Love the video. Just done this as my first paddle but in reverse, starting from Dewsbury. That portage was challenging, especially on my own. There was a group of young kids asking if I had fallen in before. I said I had lol just in case they were thinking of helping me but they turned out to be a pleasant group enjoying the river. That Heron is a tease, every time I got my phone out for a picture he flew off. Better luck next time!
@@richardtaskerfitness5006 Thanks Richard, glad you enjoyed it. We're just about to upload another in the same area around Mirfield. Thanks for your support 👍
Hi Ruth, it was lovely to meet you both too. Thanks for your encouragement. We are new to both videoing and paddling! We were hoping you might message as we are really keen to know how you got on at Thorn lock at Wakefield?
@@abcpaddlers1193 we did a bit of climbing, found some footholds on the wall on to opposite side to the towpath, then pulled the boat back to the towpath with a rope. It was the worst portage of the whole trail!
@@ruthfoster850 Wow, well done, I don't think we would have attempted that. We are planning to paddle the Lancaster canal next year so that could be interesting. Have a great Christmas.
