope you can get one. Cheers from Canada
The fact that Shane was able to pick up how to use that arm so fast is just amazing! I know that I would never be able to learn something so fast. That arm is meant for Shane I really really hope that he gets that arm and that it becomes for accessible for others as well. Would also be willing to donate to a gofundme as well!
I Myself have a Disability and I actually used this arm myself! it was really cool and I could even pick up a cup. This type of arm would really help people with muscle weakness and other physical limitations. It's really awesome
Hannah, I love seeing you automatically reach over to steady Shane's head when you turn. My husband is blind in his right eye and, after 30 years of marriage, I automatically give warnings of uneven pavement, curbs and steps. I don't even think about it. You two are blessed to have one another.
My best friends blinds and little things like that when we are walking sighted guide just come normally. At first it was weird but it’s at a point when I’m just like oh heads up we are going to go on a little slope and just keep talking
I think Shanes hair makes him look older-and Shane has such a following, we all would stand behind him and help in anyway-I say any money the insurance does not cover, create a go fund me-----whether someone can give 1.00 or 20.00 or whatever, it will help. Watching Shane use that arm with success and going home with out one is so sad----I know even if you had the money he probably would not have came home with one today lol but at the same time, it was so exciting to see the possibilities and how successful he was with the arm and now he may not get one or have to wait years is angering and frustrating to see. I can imagine how you both feel.
I think it is great that everyone is willing to pitch in so Shane can get a robot if his insurance company denies him. Go Fund me is great - but it doesn't address the problems with our for-profit health insurance system in our country. In addition to donating to GoFundMe, write to your Senators and Congresspeople about our need for universal healthcare coverage.
The JACO arm is amazing!!! I caregive for my cousin that has duchenne muscular dystrophy it took him a while during the trial to figure it out but the controls go on his chair and he now is a master at it and it helps him with soooo much! He loves it!
I absolutely love how caring Hannah is for Shane, as it seems to come so naturally to her. For example, she constantly helps his head stay upright (while driving) by holding him when they go around corners. I love that it's no effort or thought, it's just something she does for Shane involuntary! You guys always make my day, when I see that you've posted. I absolutely love your STORY ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

In this strange time where there is so much hate in the world, it's so inspiring to see how many GOOD people there are that just want to help! Also, thanks for putting subtitles on your videos by default!
Wow, Shane's eyes just sparkle. You could really see how he wants to progress and be more independent. Honestly, you really motivated me. I am an electrical engineering student but I've always been interested into medicine, and seeing how technology + medicine can help people in the ways we can't even imagine is just amazing. I hope Shane is going to get that robo arm. I also hope in the future it won't be as pricey and be even more flexible. I just wanted to say that I love you two and that you inspire more people than you think. I follow your channel because you spread love and positivity, but look I got motivated, so that's a bonus.
This was so eye-opening. To see how much more Shane would be able to do was amazing. And made me stop and realize how much I take for granted. If insurance doesnt cover this, please let us help! Every dollar will get you closer!

Thanks for always sharing your perspective and experiences. This robot arm is absolutely necessary and I will keep my fingers crossed for you guys!!!

This made me cry in a good way. Being disabled myself with progressively weakening hands - nowhere as disabling as Shane's, I could feel the joy Shane felt as he was able to do simple tasks, Praying it all comes through
Shane, I have been following your story since I found Laughing at my Nightmare on Tumblr YEARS ago. I remember you posting on Tumblr about this girl you were dating, Hannah, and I'm just so happy to have seen your beautiful relationship flourish. And then when you started UA-cam I somehow found your channel and I got to follow your life some more. Somehow I have been following you for years and it has brought me so much joy. I am so happy for you that there are now reatment options for your disease and cool adaptations for your wheelchair. I just wanted you and Hannah to know that your love for each other inspires and motivates me. Thanks for being a positive constant in my life for a long time :)
Whatsup Hes trying to Venmo him the money so gofundme doesn’t take 10%. What are you even talking about? YOU should be, “ashamed of yourself,” for coming for someone when they were only being nice, and you obviously misunderstood.
