Impressed with Martinelli's performance. Sterling is a legend but past his prime now sadly. We should recall Fabio Viera and Reiss back just to have more depth.
You can see why Arteta wanted to sign Haverts for the left 8. His movement into the box from deep to get on the end of crosses could have been a great asset if he could have done the rest of the role well. Unfortunately he plays so safe and didn't have the fight and passing ability that Xhaxa had and we lost the fluidity in our build up play with him playing there - although some of that was also down to Rice not being as good as Partey or Jorginho in the deep play making 6 role and Zinchenko's form falling off a cliff.
Arteta's subs yesterday were absolutely on point. I'm sorry Charles but Timber has been casual for a number of games, he is one of those who when Ben comes back, I would prefer him as a sub. I feel for Sterling, but then again we know how, generally, our Chelsea transfer almost always turn out. Zinny x Martinelli's relationship was incredible. Apart from that little mistake, Kiwior was relatively good.
your comments about sterling are spot on. his lack of confidence, diminished speed and trickery are so apparent especially when you remember his city, chelsae and england performances. my seat is just to the right of the press box and the lack of penetration with quick 1/2's with odegaard and timber compared with saka is undeniable and the comparison is not helped when nanweri comes on with his wonderful "tricks and flicks", pure joy.
Zinchenko usually performs well when we hardly need to defend. Effectively we're playing with a back three in games such as this with Zinchenko our 4th midfielder.
Extra time. Hey guys. Just wondering why journalists never seem to ask the hard question. Do all question get checked or if you asked certain questions would you not be invited back so journalists worry about that or simply they know it won't be answered so they try to be more clever. Sorry for the long question just it seems so friendly rather than getting to the nitty gritty. Keep up the videos guys it helps pass the day at work
EXTRA TIME: Hey Charles and James. Arteta came across quite adament that MLS pathway is as a LB but I can't help but think as he develops he would be perfect for that left 8 position. Do you think Arteta would allow this or do you think he's got him firmly as a LB? Great content keep up the great work
#EXTRATIME - do we think we saw signs that Arteta is starting to address our central approach and patterns of play? Also it looks like Martinelli has received some specific coaching and it has made an impact on his effectiveness.
Interesting that you think Sterling should be given a chance on the left. I was actually going to ask that as an Extra-Time question. I totally think he should, that's where he played the most for City, or if not on the left throw him in behind Havertz as a second striker, a job he's done for England in the past I believe.
I feel sorry for Sterling I think if he was playing once a week over 6 months he would get the movement expected of him but he just isn’t able to playing so randomly - yes he needs to be better but I see glimpses of what he can bring putting defenders on their heels as opposed to a lot of the team who always slow the play down - but unfortunately for Sterling we need execution now
Great win tonight! Very excited to maybe have White back in the next 2weeks (taking a guess here) but will definitely help with Timber and give him some much needed rest. Nwaneri I think for now should be developed as a back up to Saka. He just looks so comfortable on that right wing compared to the middle of the park. Also a good opportunity for him to learn a different position which will just make him even better when he is 21-22 (which is still 3-4years away!) Also I think Rice is playing his best football for us at the moment. He is really pushing up high, creating chances.. putting himself in positions to score but when he defends he is just a dog with a bone!
Martinelli and Zinchenko have great chemistry on the pitch. Hoping to see Ricky and MLS build that relationship with him too and unlock him like we saw against Dinamo
Hey Charles, We have needed more goals from our midfield this season so it's good to see Martin and Declan getting some on in the CL, do you think that we can expect to see more of this in the PL? Thanks for the video.
EXTRA TIME: How many goals do you think Havertz finishes the season with? I say 27 in all competitions Also I think we need to find him a foil (Wirtz my dream) and not necessarily a pure 9.
Our problem this season hasn't been Havertz 's misses (he scores about 1 in 5, same as other strikers apart from Haaland who was 1 in 4 last year) but the lack of goals from elsewhere,. Bar Saka, players like Odegaard, Martinelli, Merino, Rice just haven't scored enough. Havertz is a 20 goal a season striker but contributes to the team, unlike Haaland who is a 35-40 goal a season player but does little else. We need another forward 100% but who can come in and perform immediately as required- rarely happens with January signings. Difficulty is finding a willing seller. Reck9n we'll get a couple of young prospects from South America who's key factor will be surprise when they come on. I think Arteta wants Sesko, but that won't happen till the summer, and he won't jeopardise that.
