    Interesting what you said about adjusting your magazine. I had a hunch that the skirts may have been getting damaged by the magazine, so I machined up a little nylon jig that ‘ clips’ in on the breech (instead of the magazine) of my streamline. It then allows easy single shot loading by gently rolling in the pellet in with the index finger without the fiddly fumbling around. It works a treat.

      The difference magazine tuning makes is very minor, but all the small things added together equal greatness

      Nice to have some machining capability, isn't it? I have a little shop myself, (port small 2-stroke gas engines for a living), that is just the right size for a gun smith shop, (Little Tormach CNC mill and a manual lathe). I just don't know anything about gun smith work. :)
      Production or poverty, that is our real choice. Always was, always will be.

    I keep a cleaning rod in my kit with a mop on it. I mop the barrel every time I refill with air. This keeps the lead dust down. I let my barrel go a little to long with out a mopping and the shots looked like a shot gun blast on a target. Mop the barrel and the groups got tight.

    I had issues with the same mounts you have on my Crown and Optisan where the vertical turret was maxed out and still shooting low at 50 yards,so got a set of FX no limits which are brilliant.

      Theres something weird about the turrets on the optisan... sometimes I'll turn mine up for a long shot and they dont wanna move so I'll put them back and try again and it works the 2nd time. Same on windage turrets. It's a great scope but it's not without its weirdness

    For tip number 3 never double torque if you're going to torque something back it off ever so slightly then torque. If you keep torquing you will pull the threads.

      Wise words. I havnt really been using my torque wrench on my crown. I just make sure it's all snug , usually with the short end of an Allen key. Any more then that and I rekon I'd blow the threads out lol

    Thanks for your videos I’m really enjoying them , I have a question why do you get a better shot from a single pallet other than a magazine PS I’m new to our rifles

    • @meatheadmarksman2013
      @meatheadmarksman2013  4 роки тому +1

      The magazines have a spring in them that spins the pellet carrier inside the magazine and it puts pressure on the pellet probe behind the pellet, this pressure changes as the mag empties and is inconsistant. Its a very very small thing but it all adds up if you are looking for the absolute best accuracy

    I am the kind of guy who uses brake cleaner to clean many metal parts from oil and such, and kill just about any bug in my shop, (with a good aim, I can shoot a mosquito in the air and stick it to the wall. lol). Since I can remove the liner, I am tempted to clean the barrel with brake cleaner and compressed air, repeated a few times. No doubt, that will get all the lube out of it.

    Hello, I enjoy your vids. I have recently bought a 25 cal Impact and have noticed a weirdness across the chrony and was wondering if you had this problem and how you dealt with it. I have it tuned to around 900 fps with JSB heavy's with 135 bar and have noticed my first shot are 60 to 80 fps slow. I've been thru a tin of pellets and havn't hit on the combo yet. Any thoughts? Thanks

    • @meatheadmarksman2013
      @meatheadmarksman2013  6 років тому +1

      Gday mate thanks for watching! The first shot or two going slow is super common, it is known as "cold bore" shots. They are still usable as long as you take not of how much the point of impact changes for those first few shots. This even happens with rimfire and center fire guns and is normal. What is the extreme spread of muzzle velocities your getting? 900fps is alot of speed out of only 135bar reg pressure for king heavys!

    • @larryjames2656
      @larryjames2656 6 років тому

      Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have this thing all messed up now. Just went downstairs and shot a string, It's back where it came new at 120 bar right now with hammer spring, not quite maxed on max, after throwing away the first two shots 1st 792, 881 876 868 858 808 810 848 806 858. All over the place with 25 king mII heavys. I'm a bit confused about harmonic tuning, From what I read it seems like it's mostly dependent on reg pressure, going up and down looking for the tightest group. Wouldn't the hammer spring change the harmonics too? I've been mostly working on the chrony, Should I be starting at the range first working on the reg pressure? Thanks Uncle Hodge...

    • @meatheadmarksman2013

      @@meatheadmarksman2013 I've watched your video 3 or 4 times. I set my reg at 135, maxed the spring and set up the chroney. Had a laptop and excel ready. Never did get the wild up and down swings, just shot slower with every 1/6 turn out. Acts like I need a heaver spring. Did shoot pretty consistent at 140 bar and a full turn out at 850 fps or so with heavy's. I'd like to get closer to 900 so I'll keep trying.