It's plain to see how empowering a JACO would be - it would literally open doors for you! I echo similar comments that you should consider crowd funding, I'd happily pledge!
Love Shane's face and his incredible personality. You both compliment each other. What you have is rare, and it has nothing to do with his disability, it is just that rare love that not everyone will have.
I'm so excited for you. I was moved to tears when you began to stack the blocks. If you don't get approved, which I surely doubt, then I hope you'll consider a fund raiser. I was also thinking how useful this will be with a baby in the house. Please keep us posted. I know we'll all be happy to write letters on your behalf. And, yes, you should hide one object in every video. You'll be improving our skills as well. Love you guys so much!💞
Chats like this bring to light just how many things most of us take for granted. The taking a drink by our self, opening a door, scratching an itch, the grocery store examples etc...You don't realize until you're reminded like this just how fortunate we are. ♡ thank you for reminding me during a really difficult time in my life that I do have so many things to be grateful for. Even if they aren't the obvious thing's they are truly the most important thing's!
This is AMAZING!! As someone with a physical disability myself (although not nearly as severe as SMA), being able to be as independent as possible is HUGE. I'm praying, sending good vibes, doing a happy dance, and anything else that could help you get this literally life changing piece of equipment!!
I was floored when they brought out the spoon lmao. I know there are many more uses for this, but that's when it hit me just how life-changing that thing would be for someone like you. I hope you get it!
I just found your UA-cam channel. I was binge-watching last night! I’d donate, too! Shane, your crazy sense of humor helps me stay sane during this crazy pandemic. You are my favorite sit-down comedian! Your wife is your best audience! You two make the world a better place.
I cried tears of happiness when you were talking at the end after trying JACO over simple actions that we all take for granted that Shane will be excited to do for himself for the first time! As an engineer, this is what I love to see - technology being used for good and genuinely improving a person’s quality of life :) I’m crossing all digits and hoping you get one Shane! Just think, you would be able to take out the trash for Hannah as well! 🤣
Oh wow ! This would be amazing for both of you! I am disabled, and know how good it feels to be able to do things on your own. Fingers and toes crossed for you both that the arm is approved and approved quickly!
I had my head shaved a few years ago (I'm a woman!) in solidarity with chemo patients & gave all 24 inches of hair I had then 😄 Being bald is fun, especially in the summer, and I loved growing it out so much! Love the look on Shane ❤️❤️
Wow, this actually made me emotional! 100% think a go fund me would raise the money super fast!!! Just a reminder that being able to use arms is a gift! Wow!!
Ahhh not really - because he wont be able to sanitize it ( unless they have a bucket with sanitizer that is ;) ) If he shakes someone’s hand that has covid, and doesn’t sanitize, the arm could become a carrier and infect other people - and if he uses it to touch something that comes in contact with himself or Hannah, it could infect them selves....
Crossing my fingers for you from New Zealand that insurance pays up! If you get denied I know that you have lots of supporter me included who would happily donate to help fund one. I’ve had a major knee injury and now surgery and I have had my eyes opened to what disability Accessibility can mean to a person. I’ve discovered (the hard way) there are places I can’t go into or toilets I can’t use. It can be very isolating and a struggle. I have loved seeing your channel and your passion and drive is amazing! Keep up the awesome work 🥰🙌🤞
Shane looks he just joined the marines! That medicine looks so much easier than spinraza I don't mind AT ALL if anything is out of order in ur background If they deny it - please do a go fund me and I'll contribute too
Oh my goodness! I can’t imagine experiencing the kind of freedom the arm gave you and then having to walk away!! Hoping the process to your dream is a quick one!
Also I loved the rant about the masks!! people need to hear it , a lot of people I feel like at this point think the pandemic is over & everything is back to normal 🙄 so many people have stopped wearing masks
Or never wore them to begin with! Such a simple action to protect those around us. I have to wear one for work and started wearing them before the requirement was announced. Part of my state starts mandatory mask wearing next week. I am glad. There are so many people with underlying conditions who will be helped by this!
