For me "For the Roses" is her best album, every song is great and some are heartbreaking such as the closing song about Beethoven who went deaf 'Judgement of the Moon and Stars (Ludwig's Tune)'. Imagine being a music composer and losing your hearing; Joni imagined it and wrote it down. 'Lesson in Survival/Let the Wind Carry Me' hurt my heart. 'Electricity' is a fun one though and the single 'You Turn Me On, I'm a Radio'.

Yes, I saw that too .. It's something that I see done quite often by great artists who are used to performing live, and they are as you say, in tune with their audience .. They don't just plough through their songs, but can adapt to the circumstances at the time .. Wayne

It is kinda funny, cause I remember Janet Jackson’s cover too, but Janet wasn’t yet five years old when Joni Mitchell wrote this song. I remember when this one first aired on the radio, I was not much older than Janet, I guess, but Joni’s song were a big part of my youth!

Good reactions . I am 70 and I feel like I am sharing memories with you , thank you for that. I also note I am gravitating towards healing and love by watching videos of my memories. She wrote this song regarding something that happened on the island of Oahu. In the middle of the city now is an enclosed area filled with the most amazing tropical trees and flowers. Some of the tallest and largest trees I've ever seen. It is surrounded by a wall and you must pay to see these trees that are now very uncommon on the island of Oahu. If you go to Hawaii, you must see this garden of beautiful trees and tropical flora and fauna. On the wall of the old office you will find an article, now yellowed with age, about this song and why Joni Mitchell wrote it.
