I just discovered your channel while trying to decide if I should li in this up from Beautylish. It comes with a palette and liner, so I’m trying to decide if I need these brushes and/or the palette. I love how you revisited these brushes after having them for a while!!

Thank you so much for your kind comment 🥰 I'm happy this video was helpful. I was hoping to do an updated review, but I just haven't had the time. I still really love this set from Wayne, and I think this is a versatile set (at least for me). I heavily use the E1 (all over lid + buffing), E2 (great crease brush), E4 (perfect laydown brush - I need another), and E6 (which is still prickly, but so useful for my PMG metallics in my eye line). E3 is just a little too big and stiff for my eye size and shape and the E5 is a lovely pencil brush but is like many of my other pencil brushes. I did not use the palette and liner that came with my brushes since they were not my colors, but I was able to pick up Wayne's Pearl Moonstone palette, and I think the formulas are great. I hope you love whatever you choose to get!

Yes! I found a similar use for the E6 to push on chunkier shadows, but I still found it a bit pokey. I have some random silicon brush in the shape of a slanted eyebrow brush that reaches quite a defined and firm point. I use that in a similar way to push on the chunkier shadows. It is way less messy, more comfortable and I can get a much finer line from it.

Thanks for sharing!! I can totally see a silicon brush serving the same kind of purpose. The E6 is just so firm that it might as well be a solid surface, and silicon would have a softer, less draggy feel on the skin.

You’re right, my E6 is not soft, it’s a scratchy brush. I use it only to stamp on eyeliner or for my brows.

Yes, I do wish it was softer, but it's great for stamping on eyeliner. 🥰 It would be great for brow products!

This video is so helpful. I recently discovered that I am missing some of my original goat WG brushes and have been trying to figure out what to replace them with. Do you feel like the quality of these brushes matches the quality of his past releases? How do they compare quality wise to Sonia G's brushes? Thanks again for such an excellent overview!

Thank you so much 🥰 I'm happy this video was helpful! I actually do not have any of Wayne's older goat hair eye brushes. I only have three 00/holiday brushes, the dyed goat hair liner brush, and then some of his old squirrel brushes (airbrush, 02, 03, 04). These are difficult to compare since they are pretty different shapes, sizes, and/or bristle types.
That being said, I think his new eye brush set is higher quality goat hair than the 00/holiday brushes that I have. Despite the 00 being (probably) my favorite brush due to the size and shape, it can have a slight prickle sometimes. (Since these were second hand though, this could be due to mishandling or age.) Aside from the liner brush in the new set, his new eye brushes are soft and have no issue with quality. The liner brush is unfortunately quite prickly, but it works very well with my creamy metallic formulas. So even though it doesn't feel very high quality imo, it is very useful, and I enjoy having it.
I always struggle to compare Wayne Goss and Sonia G brushes since I think they tend to be geared towards different things. I do think that Sonia G's brushes are the highest quality brushes I personally have tried, and I think that her materials are a step above Wayne's. Sonia excels at making high quality, precise brushes, but I am often looking for less dense brushes. I really love Sonia's liner brushes, pencil brushes, and her precise squirrel hair brushes. But I would be hard pressed to put together an every day brush set with only Sonia G's brushes since they are so precise and specialized. (Also the shapes tend to be more rounded than I like.)
I think part of the reason I like this "new" eye set from Wayne is that the set overall is very practical and versatile. I could use just this set for just about any eye look that I would want, and so I think it is a great beginner set.
However, it sounds like you are trying to replace brushes. I would recommend thinking about what those brushes did for you. Were they dense and specialized and soft? Maybe look at Sonia G's brushes. Were they less dense and more versatile? Maybe Wayne Goss's brushes would be better. There are also many other brands out there that I don't know much about. I don't think you'll have an issue with finding quality brushes to replace your lost ones with -- I think finding the right shapes/sizes might be the harder objective.

What an incredibly detailed and thoughtful response! Thank you!
I found a good secondhand listing that included Sonia G's Worker M, Builder M, and Soft Concealer brushes which should arrive sometime this week. Hopefully those should give me a good idea of what she is all about. I have the WG eye brush set on order as well because it looks so versatile. It will replace the brushes I lost and give me brushes I don't yet have, so I think I have my bases covered now.
Except I just saw the Beautylish advertisement for Wayne's new The Collector's Edition brushes 🙈 Do you have any plans to review those sets as well?

@@laurensturdevant Wonderful! I hope you love all the brushes you got. Feel free to come back here once you've played around with them a bit -- I would love to know your thoughts on them.
I actually did not know that Wayne was coming out with more brushes. I wasn't able to find any details on the new Collector's Edition brushes, so we shall see if anything piques my interest. Tbh, I probably don't need any more brushes though, lol 😅

@blathering. Haha I completely understand the sentiment. I am trying really hard to only get what I need and not hoard pretty, fluffy things. The problem is, I am just barely getting into fude (the WG Eye Set I got 7 years ago, then had a baby, and am just now getting back into makeup) so how am I to know what I want unless I experiment 😂
Even if you don't end up getting anything from the new WG set, I would still love to hear your thoughts on the information that comes out online. A fude group I recently joined claims they should be avaliable 1/14 at noon...🤔

@@laurensturdevant "so how am I to know what I want unless I experiment" This resonates so much with me especially with where I am with my makeup and brushes. Reviews can help, but you never really know what works for you until you try it. And generally you have to buy it for that 💸 Thank you so much for your kind words -- I do want to start doing videos again once I can find the time!
