Yes and I am so glad I managed to get it on tape in the mid-90s (and a later, better quality in 1998 and 2003/4). Just wish I had a better camera then. There is no audio because I never intended these to be shown to anyone, they were just for my recollections and memories, so it's me just mostly talking about my personal history with these areas over top of 80s music playing!
that was fun. I'll bet when you did that you never imagined you would be able to place it on a format the whole world could enjoy. btw, u went past my grammas house 1401 w Harrison. it's no longer there
Ok kept waiting to see my car or truck I lived on 12th & Hays back in those days .hung out at Sandy's secrets where my wife was the bartender .. sweet Susie ... cool video .. thanks for the memories .flash back .them were the good ol' day's
You are very welcome. These 90s vids were never really intended to be shared, I made them primarily for myself, but I am glad others are liking them. The other vids in my "Our Milwaukee" playlist were specifically made to be shared. I was going to do others with a 360 camera this past year, but the virus made that difficult. Hopefully this year.
Thanks for sharing,I grew up on s 15th and Rogers was 18 in 95 when you shot this (Mom n I still lived there)...wow does this bring back memories...i was by ny old hood 2 summers ago and took pics...hope to see more from you👍
so many memories at most of the streets..not to mention the old chocolate factory..my dad lived across from it for 20yrs..that might have been me in the street.lol..I was 13 at the time...wow..I remember when it burnt down...and all them house up harison on the creek side are gone..thanks for the upload
This is awesome. I think this might be '94 though as the Modjeska marquee shows "Blown Away" was playing; the Modjeska was a second run theater and would have gotten the movie late in its release but it still wouldn't have been '95 yet I'm guessing --- the release date of the movie first run was July 1st 1994. There's no snow on the ground so it's probably not January. I'm guessing it's October or early November '94 based on that. I could be wrong but I think it's fun to try to narrow down the day this was filmed. Thanks again for posting this: it's so awesome to see my old neighborhood around the time I was living there!
Actually, given the car I am driving, this would have to be at least 1996 and before 1998, when I got an 8mm camera like in the other videos. Couldn't say when, but probably spring given the rain, but it could be early fall too. I filmed some other things in 1995 in Milwaukee, but I think these street vids were not from that trip, so had to be from 1996.
@@thelostblokes4773 Actually, now that I look at the hood of that car, I think you may be right about 1994. The car I had in 1996 had a big crack in the windshield and this one doesn't, and I had a totally different car in 1995 that wouldn't look like either. I would have to search my memory, if I can, for when I might have made this trip, likely fall of 1994 but I can't recall right now. I think this is more likely Sept/Oct though instead of Nov as I usually didn't go back to Milwaukee during winters.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here but the streets looked A LOT Cleaner then! I go down these same streets now especially along the freeway and there is Insane amounts of Trash and Fucking Garbage all along the fences and side of the streets. OH, the old courthouse annex. Too bad there was no Whale Wall. I lived near Howard & Howell back in the 80s & 90s. Milwaukee was always pretty cool back then. And affordable. I'm still on the southside but getting ready to move. Today Milwaukee is changing for the worse, more crime yet getting expensive.
I left off the sound because it's mostly me talking about what I remember and also playing 80s music, so it would get taken down due to copyright if I left it in.
@@david-lm7iu it's definitely not like the 90s. But like every place, it has its goods n bads. I doubt you're missing anything here in Milwaukee, besides family n friends.
Nostalgia. At the time, I had been away from the city for a number of years. I was big into video stuff, so a friend had a full-size VHS camcorder at the time and I borrowed it so I could preserve memories of the city. Glad I did. There is sound, but it is noisy and its mostly me talking about things I remember and there is also 80s music playing in the background. So I left all that out figuring it might risk getting the video taken down from copyright issues, plus my rambling.
Quite interesting stuff, but...wow the quality. The material itsself looks like it was taken right after WW2. Anyway, I would love to go outside and find the world in the condition we´ve had it in 1995, again.
Yes the quality is Potato, but this was recorded almost 3 decades ago on a VHS camcorder that itself at the time was years old (and borrowed - I was poor and couldn't afford to buy equipment), then it was transferred to another tape, then captured decades later into the computer. It was also a personal log, and never really filmed with the intent to share, but there is almost nothing like this from this time period, so I decided it was better to share low-quality than not at all. And yeah, what we wouldn't give to dial back to the mid-90s in many ways.
