Thank you for being kind to Redcar. It's the poor cousin to neighboring seaside towns and often gets bad press. This little town has spectacular beaches, petrified forests hidden under the sand and beautiful views. Again thank you for your take on little Reeds scar ♡
You're right that Redcar does get a bit of bad press - but on visiting I was thoroughly impressed with the town's history and seaside views. There's certainly much more to Redcar than many people know :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi, I'm thinking of moving to Redcar, but I need to find work. I work in warehouses and I was wondering if there are any warehouse industrial estates in Redcar? Thanks!
Yet another quality tour of one of the favourite stomping grounds of my youth. I hope the region can recover from the industrial decline of the past few decades.
Thank you so much! It means a lot! Redcar is a great place even though it's been through some tough times - hopefully more people come round to seeing its great heritage rather than the years of recent decline :)
Wow! There's seemingly more and more to Redcar than even meets the eye - very interesting to hear, so thanks for sharing with us :) Thank you so much for watching too - I really hope you enjoyed the video!
Thank you so much for these videos. I am living in Australia but lived in the North East of England for 6 years till 2002. I’m a keen walker and hiker and have made many of my own UA-cam travel videos. However, I recently had major surgery so I’m grounded. Through your videos I’ve had time to visit places I had overlooked when I lived in the NE. Thank you for the research you have put into these videos. It is excellent work and I’m loving walking with you. Thank you and take care. Dave
Redcar is famous for It's "yellow top" ice creams, local signature speciality. Also the kerbstones along the promenade are made from local dark blue limestone with white "devil's toenails" fossils embedded in it. Wow the tale about the Norwegian ship was amazing.
I didn't know about the ice creams - and I certainly didn't know about the kerbs! Thank you so much for sharing, Redcar is a fascinating place, and I was enthralled when I first heard the story of the Berger, it's an incredible tale indeed :) Thank you for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
You're welcome! And thank you very much for watching - Redcar is a fascinating place and I'm really glad that this video brought back some nice childhood memories for you :)
Seeing it through your camera lens, particularly the beach, doesn't instil many fond memories of childhood day trips on the bus from M/Boro but I'm pleased it is finally getting another chance to regenerate. A year or so back there was an ITV 'special' about how the locals were bemoaning the death of the town, how there weren't any jobs, no decent shops and how the place was desolate! I think it has always been the case, where central government is concerned, that anywhere north of Watford Gap isn't worth investing in. That's such a pity. Anywho, as always, thanks for the upload ... and do take care with the traffic all around you!
Thank you so much! As you say there is more and more regeneration going on in Redcar, I've visited again since making this video and the old cinema is gone now in exchange for a widening of the Promenade :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm very glad you enjoyed the video, and I will indeed take care on the roads!
@@LetsWalkUK What I didn't mention in my original comment was how as a child the massive amount of hideous looking seaweed which littered the sand really put me off. I don't recall it being as prolific in Whitby and Saltburn or Scarborough. I think Robbin Hood's Bay was riddled with the stuff too. Like marine triffids, hahaha.
There's a new cinema being built to replace the Regent. Walking past today it looks nearly done. Thanks for a good view of my home town (although I was born 230 miles south).
Originally from New Marske just a few miles away, I spent many times in Redcar in the 60s/70s and back then it was a great Town and I have good memories. Don't know what time of year this video was made but it looks absolutely dead, can't ever remember Redcar so quiet.
Thank you, many happy memories of living in Redcar from the 70's through to the 90's. Amazing how some parts of the town are unrecognisable and some haven't changed a bit.
It's always amazing to see how some parts of a town change so much and others stay the same for years, even centuries! But I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed the video, and that it brought back some nice memories of Redcar from the past :) Thank you so much for watching!
Nice walk in the town of Redcar. I enjoyed it very much. I like the sounds of the seagulls. Very beautiful and interesting. Can't wait to see more soon. Have a great weekend 😀
Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! Redcar is a fascinating place and the seagulls do give it a nice atmosphere - just make sure you protect your chips as you walk down the Promenade :)
Nice work! Great video of my hometown 👌 was good to see the regent cinema still standing in its final days before demolition 😔 I have fond memories of going there in the 80’s to see rocky 4, gremlins and ghostbusters. When you visited st Peter’s church you should have panned around to the left to get fisherman’s square in shot aswell 😉 there is also the remains of an old windmill there aswell 👀 but a great video all the same 👍 👍 type in Redcar windmill in google and check out the first image it’s a gem especially the guy sat on top of it 👌
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video, those memories of some great 80s blockbusters at the Regent must be wonderful. Thanks for the tip on the windmill, I'm sorry but I just didn't know it was there 😅 But I've looked it up and you're right - another fascinating part of the Redcar's history :)
I'll link this excellent blog post I found about the windmill so that everyone can see too: www.hidden-teesside.co.uk/2015/01/11/the-three-windmills-of-redcar/
I hope you have a wonderful time! And I really hope you're in Redcar on a warm and sunny day, it makes the town that extra bit more special :) Thank you so much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed this video!
I left this place to move to Lillehammer Norway and obviously I can’t say I regret that one but but I definitely don’t hate the place now as much as I did growing up there. Hopefully it improves financially, culturally and socially.
It's a great place for a day by the beach - and particularly when the sun is shining, there's often a great energy to Redcar :) Thank you so much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed this walk!
Ha ha counties and borders in Teesside can be rather confusing indeed - but I think Redcar can be very proud of its triple identity of North Yorkshire, Cleveland and Teesside :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
Wow! How very interesting, it seems The Hub really is a hub of activity in Redcar if you'll excuse the pun! Thank you so much for watching the video, I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video - I'm looking towards adding some audio commentary in the future, so do stay tuned and I'll remake this walk with a running commentary :)
Redcar, once transformed into a second world war scene in the film atonement and other scenes filmed at south gare where the beach meets the river tees
I was born in warrenby till the steelworks closed it down and the village dissapeared the seafront I know well little ernies amusement hall was our meeting point often and till 1962 the pier dancing I believe 1shilling and 6pence admission tuesday evenings
Some great memories - those prices seem worlds away nowadays for an evening by the seaside :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!