@@bluavenger2419Haaland only scores goals put on a plate too, but Havertz is exceptional off the ball. Iirc he covers more ground than anyone else on average. I’m not saying another striker wouldn’t help, but Havertz is a quality player.
Getting Ben White back will be huge IMO. Timber has done an admirable job when available but the way he plays it you can tell he’s not a natural fullback. The way Ben supports his winger is fantastic. Underlaps, overlaps, pulling away that extra defender, and putting in quality crosses and cutbacks. Timber doesn’t have that in his locker just yet. Having him fresh down the stretch will be huge.
Totally agree with your comments on Sterling, Charles. I find it very hard to criticize him too much because you can see that this is a player that has lost all confidence mainly driven by his time at Chelsea. At the same time has acted nothing but professional at Arsenal. He was just a desperate loan that we took and it hasn’t worked out.
The guys got themselves in a muddle a couple of times at the back, a better team would’ve punished us. Timber and Kiwior dwelling on the ball, trying to dribble when they’re the last man, just get rid of it!! A good night though, happy to see Butler-Oyedeji eventually get a couple of minutes.
Extra time - I know the big talk is Sesko and Cunha, but for me a winger should be the priority. Watching yesterday I think Kai and trossard can occupy that position until the summer but a winger is more important. Martinelli is our best option but Sterling has been poor and Nwaneri is fantastic but inexperienced in the position. Why do you think in this window a striker is seen more as a priority?
Extra time - Hi Charles and Benjatron, great content as always. Does Bournemouth’s 4-1 drubbing of Newcastle at St James’ Park last weekend give you a glimmer of hope for our Carabao cup reverse fixture? Bournemouth also injury-hit but managed 19 shots (10 on target) against Newcastle’s first choice defence. What a way that would be to head into our Dubai warm weather break…
Extra Time - Hi Charles and Benge, I think edu has left us in a tough spot, the club was probably reluctant to sign someone up top with a new sporting director incoming. I think its a good move for the club, Edu is great at building teams (perfect for forest) but i think we need a different perspective on transfers now its going to be a few key signings to add the extra percentages in key areas. I think Gyokeres is the best solution, but i believe the club wants Sesko. Definitely don’t want Vlahovic and Cunha is too similar to Jesus imo. Do you think the club will get something over the line? (how much do we miss benny blanco, timbers great but weve missed our professional shithouse,)
Hey Charles looking at the new format we need to win that girona game to finish 3rd/2nd it means your likely to face an easier team then finishing 8th and it also has bearing on who you get in the last 8
EXTRA TIME: Afternoon chaps! Just a question regarding the whole idea that, “Mikel’s sending a message to the board...” during press conferences. Why, when Mikel has consistently said that he has clear and open communication with the Kroenke’s (and presumably the rest of the recruitment team) do people persist in saying that? Surely if he wants to send a message - it’s a simple for him as picking up his phone? Personally I think that’s aimed more towards us, to just chill out- they’re on it!
Extra Time: Love the show gents, do either of you have any idea as to why Arsenal take so long to complete deals? I've noticed other top clubs take a week or so to wrap up a deal, while we take half a month of being linked then another month of negotiating. This seems to be a common theme. Is someone poor at their job or are we just a club with limited capabilities? Also do you see us signing anyone before this window ends?
ET: Life’s great after a win init? Arsenal transfer windows are exhausting. Gyokeres, Cuhna, Sesko, Vlahovic and Osimhen all in £60-80m range. That’s the going price for all potential strikers on the market, so if the club is serious about signing a striker, just pick our man, and put the money on the table (add £5-10 bcos everyone knows we’re desperate). We are the best prospect club-wise out of all suitors. And tbh it’s a lot of money for us plebs, but I really don’t think it’s that bad considering what other teams splash. COYG
Hi Charles, your videos are in my daily routine! I love an on form Rice, he changes the whole dimension of play. Do you think kiwior has done enough to show that he can back up either CB? He makes a mistake now and again but he’s solid most of the time
Extra time: 1)what exactly is the injury of Tomiyasu that he is almost away for almost a season 2) looking at how Partey has played this season won't it be prudent for us to extend his stay by another1- 2 yrs till we settle for a solid midfield since Merino( Oddegard n Rice being the permanent ones)has not filled up the void yet.
