It's such a pleasure to watch Jon Lord play. In some ways Don Airey is a good replacement, e.g. playing technique, but he's missing the magic big time. Just listen to that intro to Perfect Strangers starting somewhere at 9:00. 11:32 gives me goosebumbs everytime I hear that cord with that sound, what a great moment. Sadly Steve broke his hand a few days before the gig which must be the reason why we've never got an official release of the full concert. I saw it once on television. It involved a teenage guitar player who stepped in for playing Smoke on the Water including the guitar solo. Actually I didn't understand why we got a "Live Encounters" (live in Poland) DVD but not that really cool Montreux gig from 2000 as it has so much more to offer. In fact what you can see here has been released as bonus material on the DVD of the 1996 Montreux performance.
Steve broke his arm skateboarding with his son just a day or 2 before they were to go on tour. The first couple of casts didn't give him the range he wanted so he went to another Dr. and specifically designed the cast that you see. Steve ground down the neck of the guitar right Where it attaches to the body for the clearance with the cast to reach notes he needed for just a couple of songs. The show must go on. As with the other posts, the world lost a true gentleman when Jon Lord passed. He is missed.
ur saying Don Airey aint doing a fantastic work? Jon Lord is and will be the best, but getting Don Airey in after he passed away was the best choice! And they are still going strong!
On the best day Richie Blackmore ever had ....he could never touch Steve Morse in terms of sheer guitar virtuosity !!.....Jon Lord is a keyboard player for the ages !!....Incredible band !!
Agreed Morse is technically more proficient. However, Blackmore is unparallelled when it comes to phrasing and tone. As Gillan has said, Blackmore was a very lyrical guitar player. Morse has done some great things and with him Purple were a great band in their own right. But Blackmore's playing touches me more in an emotional sense than Morse.
Their chemistry is out of this world. Hope for a full release of this show
nice to see again THE UNFORGETTABLE JOHN LORD - m a s t e r of its own class of
keyboarders all over the globe ----- R I P unfogettable mr. Lord.....
JON LORD!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE SORELY MISSED!!!!!!!!
Steve Morse fills in nicely with the Purple lineup. He has some nice solos. A good live album to add to the collection.
John Foley lol there's no one who can replace or fill Ritchie Blackmore's abysm in this TRIBUTE band
I'll take Morse over Blackmore any day of the week
Nobody loves Blackmore more than me but that is just silly Steve Morse was a legend before he joined Deep Purple, he fits in and everybody is smiling.
Steve morse is greatest composer/guitarist on planet. Get over the Blackmore comparison!
Yeah, Morse is great but Blackmore is historic, first shredder, c'mon! Ripping arpeggios in 1970 when Morse was a teenager!
jon lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
still love these Sounds!! Montruex - Smoke on the Water - funky claude!!

On the best day Richie Blackmore ever had ....he could never touch Steve Morse in terms of sheer guitar virtuosity !!.....Jon Lord is a keyboard player for the ages !!....Incredible band !!
Nope the real sound was always these 4 gents and Blackmore.

Es perfecto
BETTER MATCH THAN STEVE MORSE ......NOBODY!!!!
Está genial, pero suban un poco más el volumen.
yaas
Full? Where's the Fools songs?
а где же песня Fools?
WAHNSINN
Steve Morse the worst character to "match" this tribute band... he plays guitar like Mick Mars instead of Ritchie...
Must be the best tribute band on the planet - I've seen many. To each their own.
