busywl69 Wouldn't surprise me if he was released from his contract. He's a pompous egomaniac, always has been. Just listen to his attitude in the video. I'll give it too him, he did throw some good parties here in chicago and obviously some great releases. Still...he's a dick.

Justin P A lot of guys during that period were, and signed bad contracts to go along with that attitude. probably why techno today is thought of as something completely different now. I try to separate the music from the artist though. I've heard this about him, but hell from all accounts I get about marco bailey he's the ultimate tool but he's booked until 2054 lol

busywl69 I feel a lot of Mikes ignorance towards other chicago artists then/now is the fact that he was the "go between" for artists and promoters. He did bring a lot of artists out for the first time, but that doesn't give you full reign on being a face ass.

But you also have to look at a lot of other innovators from chicago who paved the way too...Hyperactive, Acetate, Frankie Vega, Disciplie...shit those guys brought out better artists and had better relations (still do) but they aren't jag bags about it.

Justin P yeah but these guys should be THE pinnacle of techno and house today. Bad business skills just cursed the music. Junk is selling better than ever just because a few people took some business learning annex courses or something. Everyone just goes for self, you can't expand the music that way. Some of those contracts guys were signing man.......wow.......
Today you still have the same old names from 30 years ago. New legends haven't come about because of the way things were handled during the digital age. Don't get me wrong, I respect and dig the classic artists, and those who have manage to keep themselves relevant by either staying true to their sound or adding a little mayo to it lol. But wow, what kids think is techno and house today.......scary.....