Extra time- Good afternoon. They have a specialist set piece coach, do they have any specialist finishing coaches? hearing Bergkamp speak this week and his Willingness surely they could give him a call to give a DB10 masterclass on finishing Or Wrighty, Henry, Eduardo etc.
Extra Time: Q/Do you think there's still a future for Kai in midfield? His overall strike rate for the club is good, but if you could channel those goals through midfield wouldn't that be special in addition to a out-and-out scorer upfront.
Extra Time - I'm curious as to why there's been little talk about Jonathan David this window given a pre-contract could be arranged for the summer - what are your guys thoughts? Also, I see little chance of any of our long-term targets becoming available this winter, although I too would love to see attacking reinforcements, bringing Fabio back from loan (and using him!) might have to be the short-term solution...
Extra Time: Thoughts on Martinelli playing his way into form? Thought he looked great last night & had a real zip. Just wish he would cut inside sometimes & take the shot a-la-Saka (not easy though I know!) He can clearly do it to cross. Guess this is a player decision and not Arteta telling him to always go on the outside? 🤔 Great win, get Dubai booked! COYG!
ExtraTtime...Charles do you think there is something wrong with our training/playing methods with all these injuries ,it gets frustrating guessing the line-up each game or do you think modern day players are overloaded with fixtures?
Agree with your ratings Charles, professional and clinical but apart from Martinelli and Rice no one really stood out. I’m deeply concerned about MLS especially if Calafiori isn’t fit for Wolves. Does that mean Zinchenko and a fatigued Timber as FBs. We are screwed if Timber gets injured. I was praying for Whote to get some minutes before City game but looking like he’s not even gonna make City in time. Getting very serious and only in Jan
#EXTRATIME Do you think the club should look at Spurs academy? They have some good talent like Mikey Moore who would be a great fit for Arsenal in my opinion. We rarely see any deals done anymore between the two clubs.
#EXTRATIME If we do sign one player this window, what position is more important, a winger or a striker? I think a winger could potentially have a bigger impact to the whole squad in terms of assists and goals and lifting other players. With a striker, if they don't hit ground running we will just be in the same situation.
Extra time: HAVERTZ is just over criticised, he’s on pace to have more G/A than salah and vini junior last season. 17 G/A by January is really really solid. 3more contributions and he’s on 20 G/A….more than a lot of fan favourites…7 G/A away from matching mo salah and VINI JR last season. 12 G/A away from a 30 G/A season…surpassing his Leverkusen tally(that’s insane I highly doable, considering his tally last season post January)…..the other guys need to contribute….rice, odegaard, nelli, sterling, merino etc….arsenal fans just love a scapegoat…it’s embarrassing….he should NOT be the one scapegoated.(no one should)
ET: Morning Charles & James - at the end of this season, what do you think the club will identify as areas they need to improve on? For me its the squad building - I know we want to buy the best players in every position but sometimes you just need a player there. Key examples when we had to play a 16 year old in goal and also our lack of right wing cover
EXTRA TIME,Tino here, Hie Charlinelli and Benginho! If you had the choice of Bakayoko from PSV, Mbeumo from Brentford and Moleiro from Las Palmas on a permanent deal this January, who would you take? Also I noticed how little its been talked about, but the way Arteta has adapted this team to maintain the levels despite all these injuries is commendable, might or might not be our year but Arteta has grown in that sense and with an injection in the midfield and attack I think we dominate long term, short term I hope we get at least one attacker, two would be even better!
Question for the show, what’s the situation with our key players contracts, are there any getting to that 2- year point which will need to be renewed soon
The loss at to Inter was in part due to decisions by the referee. Not giving the GK punch on Merino and then giving a PK against Merino swung the game. Outside that, Arsenal dominated Inter.
