Placerville spends much of day in dark from outages caused by snowstorm

- Highway 50 remains closed Monday at Placerville through much of El Dorado County, which saw its share of snow overnight. Sacramento resident Todd Thomason was on the side of the highway in Camino, putting chains on his vehicle. "I don’t even know if the highway is open so this might be all for naught,” Thompson said. All for naught it was. Thompson was trying to get Echo Summit. Road officials have Hwy. 50 closed from the Placerville area to Meyers due to conditions.

so dangerous for everyone who cant fend for themselves in the cold with no power. what a nightmare. im actually so happy i grew up in poverty, it made me super resourceful. these ppl that grew up spoon fed got no clue what to do when the lights dont work. crazy.
Gas stoves can be lit and used....light those candles folks! Put a tent up in the house for the kids to play and sleep in 😁👍

Ever member of the state legislature who voted to ban gas powered generators should have to spend a few days in the dark and cold with no power.
Good luck charging those electric cars.
brutal weather and it is really bad and dangerous to be out of power. I am sure most residents have generators to be safe from this cold weather.
Haven't you heard, the state has banned the sale of gas powered generators this year.

Too late. Thousands of us bought gas powered generators in the last couple of years because of PG&E's stupid Public Safety Power Shutoffs or PSPS (where they turn off the electricity for days on end for imaginary wind.)
