American trapper lore will always have a place in my heart. There is something quite alluring about living a mountain man lifestyle. And as always, your skill is amazing.
What beautiful carving you do. I just found your channel a hour ago and I have to say, wow you are really good at everything you video recommended for us. I've been talking to others around our age and so far the same old question keeps coming up with us, like who will use our tools when we are gone. I hope there are others who love doing this type of stuff and will they carry along with our crafts and do you teach others, are anyone knocking on your door saying please teach me because I have tried many times but I don't find hardy anyone who wants to learn. Not even my own family wants to know my tips, secrets, and all my knowledge i have learned during my life and from other elders i learned from many years ago. People today have their boses looking at their phones and not looking outside at the beauty we call mother nature. I truly hope you are able to find and get yourself a Apprentice for you to teach before you're gone. Because simple fact is, we never know when our time is up. It could be tomorrow, or it could be 5 years from now. We just don't know but it will be a sad day to know you were not able to teach anybody because they did not want to learn from you. Worst part is i know you are like myself and we both have so many tools we purchased or made ourselves over the years that has helped us do what we done to make alot of beautiful things. An ive seen many of my elde5s who passed away and before I could get to their children to stop them they had gotten rid of everything and of the time basically gave it away to just clean it out so the property could be sold or sold by lock stock and barrel. So you an others reading this, if you haven't yet you really need to make a list of all your stuff and add a price tag to it all for the kids because if they don't plan to keep it, you don't want your heart and soul tools that you cherished all your life be sold for pennies or gave away, an worst thing is being put in the trash can. An i have tools that i made an I've never seen anything like it before. Its been over 3 years since I got to see inside my tool shop. I have no idea what is even left inside it. I do know i have 2 guys in my family who got rid of thousands of dollars worth of my stuff and they gave it away. They sit it out by the road with a large plywood sign that had Free, take it all. 10 or 15 minutes later one of them looked out the window and said everything is gone including the big sign. I asked them what exactly did you put out there, i wanted to beat them hatd and I told them thats it leave from here and don't come back. They said we was only trying to help. Yeah I seen how they was writing down everything they could see inside my house. They not getting anything from my house here. They don't deserve it. Dont let family do you like they do me and they can't wait to get all my tools. I've joked about if i have to I'll give all my guns, tools and antiques away before they get anything. I hated it when I seen their true colors as my momma would say. All my life I lived right and helped everyone I seen who needed help. An for the past 22 years here I am in a wheelchair and unable to xhange a lifht bulb because I can't stand up. Anyway share the Love, because Love is the glue that holds everything together in our Universe. Once you learn that and true to it, you have what is called unconditional Love in your heart and your faith will move mountains.
@@terrydouglas2777 Terry, l’m so sorry that this is happening to you, it really sucks. One of the reasons I wanted to do this channel was to try and help others who were interested in the old crafts. So far it’s been going really well with lots of folks telling me that they’re going to give it a try. It’s my way of passing on information to willing minds.
Thank you so much Joe! It’s great to hear from you, I hope all is well with you. Are you in the states? Hit me on messenger, l’d like to keep in touch.
@StockmanOriginal Gee; I was in the middle of Mr. Ballen's stories.. Happy as well that you took the time to answer, like always; fans are very important! I just got back from California. Looks great you can get a lot of hours into a piece like that but if it comes out good it’s worth it. I never know if they are going to come out ok or not until I get to the end. Thanks Brian
@@plainnpretty You are right about that, I quite often have doubts as l’m roughing out but usually things come together as I get down to the finish line.