Yup they always say something like theres a 99 survival rate etc well if wearing this mask saves atleast one person I'm okay with that if rather wear it then end up killing someone because of my choices
@@tthappyrock368 I wear them at work as well, and all of a sudden people stopped wearing masks & we don't like it ! 😅 Haha like the number of cases have never once stopped climbing or started to decline, at least here in North Carolina, so it's strange that people have decided they're unnecessary anymore. It's cool that part of your state is making them mandatory !

Thanks for being a positive constant in my life for a long time :)
someone start a gofunme, ill donate, Shane deserves it.
Skip the GoFundMe. We can all Venmo our donations directly to Shane! His VENMO account is:
@shaneburcaw
Do it today! I did!👍🏼💸💸💸💸👍🏼
John Marino you should be ashamed of yourself
Whatsup Hes trying to Venmo him the money so gofundme doesn’t take 10%. What are you even talking about? YOU should be, “ashamed of yourself,” for coming for someone when they were only being nice, and you obviously misunderstood.
Kelly Forester Shane doesn’t have a venmo
@@potsno6 i think ur right! Anyone can start a Venmo under someone's name u just have to make an email address.
I got paralyzed when I was 11 years old by falling 80 feet out of a bamboo tree but Shane you are a true inspiration buddy
hiii
how r you ?
That is the coolest thing ever! You could put Hannah's wedding ring on her finger at your wedding! ❤️
omg i didn't even think of this!! how incredible would that feel?? such an amazing tool!
Oh Amy, that's absolutely THE best thing he could do!! How lovely that you thought of such an awesome use for it!! ❤
"Uh oh soups everywhere"
.."That's why we start you with mashed potatoes 🙃"
Dunno why that gave me a good laugh
Love you guys so much!💞
Shane, you're going to get your arm. Some way. Somehow. It's going to happen. Your community will make it happen one way or another.
If they deny your arm, do a GoFundMe!
Aristoteles 98 I hope they do. I would definitely donate to help them out.

Who’s your insurance through? Let’s all tweet them!!! “Give Shane the arm!!!” 😄👍🏼😉
LOL! That could be his slogan, "Give Shane the arm, not the finger!"
@@peteypickles3262 that's cool
When you moved the rolling tray I though ohh how cute if that was a stroller with your baby taking a walk
Oh my goodness. We need to get you that arm!!!!!!!!!!!! Somehow. Someway. Go fund me, yard sales, bake sales, whatever !!!!!!!
I actually like the new haircut Shane.
Could we have an update on Ducky and Squirt please
The hair cut looks great! I kinda like how the scar looks too, makes him a badass 🤖
Start a go fund me - everyone puts in one dollar - BOOM
Praying for GOOD NEWS from the insurance company for his essential equipment! Hair looks cute..and I'm sure so much cooler! God bless.
Omg he deserves that arm!!! Imagine when he gets the hang of it? He could FEED himself? That’s amazing!!!
This is AMAZING!! As someone with a physical disability myself (although not nearly as severe as SMA), being able to be as independent as possible is HUGE. I'm praying, sending good vibes, doing a happy dance, and anything else that could help you get this literally life changing piece of equipment!!
Praying, and all fingers crossed!!!!!
He totally have the head shape for this haircut, I really think he should keep it.
Really handsome... Big hugs from Norway :)
Norge! Yey!
I was floored when they brought out the spoon lmao. I know there are many more uses for this, but that's when it hit me just how life-changing that thing would be for someone like you. I hope you get it!
I actually like Shane’s haircut. But there is nothing about him I don’t like!
Yes I agree. I think his hair looks good like this.
I agree! Looks fresh for summer :)
I just found your UA-cam channel. I was binge-watching last night! I’d donate, too!
Shane, your crazy sense of humor helps me stay sane during this crazy pandemic.
You are my favorite sit-down comedian! Your wife is your best audience! You two make the world a better place.
"No need to patronize me." I felt that deep.
