- I will be at the EAS Annual Beekeeping Conference on THURSDAY August 3, 2023! This year's conference is in the Campus Center at UMass, Amherst in Amherst, Massachusetts. (UMass is my alma mater, so I'm extra excited to be attending!) I will be hanging out in the Broodminder Booth in the vendor area for most of the day, but you may also see me milling about and attending a workshop or lecture. Please come say hello and ask for a sticker!
** I will only be there on THURSDAY, AUGUST 3, 2023 **
I really miss the regular bee updates we used to get. Following the progress of the bees was my favorite content on this channel.
Me too, jim was the primary person who influenced me into getting involved with Beekeeping. Its sad to see how things here have dropped off.
We need a bee update!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss the bee content, it's why I originally subscribed. I liked that the channel and videos were all about the different hives and queens. I loved seeing inside the hives and getting updates on how each hive was doing, their offspring, the different cups, and so on. I understand that he might be over the bees and colonies and wants to focus on other projects. I might just have to move on and let go of bee content haha. I just wish he would have said that he is no longer going to focus on the bees. Maybe he did and I just missed it. Alas.
I’m driving from Westchester New York on Thursday just to meet you to say hello and shake your hand. You have been an inspiration and are truly a source of reputable knowledge. You have no idea how many real fans you have out there.
While there's no way in heck I'd be able to make it out there from TX, I hope you have an excellent time. Your content is very enlightening and helpful.
You are at least on the same continent.
Haven't had an update from you since snow was on the ground. How are your colonies doing in Bee Barn 2.0 ?

@@vinofarm A short isn't much of an update on bees? Is there a particular reason why the channel is no longer about the details of the hives/bees? Like you no longer are interested in making that content or you want their success/failures to be more private? or more simply you're just busy with other projects?
Very cool!
Have a great time! Wish I could attend.
Beautiful work
Wish I could go but excited for you! Have a blast!
Dang, that is awesome Jim. Enjoy. .
conventions are awesome; doesn't mater the subject, a bunch of enthusiasts meeting, sometimes for the first time discovering other people can talk with them at length about an issue they can also talk about is an addictive happy place. Doesn't matter if its bee keeping, expanded foam products or anime, go and have fun.
Have fun and enjoy the conference. All the best.
Thanks for the video
Love Amherst, wish I could be there!
Hey...I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed your channel. Thanks for taking the time to create content for your channel. I have a few hives and you have been one of my virtual mentors. Thanks!
Jim, You Rock! You got this!!
Sounds like a blast. Wish I could go :)
Awesome. I wish I could be there to meet you!
I hope Mr. Vino uploads soon, eager to see his bee barn progress. Have not seen any update for almost three weeks and it's August already, if by chance something does go wrong I want to see what or why it went wrong but I'm seriously doubtful anything would go wrong lol. Wish U All The Best beekeeping year Mr. Vino. UPDATE PLEASE! 😘
Bees are all good. I’m pulling supers this week and testing for mites. Life is busy so UA-cam edits have been too much to deal with. I will make sure the full story is told when I get some time.
@@vinofarm Thank you for taking the time to reply despite your busy schedule 🙏 I hope the video turns out perfect, we will be waiting for your uploads ❤ I did not mean to comment and put pressure for uploads just needed some updates and know that you haven't abandoned UA-cam lol. Hope you have an awesome season sir. Mad Respect.
lmfao you can't be serious? 🤡🤡
I still don't know jack about bees but this sounds like it'd be a cool time - best wishes to all those going!
When I first started beekeeping, was when you were posting all the time. We live kinda close so was always nice to see what you were doing to combat varroa and the winter. Miss the regular youtube posts. Hope all is well.
Need MOAR Vino bees!!!!!!
How are you man ? havent seen a video in a while. is everything okay ?
Wish I could be there to meet you Jim. Have a great time and best regards as always.
I'd come to say hello if I wasn't living in the UK
I miss your updates. I hope everything is ok with you and your family!
Awesome congrats! Here in the south where I live, my local apiary got lucky and the bees bless them with purple honey, I've been enjoying it!
Have fun, bit to far away for me (the Netherlands).
Where are you?.. please give us an update.
great to see you back on UA-cam.
Any new updates on the bee barns or new data
Hey man, I hope you and the bees are doing ok. If you don''t have the time to make content, that's ok, do what's right for you. Also, thank you.
Hope you get feeling better soon
Where are you?? We need updates.
Hope to see more on your Bee Barn 2.0
very cool
Too bad I live on the west coast and won’t be able to make it. Enjoy
Yes, need some updates! How are the bee's, any news on Bee Barn equipment, anything? You got us hooked, now we need our Vino Farm fix!
ua-cam.com/users/shortsGYNCIhIDEo0?feature=share
That's great! I hope you have a lot of fun. I can't make it, though, as I am in Europe, and this news is coming in pretty late to organize anything even if I had the money.
Any updates about the bees coming up by any chance?
