As someone who's been following YG artists since the 2nd Gen, this was a really big and mature move from the company. YG doesn't fck around whenever he says he only wants to debut a specific number of members so this one was truly shocking. Now here's to hoping all their songs are gonna be good.
I cried when he announced the new board!! I was so happy to see that all 7 made it!! They have worked so hard!!!
I think he really explain his original plan but those changed because of fans demand and also because all of 7 members finally proved that they're really fits together and are ready to debut as 7, I think, all of us witnessed it on the last EP that they managed to find their on colours & blends well together! He is softer now, unlike when Bigbang's time where he really excluded 1 trainee out.

Of course the suspense about who might be cut helped get attention on the members and the planned group. It could be that YG planned on the 7 members all along. But I think the actual "final evaluation" or "final test" was really just to see if all of the members could get fan support. It's like one reason for doing it this way would be to give YG an option to get rid of any members who, over the past several months, turned out to be not very popular and not liked by fans. The result was that all 7 members earned a lot of love, support and respect from fans, so they all passed the final test.

7 Things that are subtly implied from this announcement:
1. He didn't lie when he said that BABYMONSTER is never a 7-member group.But BABYMONS7ER is tho.
2. YG almost confirm that Ahyeon is supposed to be the leader of BABYMONSTER. I thought it would be Ruka.
3. YG low key hinted that Ruka is the visual-center of BABYMONSTER when he explained why she's part of the group.
4. Language lesson is a crucial part of the training system since Pharita was chosen over Rora and Asa for her fluency in English.
5. YG didn't want to waste her effort of giving Rora her name since he planned to make her standout with the next YG girl group to debut (or Black Label girl group).
6. Asa is too much of an all-rounder that it made YG come up with the idea of using her as a benchmark for his Japan girl group project.
7. Rora and Asa are roommates for a reason.
The position of the members are also almost announced
1.)Ahyeon ,Ruka, Chiquita -Rapper
2.)Pharita,Haram-Vocal
3.)Rora-Main Vocalist of the next YG group
4.)Asa- Face of the next YG Japanese group
But I think it would change into
1.)Ruka,Asa,Ahyeon-Rapper
2.)Pharita,Rora,Haram, Chiquita -Vocal
5.... YG officially trademarked the name 'Babymonster' and 'Baemon' (name for the other new girl group, maybe) 4-5 years ago, in 2019/2020.
Ruka is so talented like look at her rap and dancing skills. She can be the main dancer with ease. I would be pissed if they only promote her as a visual.

I think the purpose YG did it that is a marketing strategy by introducing them so that the fans fall in love with them and want them but by adding the elimination element creates tension like an example of a kid want to buy 2 toys but the parent only allow them to buy one, this creates a situation of which is important but also increasing the tense feeling of "can't live without it" feeling. Also, he played a good marketing method by reasoning why RORA and ASA did not originally get in the final line-up before later adding them is to preview for two possible girl groups ( Japanese group and the black label girl group possibly) that hints on what to be expected.
Haha YG is a prankster sometimes. I was already cursing in the live when I saw only five. By the way Duke why you did not react to Episode 8? Hoping you can react to it. 🙏🏻

Chiquitas potential is incredible. Remember in blackpink all of them trained from 4-6 years. Less than 2 years of training and then to debut at 13 is just mind blowing. She really reminds me of Lisa but potentially with even more talent.
I wonder how much of this presentation can be taken at face value. Did he really intend the first 5 and really bow to public pressure? I feel he knew very early on it was going to be 7 and dragged out this announcement for clicks and views. Yeah maybe ot7 was the oublics choice but make no mistake the other 2 are in the group cos theyre just as good.