Extra time: Hello gents, Pick one realistic target for Jan window and how high would you go for him? Personally I would go for Cunha. Just think he can pretty much play everywhere across the frontline. I would probably go up to 50-60mio? Above 60mio not sure it makes that much sense anymore.
Hi Charles and Bengey great show as always. Realistically I think we will get 1 signing. Who do you think we will get that is achievable I have a feeling it's Sesko.
With Girona being out of the champions league and still very much in the race for Europe in their domestic league, they won't take this dead rubber game against Arsenal that seriously. It's imperative that Arteta treat this as a cup game against a lower division side to allow the players to rest. Would start Neto in this one.
Extra Time : Its beginning to look like our third transfer window running without significant investment ( the summer was more or less net level) ….. do you share my concerns about the direction of travel under the Kroenkes?
Hi Charles 👋, I hope all is good 👋 👦 ☺️ 👍 😊 🙏. I had every confidence that Arsenal was going to beat Dinamo Zagreb and they did thank God. COYG to thrash Wolverhampton Wanders God willing 🙏. Have a great day Charles 😂. Arsenal rocks 🏆 🙏 🤲 🪨 🎸 😀.
Thanks as always Charles. Curious on your opinion on Sterling. Do you think he agreed to come to us on loan, due to him living in London and coming to us was ‘easy’?
Extra Time. Hi Charles, great show as always! Personally I am more than happy to keep our powder dry this month if it means we get better quality at a reasonable price in the summer, I know we want to win everything now but this season has just seemed off since the start and we still have two chances at a trophy and a glimmer in the league, what do you guys think? Is it really as bad as some fans are screaming about online? For me not at all. COYG
Extra Time. I think letting both Tierney and Zinchenko go in January will leave us too short. Of the two, which would you rather stay until the end of the season?
Extra Time: In a week when Henry & Wrighty were in attendance for the Dennis Bergkamp evening…. Start/Bench/Sell. No right or wrong answer of course but for me it’s Start Henry, Bench Wrighty, Sell Bergkamp.
EXTRA TIME - James and Charles, what do you think of artetas comments on max dowman? Are you surprised by how open he was about his ability. Is this a ploy to make sure he stays? Thoughts
Extra Time: Good day gentlemen. Just wanted to know are we really gonna sign anything or anyone this transfer window besides all these rumours we keep hearing?
Extra Time: do you guys think that it’s worth cutting our losses with Sterling? I know that we are severely lacking in the forward line at the moment, but you feel like he hampers the team rather than helps it when he’s on the pitch, and that £100k contribution to his wages could go a long way in convincing 1/2 players to join with the added funds. It just feels like we’re too far into the season for him to make a true impact now.
All the links this month have been with centre forwards, if a striker isnt available why don’t we try and go for a right winger, as we will need to attend to that in the summer anyway… Could we not tempt mbuemo from brentford for £50m
ET phone home Hey lads, If Yoane Wissa and Garnacho are available this month, should we not be looking at them? I'd love Wissa over Cunha, and if United are selling Garnacho, we should be in the mix. You talk about market opportunities in January. I think they are the 2 to be looking at.
Mathematically not 100% but realistically, definitely yeah. All teams between 4th & 9th would have to win their games, with 9th Villa winning by 3-4 goals _AND_ we'd have to lose by 3-4 goals for our goal difference with Villa to mean they'd push us down to 9th. And we only concedzd 2 goals in the whole competition so far so, yeah, it'd take a monumental debacle from us PLUS the planets aligning against us 😬
I must have watched a different game, Zinchenko seemed to always slow down game, then pass sideways or backward. Jorginho was also guilty of wrong direction football. Sterling looked so poor. Martinelli was outstanding Man of the match for me.
Extra time. Ok straight to the question on everyone’s mind. The squad is exhausted. Injuries all over the place. Players can’t stay fit. How high do you rate our chances at signing anyone? This window has been ridiculous in my view. We’ve wanted Sesko since the summer. We had/have a crisis up front with not being able to score, Newcastle carabou cup/United FA cup. Why didn’t the club go straight in on January first and offer Leipzig 60-70m for Sesko? If that got turned down, offer sporting the 75-80 they want for gyokeres. City have moved fast, signed three players already and are looking for more while spending £200m. Arsenal have just as bad of an injury crisis/and form crisis but have done nothing. Are the owners letting arteta down? It sure looks that way.
