  • The unboxing and initial setup of the Xtreme Technologies XLink BT HD BlueTooth Cellphone to Landline telephone adapter. This product is similar in concept to the Cell2Jack device, which allows you to use a traditional landline phone to make and receive calls through a cellphone via BlueTooth.
    This unit alleges to have superior sound quality to the Cell2Jack device. The initial testing performed did show that the unit does offer a significant increase in audio quality compared to the Cell2Jack device. However, this does not lead to the conclusion that this device is intrinsically superior to the other--in fact, this XLink BT HD has several shortcomings when compared to the Cell2Jack which I will discuss in a different video.

    AT&T is discontinuing the landline. This will be a hardship for many people. Thank you for sharing.

      That sounds like misinformation. True copper lines may be going away, but the home phone form factor service will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

    Just installed this in my cabinet shop. Installed perfectly and easily. I have a loud bell and flashing spotlight so I can know when the phone is ringing while using loud equipment. My touchtone phone now works with the shoulder rest on the hand set and the bell/light works. Will also hook up remote cordless phone and maybe my fax and answering machine. I switched to cell phone because ATT was going to charge me $165 a month for the business land line. I now pay $36 with 2 year contract and new iphone13 for 99 cents a month. Highly recommend this product. Money well spent.

      It's a shame how unreasonable the cost of a traditional landline has become. These will not work with a fax machine.

      @@JordanU have you ever listened to a fax transmission over a land line? It's tones. Kind of sounds like the old 1200 baud modems connecting over land lines in the olden days of Commodore 64.. The fax machine then turns them into data of on or off to print the fax. How else would you send a fax via h a telephone line?

    This is very useful, thank you. I think I will go ahead. Here in the UK we are being forced off traditional landlines due to "ditial voice" and the whole analogue network is being shut down (in London we have to move in 2023). We will be able to plug a landline like my corded landline into back of our modems over broadband and keep the same telephone landline number but I bet the quality of the line is not as reliable or as good as traditional landline....just ordered one.,

      Did you buy it? I wonder if it works with 220v, additionally these older pulse rotary phones also required incoming 50-60 volts of DC and AC current, i wonder if this device is capable of pushing it to the phone to make it ring.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  7 місяців тому

      @@easterneurope451 I'm sure you could get a power supply that would work with 220v. It is rated to have enough power to operate the ringers of the old rotary phones, though I have not personally tested this yet.

    This device uses Bluetooth HD Wideband audio rather than regular Bluetooth hands-free audio, which is where the HD part of the name comes from. Panasonic had this on some of their 2018/2019 link2cell models, but it was later removed.

    • @n1kkri

      Does the Panasonic work better than this device as well as the cell2link? Does the Panasonic also connect to your existing home landline wiring so all the phones in your house will work? Are you limited to about 10-20feet range from the Panasonic cordless for the bluetooth connection.

Would you know if the audio quality is better on the Panasonic or BTLink and similar units like the BTLink ? thanks

    Interesting that there exists an alternate product now. When I initially found the Cell2Jack I'm pretty sure it was the only device of its kind; some people mentioned a different product but it dated back to the late 00s and I wasn't sure if it would be compatible with newer Bluetooth versions on newer cell phones. Does the official marketing specifically call out the Cell2Jack or was the quality comparison just discussed in reviews?

    I have the previous two models and I have noticed that it sounds clear on a good old fashion rotary dial phone than on the cell phone. Curious how the HD version compares. This has also unfortunately created an annoyance that I have yet to find a cordless phone that actually sounds decent. And I don't know what you mean it doesn't do caller ID both of mine that do caller ID name and number. There's even a test mode that shows the version of the firmware using caller ID.

    How is the background noise compared to the Cell2Jack? I currently have a Cell2Jack but it's difficult to use because there's a loud background hum/whine which makes it difficult to understand whoever you're talking to.