Hello from a newbee fellow Massachusetts beekeeper. I love your content for the thoughtful and adventurous approach and solid logic. I hope at some point you are able to pick up the camera again. This is my third year of beekeeping in central Mass and finally, it looks like my two hives are strong enough to make it through the winter. Although I haven't build a beebarn, I have adopted the principle of insulating. Next year I am going to build the larger frames because you have convinced me that a square comb about 20 inches is natural for the queen's laying pattern. Best wishes!
Jim I'd like to say thank you For your inspiration on the insulated The hives I took my Bee world/Paradise bee10 frame And added the R10 pink panther to it I really like it So thanks again I hope everything is OK with you World has not World has seen any posts in sometime
It was nice to meet you there Jim.
You will have a blast and will be completely overwhelmed by how many people follow you. I went to Hivelife this January, was completely blown away and humbled by the amazing people out there. Enjoy every second! Wish I was going!! 🙌😎🐝🐝🐝
Thanks! Great to hear.
I second what Richard said. It will be a great time. With this, your first conference. Prepare to take loads of pictures. It will be a fantastic time.
any updates on the bees? miss watching your videos. as always..... GO BALBOA!!
Makes me wish I still lived in Mass, would love to meet with you
I miss your talking is so long time...keep up greet work.
Man I have loads of questions I would go see you man! Good luck
It's about time for a video jim. Lol. I'm glad you are still kicking.
I highly recommend getting VSH bees. You will have less losses
I have not lost a colony in three years. Thanks.
Super star now good on ya.😂.
Dammit i got excited there was a bee video. Even held off opening it until i had finished up for the day. We need more updates!
Ha! I did too!
Yeah! See you at EAS.
Darn, I missed seeing you.
Where the hell have you been? I hold my breath between each of your videos? No lie. I turned purple!
Cool, the guy behind the counter (Theo) is the treasurer of our Rockwood Park Backyard Beekeepers Club in Chesterfield, VA. Don't think I could make it up to Mass, but I would love a sticker. Maybe I could ask Theo to bring me one.
wish i could :) not enough time for me to make it work, I'm in training for a new job but have fun!
Any regular hive update videos coming soon?
Well I am half way across the world love to be there but this is faster need a up date on the frames and bee yard lol 😂 hope ya have a win for me back to lotto study. Cheers from north qld.
Where did you go? Its been 10 months and no videos WE MISS YOU
Are you going to upload again soon?
Jim! We miss your videos.
Any updates?
you need to go the Kamon and Laurel conference 2024
Are you still using Vermont whey stuff to coat your hives? Do you have to recoat them?
I hope your doing well! But I really miss your videos!
Was just wondering if you were going to attend that EAS since you don't live too far away from there. Haven't seen many updates from you lately. Don't have Instagram or Twitter account so I don't know if you're updating on those social platforms. Glad to see you're up and about I'm doing well. Thanks
I'm hoping you have been just really busy with projects to make any new videos!
I wish i could go... But that's too far. 😓😓😓
Edit: Sounds exciting though!! I hope that you have a blast!!
How did this turn out?
when are we gonna get a update on the bees? really miss your videos, GO BALBOA!!!!
I happen to be coming on Thursday, see you then!
Awesome, see you there!
I just realized that I need to re-watch your videos as I have no idea what your name is!!
This is not a chore, as I do love your video's.
Are you selling your hives built, or are they just patterns?
I think you're a genius like the flow-hive guys for winter/summer bees!
I agree with DrJoe1! Always looking for your updates!
Love and hugs from Dawn Lynn and Larry in Ottawa Canada!
I hope all is good with your family. When you do not post we have no way of knowing if you are sick or what.if you would just post a short vedio stateing you are fine and been bizsy. It would be great.
I am OK. Busy with life and family and lots of home projects. Bees are all kicking and fine, too!
Hope to hear from you soon!@@vinofarm
I”d love to meet you in person, unfortunately it’s a bit difficult as l’m in the UK. Have a great show, meet and greet your fans. 👍
By any chance are you going to attend the North American Honeybee Expo in Louisville in January?
Update please! How was your season? The weather has changed from a 3yr La Nina to now a strong el Nino oscillation per US Gov (noaa website) for Fall 2023 until at least spring 2024. STRONG el Nino. Are you preparing any differently? I'm just on the edges of the dry line it caused in the Deep South US & it really caused fall flow to dry up and be non existent. Beekeepers in my area got no fall harvest & have been feeding since August. However, just above the dry line, they had tons of rain. & Poor Florida will get the brunt of thunder storms/ severe weather this winter, causing a cooler & substantially wetter fall & winter
Where are you. We are missing you and your videos.
Tell us about your experiments you are doing with your bee hive.
what size entrnce opening do you use over the winter?
The 8” wide entrance on the BeeBarn is covered with the mouse guard and that’s it.
hope to get you at HIVEORAMA next year
Jim - would be great to meet you there. I looked at the EAS registration info re: a day pass, but was a bit confused. Does the day pass allow access to any/all of the conference sessions on that day or just the vendor area?
I believe you can go to all the speakers and workshops for the day of the pass, but there are a ton of add-ons and extra events which I did not buy. Like I said, I have never been to one of these, so I really don't know how it works.
