Eva isn't complex. It's just mostly noise. People over think it because of a bunch of imagery that was thrown in but doesn't mean anything. It's pretty quite simple.

For a parody, it's filled to the brim with low budget, albeit awesome details and props. Also, the actors are pretty on point, especially in terms of voices. If there's a way to really show your love for the wild ride that is Evangelion, now this is it!

That thought blew my mind, that Disney in the early 2000’s had to license Evangelion footage to release on DVD!

Anything that seems like a striaght up canon telling of the story just is, and the recommended order is to watch the original anime series, then the original movie, then the new movies. Eva isn't Fate. There's not a bunch of filler and spin offs. Anything that seems like a striaght up canon telling of the story just is, and the recommended order is to watch the original anime series, then the original movie, then the new movies. It's all considered relatively quality.