EXTRA TIME: Hi Charles and Bengertz Do you think Arsenal will get an attacker on loan assuming Šeško/Cunha prove impossible in this window? I have this (maybe irrational) fear that we won't compromise on our big targets, and given it's been reported that both deals would be difficult to do in January. I really don't want us to leave ourselves short at the end of the window, like we did in the summer.
Arsenal are not buying anyone- The Kroenkes stalling so much when the manager is clearly crying out for help Other teams are making moves and we are just pretending to challenge as usual . It’s been the story for years so why expect anything different.
#ExtraTime - have to say that Sterling performance was a stinker. Do you have any information about the loan terms? I would seriously consider canceling it if possible and using our EPL loan quota elsewhere. Keep up the great show gents. Japi
Unless what I had heard was wrong, _Chelsea_ has to authorise any loan recall. We don't decide unilaterally. We were laughing in August when we saw they were paying most of his wages... They're laughing _now_ cuz we're stuck with Sterling and can't replace him with another loan from the PL. 😐
Do you worry if arsenal sign Cunha this window it will be “job done” with attackers and we won’t get another in the summer? Realistically we need a Cunha + a Sesko / Gyok / Isak etc.
This is the Martinelli we've been missing.
Impressed with Martinelli's performance. Sterling is a legend but past his prime now sadly. We should recall Fabio Viera and Reiss back just to have more depth.
Martinelli is looking really sharp.
Well Reiss did his hamstring in December so prob not him
Wouldn’t say a legend
Think we have recalled him, maybe
Sterling has won everything. Absolute prem legend. 10+yrs at the top with the top clubs.
Thanks for making a good show! - Big fan from Norway

Martinelli seems to enjoy playing alongside Zinchenko, that combination works very well in attack.

COYG!
Martinelli has no shot. That’s the problem.
#EXTRATIME
Do you think the club should look at Spurs academy? They have some good talent like Mikey Moore who would be a great fit for Arsenal in my opinion. We rarely see any deals done anymore between the two clubs.
We need someone to explain the knockout draws, how you get on which side of the bracket, who plays who after the league etc…
Still don’t understand.
Calafiori has become just another Tomiyasu, the way he keeps getting injured.
Martinelli benefited from the Samba music in training.
#EXTRATIME
If we do sign one player this window, what position is more important, a winger or a striker?
I think a winger could potentially have a bigger impact to the whole squad in terms of assists and goals and lifting other players.
With a striker, if they don't hit ground running we will just be in the same situation.
Girona are already out. Nothing riding on it for them, bat a bit of pride in front of their own fans
Plenty of rotation for that game, please
Do you think Iwobi would be a good fit, he could play in any/every position across the front line.
Extra time:
Hello gents,
Pick one realistic target for Jan window and how high would you go for him?
Personally I would go for Cunha. Just think he can pretty much play everywhere across the frontline. I would probably go up to 50-60mio? Above 60mio not sure it makes that much sense anymore.
Hi Charles and Bengey great show as always. Realistically I think we will get 1 signing. Who do you think we will get that is achievable I have a feeling it's Sesko.
Sorry forgot to put Extra Time
With Girona being out of the champions league and still very much in the race for Europe in their domestic league, they won't take this dead rubber game against Arsenal that seriously.
No need for a new striker after seeing us last night. Bags of goals in this team 🤣
I get the sarcasm but we deffinately need a natural finisher in the team.
Bro,😂😮you are having a laugh!!🤨🤐🤯 🤡🤬😡
Great sarcasm, man, lol. This team was chit, not played since late December!
Thoughts
#EXTRATIME: What are your thoughts on the Sol Campbell Google advert? 😈
It was _beautiful_ 😅
Absolutely love it
Merino and Calafiori are crocks, continuously injured and have only just arrived!
Extra Time: Good day gentlemen. Just wanted to know are we really gonna sign anything or anyone this transfer window besides all these rumours we keep hearing?