Also I love that you all use subtitles ♥️
OMG!! I was crying happy tears watching Shane do all the things!! Praying and hoping with all my heart for insurance to approve!!
When Shane will get the arm i could see him slaping hanna's butt
😂
💯
This made me emotional lol I can't imagine how amazing it feels to be able to do things yourself for the first time like that
I cried tears of happiness when you were talking at the end after trying JACO over simple actions that we all take for granted that Shane will be excited to do for himself for the first time!
As an engineer, this is what I love to see - technology being used for good and genuinely improving a person’s quality of life :)
I’m crossing all digits and hoping you get one Shane! Just think, you would be able to take out the trash for Hannah as well! 🤣
" i feel like a toddler on the first day of preschool" awwwww. it looks good on you Shane.. this was a cool video. I hope he gets approved for it!
If everyone who viewed this donated 2 bucks ( that wouldn't even get you a small starbucks coffee) then the robotic arm would be paid for.
I'm down! I say let's do it!!
I’m super down for that too!! 🙌🏼❤️
For real! We should do it
In
@@siickheartz I'm down for that too!!
Oh wow ! This would be amazing for both of you! I am disabled, and know how good it feels to be able to do things on your own. Fingers and toes crossed for you both that the arm is approved and approved quickly!
I had my head shaved a few years ago (I'm a woman!) in solidarity with chemo patients & gave all 24 inches of hair I had then 😄
Being bald is fun, especially in the summer, and I loved growing it out so much! Love the look on Shane ❤️❤️
This is amazing, if only everyone in a wheelchair with limited mobility could have one of these, it would be life changing
For some reason I really loved the part where she gave Shane’s head some support in the car 🤍
It's automatic for her now.
Me too because it was just so natural, and it truly shows how she doesn’t feel burdened by Shane. He’s her world and she’s his.
I loved too ♡
Its very motherly
@@ziutasow2244 not motherly. Loving.
Wow, this actually made me emotional! 100% think a go fund me would raise the money super fast!!! Just a reminder that being able to use arms is a gift! Wow!!
Crossing my fingers, toes and eyes for this, Shane! I can see it would really be an enormous help. Truly hoping it all works out and you get it asap.
I shared this video with my boyfriend he has DMD and this would be life changing for him as well!! ❤️😁 I really hope you get approved
With the arm Shane will be the only person who can safely shake someone’s hand during Covid
This should have more likes
Ahhh not really - because he wont be able to sanitize it ( unless they have a bucket with sanitizer that is ;) )
If he shakes someone’s hand that has covid, and doesn’t sanitize, the arm could become a carrier and infect other people - and if he uses it to touch something that comes in contact with himself or Hannah, it could infect them selves....
No. It would still need to be sanitized after.
Keep up the awesome work 🥰🙌🤞
We could all give a dollar 💵 and get it for you. Start a PATREON!!!!
They have one!
I think he already has one...
I actually like Shane's hair. It reminds me of my first haircut in Air Force Basic Training.
Shane looks he just joined the marines!
That medicine looks so much easier than spinraza
I don't mind AT ALL if anything is out of order in ur background
If they deny it - please do a go fund me and I'll contribute too
I love the little ways Hannah shows her love. Like holding Shane's neck while turning without him asking. It's the little things!
Oh my goodness! I can’t imagine experiencing the kind of freedom the arm gave you and then having to walk away!! Hoping the process to your dream is a quick one!
there's a lot of people like me that would do something to help you to get that, so stay positive!
Seriously can we make this into a legit PSA that plays on TV and everything?!
@@carrieleo3561 I agree, people need to hear it !
Literally crossing my fingers as you speak. That's so wonderful! I pray the insurance company responds positively and quickly!!
Why am I almost in tears watching Shane use this arm😢 i am like a proud mom over here
Shane's haircut makes him look younger. Prayers that you get approved for the Jaco arm
I just love them. You can tell that even if they weren't married, they would be best friends.
My fingers are crossed for you. I really hope everything goes through for your arm without any problems. Good luck to you both!!