Please give up another video bee update! Even just open up one hive!
Greetings from a newbie bee keeper. I started keeping bees by purchasing two nukes this past spring. I have them each in a 10 frame Langstroth hive. I have built a big barn similar to how you’ve designed it. My question now is how and when do I move my bees from my Old 10 frame Langstroth hive into the new B barn? Your help would be very much appreciated. Thanks Matt
We’re at is this place that you’re going to be I’ve never heard of it before and I would be interested if it was close by I live in Oklahoma
University of Massachusetts. It’s in Massachusetts.
Have you stopped doing videos on bees and your insulated hives.
I stopped but I will start again. Spring is coming and there will be news.,
How did the foam do under the weight of the hive and supers?
The weight sits on the inner Lyson boxes. Those boxes are stronger than regular wood hives. All is A-OK.
@@vinofarm oh I thought the bottom board sat on foam?
@@neiltalbot4586 Yes, but it’s static weight. There might be a little compression, but nothing is leaning or falling over.
thanks I really like the whole concept. I am going to try it on one 10 frame brood box and see how it does. If its too crowded I will expand them to the bigger frames. I am in the Ottawa area of Canada. Things get chilly here and then hot in the summer so I like the climate control idea. The bees can focus on collecting honey and surviving winter rather than heating and cooling.@@vinofarm
Where is the videos!
Just a question why can’t you use a refrigerator grate for frames.
You’re going to have to rephrase that. I don’t understand the question.
Do well professor. Many of us love your work. Have fun and enjoy.
I have a quick question could I use a high flow on your design for the longest time? I’ve been wanting to have my own beekeeping, but I was always unsure because I always thought that even what we had before you came up with your new design for your bees I always thought that the wood wouldn’t be good because of the weather changes and I was always worried about like what if the bees were not warm enough during winter but I really love what you came up with, but I also wanted to add in a flow hive?
Any Langstroth super (including a flow hive) will fit on top. The connection point between brood box and super is regular Langstroth.
Hope you're alright.
Campus take you over boss???no vidz???
You need to be speaking at beekeeping conferences, and not just a booth at a convention
I speak on youtube. Ha ha... This event is going to be a hangout.
Are you coming back to youtube? Ever? Its been over half a year! We miss you!!!
There will be a spring update.
@@vinofarmso a yearly update?
@@vinofarmwhen can we expect it?
Crap I just read this and it’s 8/9.
Where you at? It’s been a while. Are you taking a step back from UA-cam?
There will be an update soon. Thanks.
Its March Bro where are you?
Still snowing here. There will be an update once it really warms up.
How'd the Amhurst meetup go? I hope it was a good experience for you! What was your experience meeting your viewers? Do you think you will do it again?
Did you learn anything new at the conference? Did you see or chat with any other UA-cam beekeepers?
It was my fist beekeeping conference. From what I heard, a bit slower than expected, but I met some really top notch folks and loads of people I know on the internet but have never met in real life. It was really nice. I went to this one because it was super convenient (close to home) plus happened to be at my alma mater. I’m not really into traveling long distances for things like this, so I can’t promise my attendance at anything in the near future… but this was a good time.
@vinofarm Excellent! I'm happy to hear you had a good time and connected with other internet beekeepers. No matter the endeavor, building connections and community with those who share the same interest is the key to perseverance.
Hey Jim.....please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you need to be an EAS member to attend the conference. Just wanted to ask because I'd hate to see some of your viewers travel a great distance to say Hi only to find out they can't get in............
Yes. You can’t buy a ticket unless you’re a member. I had to get a membership and then a day pass for $135 total. It’s a lot for a day. I am assuming most people will go to the site and figure that out before driving to Amherst.
That's why it was a little slow. Things are a little tight these days
Wtf is going on get invested over years and now 10 months without update.
I've been dealing with a relatively minor but debilitating health issue. I'm OK, but lack the energy for videos. I'm hoping to post some updates soon.
@vinofarm thank you for the reply hope your better soon
@@vinofarm I wish you and yours all the best and hope your lovely bees are doing well as well.
I get the feeling there havent been updates because of excessive bearding? Although im just guessing :)
Are you suggesting that I haven’t posted a video because my bees are bearding and I don’t want to show that? Because I’ve posted two shorts recently and both of those videos showed bearding bees. My bees beard when they need to. Please get a new hobby.
@@vinofarm Jim! I was playing around! Nothing but love over here, buddy :) I was teasing you because you haven't been putting out content. We love your stuff
@@ryanstreckfuss9590 I'm just busy doing other things. Not hiding anything. There's not anything of interest to share. I have been recording all summer, but when I open hives and they're just "fine" there's nothing interesting about it. Making a video gets to be a hassle and there's already too much content on youtube. Just know that "No news is good news." I'll make a video when there's something interesting to share.
@@vinofarm i understand. Just didn't want you thinking I was giving you the business. Look forward to some content when things slow down or get interesting
Something must be going on with him and/or his family to be gone this long.
He said last month he's fine, just busy