Extra time hi Charles and James why don’t we see more strikers coming out of HaleEnd I’m sure there must be some good boys there
Couldn't watch the game but I was kinda disappointed to see ode and dec playing the full 90
EXTRA TIME QUESTION: is Havertz underrated?
Extra-time, What does the potential signing of Martin Zubimendi mean for Declan Rice's long-term position at Arsenal?
Extra Time: do you guys think that it’s worth cutting our losses with Sterling? I know that we are severely lacking in the forward line at the moment, but you feel like he hampers the team rather than helps it when he’s on the pitch, and that £100k contribution to his wages could go a long way in convincing 1/2 players to join with the added funds. It just feels like we’re too far into the season for him to make a true impact now.
Extra time - How'd do you think you'd do in squid game?
Extra Time - What Arsenal player past or present most reminds you of Lemmy from Motörhead?
Extra Time - if Sesko and Cunha were the same price, who would you go for?
All the links this month have been with centre forwards, if a striker isnt available why don’t we try and go for a right winger, as we will need to attend to that in the summer anyway…
Could we not tempt mbuemo from brentford for £50m
ET phone home
Hey lads, If Yoane Wissa and Garnacho are available this month, should we not be looking at them?
I'd love Wissa over Cunha, and if United are selling Garnacho, we should be in the mix. You talk about market opportunities in January. I think they are the 2 to be looking at.
Extra Time
Charles & James, are you certain Arsenal will get any forward in before next week friday. Am sure they're still thinking about the back
Zinchenko hasn’t had a bad game this season btw
Sky sports news reported last night they crunched the numbers and in fact we have qualified 🤔
It might of been espn but i think it was sky!
And we only concedzd 2 goals in the whole competition so far so, yeah, it'd take a monumental debacle from us PLUS the planets aligning against us
😬
Would you take Garnacho at Arsenal is Man Utd would sell?
He very much seems to fit the bill and is full of goals!
EXTRA TIME: Hi Charles and Bengertz
Do you think Arsenal will get an attacker on loan assuming Šeško/Cunha prove impossible in this window?
I have this (maybe irrational) fear that we won't compromise on our big targets, and given it's been reported that both deals would be difficult to do in January.
I really don't want us to leave ourselves short at the end of the window, like we did in the summer.
PSG and Real Madrid are in the lower qualification spots. Possible tie with one of them if they make it out of the play off rounds
Raya - 6 (lowest rated starter)
Timber - 7
Kiwior - 7
Magalhães - 7
Zinchenko - 7
Jorginho - 7
Ødegaard - 9 (motm)
Rice - 8
Sterling - 6
Havertz - 8
Martinelli - 8
Partey - 7
Nwaneri - 7
Tierney - 6
Trossard - 6
Butler-Oyedeji - 6 (lowest rated player)
Arteta - 8
Extra time: Charles and James, would you swap the invincible season for a CL trophy?
No. That is the most respectful thing Arsenal ever did
NEVER!!
Extra Time: When do you think we will hear about who is taking over the sporting director role?
Arsenal are not buying anyone- The Kroenkes stalling so much when the manager is clearly crying out for help
Other teams are making moves and we are just pretending to challenge as usual . It’s been the story for years so why expect anything different.
Not another injury please 😥😥
#ExtraTime - have to say that Sterling performance was a stinker. Do you have any information about the loan terms? I would seriously consider canceling it if possible and using our EPL loan quota elsewhere.
Keep up the great show gents.
Japi
Unless what I had heard was wrong, _Chelsea_ has to authorise any loan recall. We don't decide unilaterally.
We were laughing in August when we saw they were paying most of his wages... They're laughing _now_ cuz we're stuck with Sterling and can't replace him with another loan from the PL. 😐
@@zTom_Trust the process eh?
Do you worry if arsenal sign Cunha this window it will be “job done” with attackers and we won’t get another in the summer? Realistically we need a Cunha + a Sesko / Gyok / Isak etc.
EXTRATIME; If Arteta really wants Niko Williams as the left winger, he has a reasonable release clause. What do you think is hold up?
Looks like he was a one season Wonder. We dodged a bullet there.
WATTS GOING ON IN FOOTBALL ⚽️
Extra Time: How much of the transfer problems this window are due to Edu leaving?
And how much of a loss do you think him leaving will be?