    • @meatheadmarksman2013
      @meatheadmarksman2013  6 років тому +1

      @@larryjames2656 I rekon you'll need 150 to 155 bar to get 900fps mate. Just for reference mine is about 147bar and the gap is 15.75mm between the hammer wheel and the carrier when you move it across. Thats got me 870fps. Probably a better starting point then the sub 145bar reg pressures. Just double check the manual that came with your gun before going over 150bar reg pressure - also make sure you keep an eye on your bottle gauge to make sure you actually have enough air to keep tuning, it's easy to forget to recharge

    Hey mate I was wondering, what birds can you hunt/kill with and air rifle in Victoria? Cheers

    • @meatheadmarksman2013
      @meatheadmarksman2013  6 років тому +1

      Hey mate I'm a Queenslander so I cant really speak with authority on the subject but I highly reccomend you go to www.gma.vic.gov.au and also download the Victoria government hunting app for your phone. I'd imagine with legally hunting things with an air rifle would be limited to small game on private land. There are duck seasons but I'm pretty sure in most cases youd legally have to use a shot gun with non toxic shot. So I'd say youd be looking at non native pest birds, rabbits, rats, cats, maybe foxes and other small ferals on private land.

      It has better potential for accuracy because there is less or no pressure at all on the pellet probe, with a high spring tension magazine it differs from shot to shot

    • @meatheadmarksman2013
      @meatheadmarksman2013  5 років тому +1

      Hey mate thanks for watching! You gotta remember with negative forum posts that fx sells thousands and thousands of these guns and they are pretty pricey cos it's a premium product, so if someone has problems with it they tend to be more upset because they spent a fair few dollars and dont feel like they should have to deal with problems. Which I totally get, but the chances of getting a dud gun are soooooo small. You wont see a whole pile of positive posts because generally if you dont have problems all your gunna post is nice pictures and story's that dont show up when you search for "fx crown problems" I dont think there are any more reliability issues then with other air guns, every make and model can potentially have a range of issues like leaks and regulator creep or whatever else. If your worried about it buy from a local dealer so it's easy to send it back, fx's warranty is good. My 2c :)

    • @meatheadmarksman2013
      @meatheadmarksman2013  5 років тому

      they all have similar potential for accuracy but the thing to remember is the bigger the pellet is the better they perform in the wind. Personally I think .25 is the best all-round caliber for doing most things, plenty of power and doesn't get blown around as much as the smaller calibers and it also doesn't use as much air as the 30cals and bigger so you get heaps of shots per fill.

    Hi ... please, I need your help, I have an FX Crown .25 and a telescopic sight Aztec emerald 5.5-25 x 50 MM, in FX Airguns recommended me to use the regulator between 125 to 130 Pressure Bar , which is perfect, I use a software called Strelok or Chairgun, to help me have more precision at a distance and perfectly matches the distances with the MilDot.
    When I change the .22 caliber cannon and enter all the data to the software, I completely lose the precision with respect to the mildew versus distance, I do not achieve the accuracy that I have with the caliber .25.
    What will be the problem?
    Please, I await your response.
    Thank you.

    • @meatheadmarksman2013
      @meatheadmarksman2013  6 років тому

      Gday mate,
      Are you using the same settings on your regulator and hammer spring for both barrels? I think if your using your .25 caliber tune to shoot .22 caliber pellets it will be too powerful and shoot the 22 pellet too fast. Try shooting your 22 pellets on minimum power on the hammer spring wheel. You will need to shoot over a chronograph and use that information with your ballistic app. If you are using strelock you can tell the app how the 22's point of impact differs from the 25 caliber pellets and it will tell you where to aim without having to rezero your rifle every time you switch barrels

      @@meatheadmarksman2013 Thank you very much for your quick response. I will do what you tell me, I thought I should lower the pressure of the regulator to 100 bar. Do you think it will work ?, or lean more to modify the hammer adjustment wheel to the minimum. Thank You for the Link

    • @meatheadmarksman2013
      @meatheadmarksman2013  6 років тому

      When you use 2 different calibers without completely re-tuning the gun every time you swap barrels you need to keep the tune for the bigger caliber and just reduce the hammer spring tension because the gun will be much more consistent when the hammer spring is set too low then if the hammer spring is set too high. Weird stuff happens when you have too much hammer spring tension. check this video out ua-cam.com/video/xxrDZmB5egU/v-deo.html at 19 :44 I explain this with a graph that shows how crazy too much hammer spring can be. if you are happy with the factory settings in 25 caliber I think that's the best way to go, hopefully that will keep your 22 caliber pellets BELOW 950fps and keep them nice and stable. If you do get the cance to shoot those setting over a chrony id love to hear about your results

      Did you know music is the only form of art that can evoke emotion with no "thinking" involved, (which is why most people dance as if they have had a lobotomy preformed)? So we have some music, (which I did not pay attention to at all), with good information, and you let the music distract you from thinking? Evidently, the music is not the kind you like to dance to. I could see how frustrating that can be for the dancing no thinking mind. I never noticed it. I had to replay some of the vid to see what you were dancing to.
