Thank you so much for the detailed instructions-I’m retired now after 30 years of teaching and quilting has become my passion. I appreciate all your tips. Your work is beautiful, and it inspires me to try. Thank you again, María 🌷
Great video! I'm learning to thread painting now and have your apple bowl pattern from your book on my design wall. It is my next project! You make this look so easy!
I keep coming back to watch, it's part of my getting ready routine for thread painting. (I'm currently working on your Hibiscus pattern, btw.) I can't find anyone selling Lickity-Stitch, including your Etsy site. Have you found something else you like?
I just finished your zinnia pattern (which I loved and was very easy to follow). I was wondering if you would normally do all the lavender parts first, they switch colors and do that part next instead of constantly changing colors for each petal...or, was this just done in this way to show multiple colors on a shorter video?
Hi Melinda, I found your video at just the right time I think. I just purchased a 590, had an 1130 and this is what I want to learn. Quilt art is so fascinating to me. Where do I take your classes? Is I quilt on the Bernina site?
I like to hand stitch around edges.I measure out the placement of the stitches first, marking them with a bic round stick pen (the ink from this type of pen doesn't wash out or bleed).North American Indians measure out the placement of stiches before they hand stich traditional North American Indian garments.I'm afraid to use a sewing machine.
No stitch length, this is all free-motion. My hands and the speed of my pedal are making the stitch lengths. I have a class on this at, iQuilt.com called Renegade Thread Play. Thanks for the question.
So great to see this! Beautiful!
"..the winding of the bobbin is a blessing, not a curse..." 😂😂😂 I will repeat that mantra when I sew from now on😜

LOVE the freedom of the threadplay! I am so looking forward to this class at Houston Q F 2016!
Wonderful detailed instruction!! Thank you!
Such a great lesson I was wondering if you ever use a verigated thread
Sometimes. It only works in green. Otherwise it looks like mud. I want light thread on light pieces and dark thread on dark pieces.

they don’t make Lickity Grip any more
I love your work! I have been a fan for years! I want to take a class in person, do you have a schedule for 23 or 24? Thanks for sharing!
I'm working on a new schedule for 2024.
Melinda your even stitches amaze me! How do you stay so constant? My stitches are either to tiny or to long, I just can’t get them right.
There is a trick for regulating your stitches. I teach that in my Thread Play class.
I could watch you all day but damn it I have to vacuum.
Remember “vacuuming” is WAY overated😈!

I also will use one color all over the quilt. i was just show changing colors for the video.

iQuilt.com is where you can take my classes at this time.
I always say you cannot sew with shoes on even in took my shoes off in class happy to find someone that’s agrees with me
i do. i need to feel the vibrations and it helps with my speed.
Same here!
unless this is reversible, why the same in the bobbin? Seems a waste. beautiful work.
if my tenion is not quite right, you wont see another color of thread pocking up, plus you have a beautiful thread painting on the back. Melinda
Ok....love the design....now then, what machine are you using? How big is the art? (Quilt)
BERNINA 750 QE. quilt is 28x28”
Lovely, thank you!
