We were in a long distance relationship from Los Angeles to Sweden for 2.5 years, and although it was challenging at times, it worked out because we followed the advice we're about to share with you.
Today with FaceTime, social media and cheap international air travel, it's easier than ever to be in a long distance relationship. So don't give up! Hopefully the tips in this video will help your relationship be successful as too.

Evan Thomas make a video of you guys visiting the IES krokslätt school in mölndal
apartment tour
a video about education would be great! e.g. the quality of schools, universities and the opportunities that come with it
a QnA, I feel like we now very little about you two
know
I am in a long distance relationship, Australia and Sweden for 3.5 years. I’m finally moving to Sweden next week! 🤩
how nice girl! I did a long distance relationship between Stockholm and Barcelona, for two years and a half as well and i finally moved to stockholm. I've been living in Stockholm for more than a year now! welcome to sweden!
Just don’t move to/stay in the southern part of Sweden. It sucks down here. Move to/stay in the northern part, there all the good stuff is :)
Great tips and thank you for posting this video.
I met Jayne while standing in line to see the Price is Right in Hollywood. She attended Stanford and I was on short three day weekend trip from Harvard. We started speaking to each other in line and when we got seated we found ourselves sitting next to each other. During the show, I told her this must be fate and told her I had a feeling she's sitting next to her future husband. Her response" in your dreams". Long story short, we started dating long distance and once a month we met half way in Milwaukee as she had a relative to stay with. BTW, she was called down that day and won a car and I told her I must be good luck? We now have two children and she now believes it must have been fate. Love your videos, Steve and Jayne
wow what a fun story. Awesome that she won a car too!
If I was doing a long distance relationship with someone that looked like her I would have jesused it across the ocean to see her
Thank you so much for sharing the tips!!
We can really relate to this😂We did two years of long distance from Stockholm to Dallas and now have both lived in Dallas for two years! It is hard, but if you're with the right person and you communicate and trust each other it'll work out😊Such a great video!
This was rly helpful, thanks!
Very helpful video. Will need more videos about relationship.
I hope I can make it with my crush. She lives in Stockholm.
Also your channel is great! Keep up the good work! 👍
Thanks for the great tips! I have met this wonderful Swedish guy and he was supposed to travel to Malaysia to see me in June. But due to the current circumstances, we have made plans to meet in August. I am so so excited to see him for the first time :) Your stories made me feel so positive and we have made future plans together too. Please stay awesome, love you both! Perhaps we can meet in Sweden one day! :D In the meantime, stay safe and take care!
My boyfriend lives in Sweden and I live in the US so I get it completely. I can’t wait until the pandemic is over so we can finally be together, this has been rough but doable if both people work and make the relationship a priority. Thank you for the tips and insight.
This is great. Thanks guys!
All of a sudden, this video would probably be usefull to millions of couples !
I’ve been in a long distance relationship for over a year now. It’s actually been wonderful.
your tips are really good; it's about having common vision. you both hooked your lines to the same point; short term and long term so you were always on a course to converge--life then conformed.
Thanks for watching Jonathan, please subscribe to see more :)
I am a Swede and I'm in a distance relationship too! Fortunately for me, she lives in Sweden too but 500 kilometres away. Anyway, I always find it interesting to listen to other distant couples sharing their stories so I subscribed!
You guys are awesome! Keep going :)
thanks Anu!
such a sweet set of tips! You guys are great. I"m curious how you met and came together.
Great advice you 2 :)) I was in relationship with my Russian girlfriend for 2.5 years and unfortunately we didn’t survive the distance of being apart:(( Trust is a very big one ... my memories of our trips together were amazing and I will always cherish those times:)) Life and relationships have many ups and downs:)) Keep up the great videos... cheers from Vancouver B.C :))
Being as how this post is old I am not sure you will see this. I enjoyed your thoughts! I am from a little north of Santa Barbara Calif. and my wife is from York Pa. We were what was called in the day pen pals. We did everything that you mentioned in your video except seeing each other every 8 weeks(I wish) We have been married now for 36 years. I just found your content, keep up the good work. We now live near Caribou Maine
Well we are on 6 years LDR
Saudi Arabia to Australia ,
And we only saw each other twice for 5-8days last 2015 and 2018,and the next time that we are going to meet each other is next year.Great vlog there! :)
wow that is a very long time! I hope it works out!
Not sure which video you talked about it but Wettex are amazing! Got some here in Oregon and now getting my friends to try them. Wettex should sponsor your videos!
Tropical_Papi I love Wettex!
One of the best couples really

well, tip number one is to be a wealthy tall attractive guy :P
Wish you the best
Would be dope if you did a video about friendships in Sweden compared to friendships back in Cali. Have you made any close Swedish friends? I’m from San Diego and have been living in Stockholm for almost 5 years and learned a lot of cultural differences between the two countries. I’m just curious to hear your experiences.
I haven't made many Swedish friends. Actually none haha. I hang out with mostly Australians.
I an a swedish fan who lives in gothenburg good job i love your channel
I'm a fellow californian fan living in gothenburg
Hi fellow Californian!
thanks!
Im a big fan
I subscribed and turned on notification
It's interesting how he avoids eye contact with her.
How did u go on that much vacation with only 2 weeks vacation from your LA job? What do u do now in Sweden?
Just a question to Evan. How did you get used to the time diff of suddenly being 8 hours ahead i mean for example 8 am here n sweden is about 2am in america, how did you cope that
You look like Patrick Dempsey!! Julia is gorgeous!
