I've owned one of these for 14 months and about 8000 kms and I still love it !! For me the single most important reason for buying it was the all-up fully fuelled weight - 190 kgs. By comparison my previous bike, a Triumph Tiger 955 was 245 in comparable condition, carried it's weight too high and was not inspiring in the Alps on my Italian trip last year. By comparison the Tracer MT-07 is a delight to ride, to ride quickly through a series of bends and big surprise - amazing on fuel. On day to day running I'm getting about 75mpg and when riding briskly it goes down to about 65. The Tracer MT-07 is pretty-much my perfect bike and delights me every time I ride her.
Thanks, lot of useful info that opened my appetite to get one of these. Those roads are really amazing, hope one day I can get to ride there. Greetings from Portugal
Why all the music at the beginning of this vid, do you realise that we never actually heard what the bike sounds like at all !!, if I wanted to listen to music I'd go on MTV
Bruce Reynolds honestly, at 5'7", I'm happy they didn't make my FZ6R shorter - a commanding position and room for your legs is crucial in a touring bike.
Our test rider isn't 6ft 4, but is confident that you'd fit the bike at least as well as you fit the Versys. There's some adjustment in the screen, get along for a test ride and you'll see.
I got a 17 plate and it’s great made even better when I upgraded front and rear suspension yss… I tour Europe with the bigger boys and let’s be honest about it do you really tour at 100mph plus no! I keep up no problem in fact on the twisties am quicker do to the lightness which also makes life easier.. honestly value for money a great bike and not the annoying tag of little first big bike
By most reviews, it's about an 80/20 on/off machine. V-strom 650 would be more like 60/40 on/off. Want more dirt? BMW would be the only dual sport with more dirt-oriented road bikes, before moving to the true enduro. Exhaust I believe is exactly the same as the MT.
Howler Honda My brother used to have an EX500 years ago. Later Kawasaki called it the Ninja 500R in the USA market. That bike could FLY down gravel roads with absolute stability. He'd leave a roost of dirt through 4 of 6 gears going wide open, over 70 mph, and no sign of shimmy or sliding. Something about the geometry and weight distribution made that bike work on dirt roads. 16" wheels too.
Not quite. I'd say it's way more comfortable than an MT-07 but not quite as much fun, simply because it's not as happy to wheelie. It's not as twitchy as an MT-07 either though and feels a little bit more of a refined ride.
@@SuperBikesince1977 not as happy to wheelie doesn't mean at all it's not as fun, it's essentially the same engine, same torque that I fell in love with, combined with the weight of it, she just flies like a bullet. And I don't think you'll spend that much time wheeling 😉
ugly? You're funny...Get a personal look and than come again and tell me its ugly. I've seen it in personal next to the 09 tracer and its almost more pretty than its older brother. And 09 tracer is a very good looking bike.

That view is just breathtaking. incredible.
I hope they start bringing more of these mt-07 bikes to Canada and USA
Me too! They'll probably call it the FJ-07.
Video starts at 1:34 - for those of you who don't have time for completely useless B-roll.

How comfortable is the this bike for the rider and the partner?? Thank you! nice review!
Beautiful bike. Sure wish we had it in the states. YAMAHA!
Great video, I like the Yamaha tracer. How tall are you, I ask for your own sake? Thanks!
Brilliant review
why don't they make these bike for short people?
I am not quite 5'7". I would love this bike for touring, but the seat is higher than the mt07 right?
Bruce Reynolds honestly, at 5'7", I'm happy they didn't make my FZ6R shorter - a commanding position and room for your legs is crucial in a touring bike.
That music, why?
Dream bike
how tall are you? i am 190 cm what are you think ?
Huge bikes are unbeatable on the long road. Pushing them around gravel parking lots is where they loose me. I'm over it.
would you say this bike is suitable for a 6ft 4 rider. currently use a versys 650 for mainly commuting and the odd ride out ?

USA?? Please
Yes!! please!!
When was 700cc considered small engine or small capacity?
For a Vtwin engine it's a little bit small.
@Cj \ctually its an inline 2 or parallel twin
Is it capable of semi offroading? and is the xsr/fz07 naked exhaust size n dimension exactly the same?

i took my cbr 250 on a slight offroad sand track, did ok tbh...

Comon Yamaha, import this baby into the USA as the FJ-07!
John, would you say then that the Tracer is as much fun as the MT-07 AND more comfortable?
