The worst part about having no power 110 degrees no AC
To anyone affected by this and reading on your smartphone, wet down a towel with cold tap water and drape it across your body. As the water evaporates, it'll take a bunch of heat with it.
I lived in rural AZ (south of Phoenix) for 2 years with no AC and it was 110+ in the summer with humidity because monsoon season. I know all about that, but we didn't get rain like Texas, I was praying for it. It was so miserable, I moved to Maine because I missed the colder climate. I spent years in Alaska, desert is not for me
I feel for the "poorly educated" ha ha not. Living in stupid places is a choice, unless you're stuck in prison. I have never chosen to live in triple digits. Don't need AC/heating if it's 80 all year.

@punapeter if you're talking about Florida, you have to factor in humidity and the heat index. If it's 90 degrees and 60% humidity, that's a heat index of 100 degrees. If it's 95 and 70% humidity (let's say a rain storm coming in) that's a heat index of 125. It's not always about the actual temperature but humidity plays a factor, kinda like winter, if it's 20 degrees outside and 60mph wind, the actual temp is below zero. I've lived all over America including Alaska. I lived in the coldest city and hottest city in America. I was also a mountaineer for 20 years. Weather is one thing I had to study

Just because Houston doesn’t have tornado sirens doesn’t mean this isn’t a tornado- the 2nd in less than a month, it’s time for the city to install sirens to protect its citizens!!!
I grew up 70 miles north of Houston, we had many tornados. No big deal. Just nature doing what it does. No reason for the news cartel to sensationalize it more than it needs to be.

The side of the building that was completely destroyed shows the true quality of the construction company and their workers. They were more interested in producing a quick structural building, based more on finishing the job and getting their pay, rather than spending the extra time, effort, energy and materials to build a solid structural building. All of which would have possibly reduced their profits significantly. A quick word to business owners: Don’t focus on competing with someone else’s ridiculously low estimate costs they may give to be able to do a job. They need to be able to compete with your quality that you build your business on. If you are dealing with someone who is more concerned about the bottom line of cost, over the quality you have to offer, you don’t want their business. Always remember; your company’s name and integrity is on all of your projects that you have accepted to do.
How is it that these places in America don't have high tech alert systems. This is unacceptable in the "21st century". R.I.P to those 4 people; I'm sorry our country failed you 😤.
Not the country, Republican leaders don't believe in science, so they don't have any need for said alert systems in red states. Blue states actually use said systems to make sure people are safe. If you koik closely at the white brick bldg., the bricks were blown out, not into the structure. There is no cross bracing for that brick wall. If the bracing had been there,and tied to the brick wall, this would not have happened .
High wind around a building does NOT blow the wall in. Rather it creates a LOW pressure on the wind side of the wall. The non moving air on the inside of the building is a differential pressure and pushes the wall OUTWARD. In the case of tornado even small tornado which I guarantee this was, it lowers the pressure REALLY REALLY fast and it acts like an explosion. That's why the bricks are so far away from the wall and the cars and gate are smashes.