Sweden is a nice country a cold one but it is quite nice
interesting you mentioned australia since i live there, I have had the possibility of having long distance relationships but the distances just have seemed like it was going to be a too much of a problem. If i went to sweden it would be a 40+ hour flight with 2 stops, that is a long distance if you wanted to see each other more than maybe twice a year,
It's also three times more expensive to fly to Australia compare to LA from Sweden.
On the map you go to stockholm😅
haha ya I know, I Googled "LA to Sweden" and it was the only one I could fine 😆
@@EvanThomas Varför inte googla USA till Sverige då så får vi se vart man hamnar
Can you do a video about pros and cons about going to school in Sweden vs going in the States?
Good idea, maybe Julia can do that since she has gone to school in Sweden and I have not.
@@EvanThomas I don't know how good your swedish is, but maybe you can do a video of Julia writing down some swedish words and you will try to pronounce the word and guess what it is?
1st like and comment😀
thanks for watching Melisa, subscribe to see more :)
I had a teacher in elementary school named Amy Rodabaugh, I wonder if you're long lost relatives?
@@EvanThomas Haha not sure🤔 and yes I'm subscribed😃 love your channel!!! Thanks for posting!
Hey guys! I just recently discovered your channel. Hubby and I are considering moving to Europe. We’re looking at Portugal. How did you guys meet?
This covid 19, flight closures are not good for ldr. Very challenging times.
yes indeed. Stay healthy and safe!
10.5 hours difference and can only meet at the most once in a year with some uncertainty to that too. Very very hard for sure!
yes it is difficult! It will test the relationship. But it can be done.
How do you two have the kind of money and vacation time needed to pull off like 6-7 trips per year?
Would love to know how you two met? 🥰
good video idea! :)
I’d like to know that too!
My boyfriend and I are currently doing the long distance thing until I can move there. Any advice is appreciated. He's much prettier than me and I worry he'll realize that he can do better lol.
i also have same problem
hopefully you can work it out :)
How did you guys meet?
Great tips. A naïve query. How did you guys find vacations to meet every two months? In Sweden, I know, you get 6 weeks of vacation a year. But in the USA it is even less, is not it? :(
We would do long weekends. I also worked in freelance so I could make my own schedule
You will get the silver play button at the end of this year
that is my dream!
Hey can you give me a shoutout
A video about Gothenburg would be interesting
have you seen our video about "Why GBG is Better than LA"?
ua-cam.com/video/_xg6pnIdGD4/v-deo.html
@@EvanThomas yes but I meant a real video shot in various places in Gothenburg that you as a foreigner discovered since you moved there.
@@larrybxl5406 good idea Larry!
Long distance relationship from Gothenburg and india 🌟
You guys are so cute. I love you
Thanks for watching, please subscribe to see more :)
Are you planning to stay in sweden permantly? Love you guys.
at least for a few more years yes, then off to warmer weather somewhere in the world!
@@EvanThomas come to Portugal.
@@nba6124 that’s where my husband and I are looking to move! 🇵🇹
I'm coming to Sweden disabled and can not work, therefore, I feel like I need to me highly wealthy to live there lol. Perhaps this type of subject would make a good video for you.
How did you guys meet? 😊
You must have great power of imagination and be someone with lots of patience to prevent or control Vulcanic Eruption to survive your emotion. If I want to eat something Now, then it must be within an hour on the table. I do not know, building the factor of patience in your mind would be that good. I could not survive long distance relationship but I can not either Save Money. It must be something to do with metabolism. If I cannot eat something within an hour, I will forget that joy. Offcourse it is probably something Me. I can survive not eating For Weeks.
This really helped kwksudhd
She training him good
You are really cute couple 💗😊
thank you!
Thanks
How hard was it for you to move to Sweden from the US?
Jessie Lepisto Evan is also a British citizen so he has dual citizenship
I just started a long distance relationship and even though we are only 1.5hours apart it's really hard 😟. We can go near 2 weeks without talking and I always seem to feel like a constant disturbance in his life.
Any advice?
hmmm, why do you feel like a disturbance in his life? You go 2 weeks without talking on the phone?
@@EvanThomasyeah we have gone 2 weeks without talking before.
I don't know why I feel like that. He makes me feel like that I guess. I'm not a priority in his life.
Talk to him and tell him you don't feel prioritized. Communicate and set up clear guide lines on how you are going to manage your long distance in the future
@@juliarosen4394 I've tried to talk to him about this stuff and have told him that communication is the biggest thing for me, but something always seems to interfere.
He's close with his family and something always seems to happen with them.
I don't know anymore. I feel like I'm being switched on and off .
I don't know how much longer I can hold out
1
😀
where do you live now??
Marry that girl
I agree with your sentiment, but that's not necessarily how it works in Sweden. Starting a family and not being married is perfectly normal in Sweden. Some get married, some don't.
@@syntaxerror8955 well it's right in God's eyes to get married and have children. Else don't have sex before marriage
Nothing wrong with clingy
0:10 That's not Gothenburg
It's stockholm. It was the only map I could find on Google :)
Even Afrodites descends from heavens and gives me her love, in no way I'd write a love letter. That's a thing born of impossible
I hope you two get married
we are engaged :) we have a video about it
The map is in Stockholm Sweden😂🤪
Haha yes I know, when I googled "LA to Sweden" it was the only map that came up hihi
Evan looks like the type of guy who constantly needs to fart
:(
lol
To be honest: It is a wrong form of relationship. Specially if that female looks like that lady, main thing that connect Man to Woman is the sex. If you can constantly postpone that desire and replace the whole action with just phone calls, then you must be someone who feels lonely and have problems with social connections with your own direct environment or somethin. Building loyalty happens only if you see each other frequently. An Dutch saying says: Uit het oog, uit het hart. Human psychology can be vast with weird variables.
Pro tip: Keep Jesus Christ in the center.