Thank you for this. I know Redcar has been struggling for a while but you keep you town so nice and clean. It's a credit to the people who live there.
There's a council worker in a top to bottom fluorescent suit with a push up agon and a picker and he keeps the High Street spotless. Top job!
A place I've never given much thought to before. I'd no idea that there was so much to it. A very enlightening film.
Also the Dunkirk beach scene from 'Atonement' was filmed on Redcar beach.
Wow! There's seemingly more and more to Redcar than even meets the eye - very interesting to hear, so thanks for sharing with us :)

OMG! IT'S NOT YELLOW TOP! IT'S LEMON TOP! you've just offended all locals with two words
Thanks for this. I miss my home town and find it difficult to get back now. I really enjoyed this...brilliant 😊
I kind of miss it too. Is my home town, but it’s too far to get to.
Thankyou ! Redcar was and is my home town as a child in the 60s and has many happy memories !👫👫👫🌞😃🇬🇧🇳🇿

Visiting it soon - the seaside is always a winner - and hopefully find a good chippy too!
Looks like a really charming place!
Beach, racecourse, steelworks, unusual mixture.
Very much so! But it makes for a really interesting place to visit :) Thank you for watching!

What an amazing beach. The wind farm is a eye sore though.

My fave place been on hol couple yrs running here its fab

Nice to see you use the proper County name of North Yorkshire. We'll done. And not something that was abolished in 1996. 😊😊👍
Ha ha counties and borders in Teesside can be rather confusing indeed - but I think Redcar can be very proud of its triple identity of North Yorkshire, Cleveland and Teesside :)
Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
This is so cool! The Hub is the home of UA-cam’s Katnip. She got me interested in Redcar. What a beautiful place to live. Greetings from Minnesota 🙂
Wow! How very interesting, it seems The Hub really is a hub of activity in Redcar if you'll excuse the pun!
Thank you so much for watching the video, I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)
I think Redcar needs to build a new pier and put a bunch of lights on it m light it up like a Christmas tree !
They used to race supercharged Bentleys and the like on the long stretch of beach in the early 1930s 😮
Really good video, personally i prefer a running commentary but still good.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video - I'm looking towards adding some audio commentary in the future, so do stay tuned and I'll remake this walk with a running commentary :)
One of the local Councillors told the people of Redcar that you would hardly notice the Wind Farm as it was too far out to sea.
Just like I remember.

You missed Paccitos 😋
I have noticed that cars do not park the same way as the traffic flow. Ie some are nose to nose. It is illegal here.
Redcar was always cold….
In the little fruit stand 2 minutes in that’s me mates grandmothrr
Camera was making me sea sick bouncing up and down all the time.
Went to Redcar sea front today, I thought I was in India or Pakistan
Slightly depressing ha
A shadow of it's former self, such a shame. I don't like it as it is now.........
Shouldn't be travelling to these locations! While on lock down it's non-essential travel and it's breaking the law! Just saying.
