She had it…. They did’nt do her right at that label. She was literally Brandy & Monica fused🔥💯💪🏾 All because she didn’t have a Clive Davis like machine. Always have a spot in my heart for her. She was dope💯💐‼️🔥💪🏾
Ive been looking for this song for about 20 years and i just found it this morning. I used to ask around, look online, google different artists in the 90's. Low and behold i found it today and broke down i can't front. 96 was a dope year for me and i dont need to search for anything. I am madd gassed putting this on repeat. God bless my era!!
When she came out with this song, I instantly purchased the cassette as I could relate to the lyrics. Before watching the video, I thought it was strictly about a romantic relationship gone bad. Imagine my surprise when I saw the video and it was about an absentee father. My 16 year old mind was amazed as related to the video concept, too!
I've been trying to find this song for a long time. I am glad that I clicked on every song, otherwise I would not have found this video. Her voice is amazing, I also love this song. I'm here on Friday May 10, 2019. Who else is here in 2019?
Her voice was strong probably the best among her peers (Monica, Brandy, Aaliah, Mya )and definitely had the looks but she came out last in a crowded field. She had some serious catching up to do in the popularity department. My pet peeve is all the songs I heard from her(this one not so much) were samples from other recent hit songs other artist made popular. That's just lazy and taking the easy non creative way out.
Reason why I brought the album was lots Boyz were featured on her sound track for don’t be a menace!. And she drop some good gems on her album I gave her five mics cause it’s a classic .
I liked her as artist, she had great vocals. It's sad that around this time, Brandy, Monica and Aaliyah were rising the charts, too many competitors. I do also believe the video might have been too strong for listeners she should have focused on a partner instead of using an absentee father.
Had the label treated her right God knows where she would have been....her voice was better than any female artist of that era....with the exception of Whitney and Mariah
If we are being honest: She was aesthetically appealing, had chops... BUT.... She didn't have hits. She didn't have songs. This is her best song and what Brandy, Monica or Aaliyah hit song can this song compete with??.... Exactly. She needed better writers. Her career would have gone WAY different. Give her "Angel of Mines" and see where she would have landed.
I Love This Song So Much 🥰🎶💗 Oh Yh In Case If No One Didn't Noticed, *Mona Lisa* Played Special Guest On The 90s Nickelodeon Show *"Kenan & Kel: Season 1, Episode 10"* As Amy.
Mona & Monica had similar singing styles. Unfortunately Monica beat her to the punch in terms of album releases & success, thereby eclipsing her shine & fame. I believe mona was a teenage prodigy of 16-17 here in this video. 🤔
She went 2 college. She released a jam song "Peach" 🍑 on da "Woo" soundtrack. Obtained a Degree. Then sang da Hook on "Girls" by Cam'ron. Then disappeared.
She has a nice voice, but her vocal arrangement for songs is really bad. I have no idea what this song is about and I heard it. There is nothing catchy.

Whoever Dislikes This Video... That Means They Don't Care About Real R&B Music. PERIOD!!!
Do she have any music after this...or live performance
Ronnie Head Yes
🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
I love this song one of my favorite songs I still have this CD in my room 💛🌹💛🌹💛🌹💛🌹💯💯💯💯

LOL. You couldn't tell me ✋🏾😤 I WASN'T in my own music video when I was in my room 🛏️! I used 2 practice ALL of my faces in the mirror 🪞 😆!
God miss the 90s. Just was a vibe
Tell me about it 😢, like you said .......THE VIBE.
My high school years. It was a very dangerous time, but a very fun time to be black. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. . . ."

Mona Lisa’s soul-stirring vocals! What a true gem!
2024 still bumping this gem
Back when singers didn’t do lap dances, twerk, and throw it back. They just sang.
It was right around the corner though, if not the female rappers(Foxy Brown Lil Kim) definitely were out smh.
just saaaaang! At 16 years old!!
That satanic culture took over.

She didnt have the right people behind her like Brandy and Monica.

Probably the one she didn't want to sleep with
R.Kelly

She look grown asf here for a 16 year old.
Right

Before Aaliyah there was Mona Lisa...and before anyone argues look at her other videos. Dress, dance style, etc
Ummm Aaliyah came out in 1994, Mona Lisa came out collaborating with The Lost Boys and dropped her solo album in 1996.
@@leonation89 thank you I was about to correct him. Yes aliyah was first I remember buying age ain't nothing but a number back in 1993
