I don't think Melinda meant to offend Jessica... she actually was in awe of her performance... She said, "There is one phrase that I save for amazing, amazing, amazing performances. I don't say it often because, sometimes, it offends people... but I just... I threw out my hands and I was like 'Sing! Heffah!' I mean... Hello! What in the world was that?" She admired the performance so much that in the end, she couldn't say anything anymore, but instead of saying "Wow!" she said "Sing! Heffah!"

I would love to see Jessica take home the title after four consecutive seasons of male winners, but I wouldn't mind Joshua winning. Heck, I'll even take Phillip. This is a very talented top three. Also I was pleasantly surprised to see Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in this episode. Keep up the Sherlock clips!

heffa is a slang that came from a Spanish word "Jefa" it is commonly used in the US among teenage of girls. It basically means "Female Chief". If you are a female and an African American tells you "Go Heffa" it means you a "bossy". It could be a praise or a compliment, it depends on how you perceive it.

A bit disappointed that Melinda did not mention the unusual near 3 minutes allowed for the so-called 'moment' songs. Last season Haley was saying how difficult it was perform songs when they were truncated to 90 or so seconds.
Precisely. And we all know that when a girl is referred to as a "cow" - she is being teased to as "fat/big". However - again - Melinda didn't mean that Jessica is a "cow" - she only meant that she sounded like a "big bodied soulful singer..."

Joshua killed me during It's A Man's World. Just extraordinary and I did remember wondering what he was going thru because he looked so down and teary for his first song.
I actually disagree with Slezak and Melinda on Jessica not moving around on her Dreamgirls performance I thought her standing in that one place put more focus on her voice.
Lady Gaga is actually there now performing in Manila. Don't generalize about all "Southeast Asians".
Louisiana is another nation. Katrina was the first time I knew this. American Idol closes the deal. "America" just doesn't get soul. Plain and simple.

Joshua and Jessica are so far superior in talent to Phillip (who has been "pitchy" in every song this season - yes, even VOLCANO if you compare to Damien Rice's original...)

I agree about Phillip - I'm not a fan of his singing by any stretch but I think "Volcano" was actually really good and earned him that top 3 spot.

I wanted to see a Jessica/Joshua final, put after seeing the hatred comments made by Jessica fans(most from people overseas in Asia) towards Joshua and Phillip I would love to now see an Phil/Josh finale. Jessica fans are despicable and jealous as some of them can not even vote in this country.

I love that episode of Buffy the Vampire Slaye. The dreams are so well done, and the Cheese man. Anyways, hahaha um yeah I hope the top 3 will make it hard for America to decide. Its better that way.

@livnitup100 Yep, and then she was underplayed by the judge's and mentor's pick at the Top 3 round, even I Have Nothing and her winning song Change Nothing was soooooooooo... It was her first original song so I have to give her credit on how she performed and sang it. When they gave her My All to sing I was like "Okay I think they don't want Jessica to win."

A heifer is a cow. In Black culture we use it two ways.
One way is derogatory as in "That heifer tried to talk to my man."
One is complimentary. In the way that you might call a powerful female a bad bitch. So you might say "That heifer sang that song!"

I've been waiting for this Week 17 Review and FINALLY!!!, You two should have replaced 2 of the 3 judges on AI, whom I think are often bias about their Standing O's Joshua. He is a great singer, but common, even his fans would admit that not all the SO that he received from the judges deserved it. I just noticed that they held back on praising Jessica since she got eliminated (but was saved). Maybe it is a psychological tactic thing cause they want her to win..I don't know
1 good performance and Phillip earned a spot in the F3 over Hollie whose been much better for weeks? I think not Slezak.

I think Joshua is good but I don't like growling and words I cannot understand. I am over him. I have never been crazy about PP or Jessica. All my favs are gone so I will not be watching anymore.
