LOL, just let one guy do the video, they have different opinions of how much info to give at each stage. I found this interesting and I learned about corn above and below ground. Something was snapping my one collar corn off at soil level, I went in there today and 'jugged' the smallest ones for some protection. It's a small patch, I was only experimenting with the new Astronomy Dominie corn. Thanks guys
Maybe have your script planned out before starting to film so you don't argue on camera...or maybe do more than one take. It's really distracting and makes it hard to follow the narrative.

This is fantastic! Thank you for the comprehensive information. I learned more in the first 3 minutes of this video than 3 hours of other farming videos.
Great presentation. Two knowledgeable grower talking with passion. Your the professionals so I tend to believe you, but I have just been looking at some packets of sweet corn seeds and the planting depth recommended is half an inch as opposed to the two inches you recommend. Any idea why that might be? HGV
1st time planting corn. I planted two seeds every 9” or so. The two seeds are 3” to 6” apart. All my seeds came up. Do I have to cull one of the two plants that are 3”” to 6” close to each other ? Thanks
my corn has 5 leafs and is starting to get tassels its about 4 ft tall but i see no little shoots comming out from the leafs, were is my little corns thy are very green and healthy looking thy are about 45 to 50 days old its candy corn. please help:)
Really old post, but unanswered so I'll give it a go anyway. Dent corn like what's in the video is starchy rather than sweet and not usually eaten fresh. Certainly once it dries out it's too hard for people to eat fresh. It is used for cornmeal, corn syrup, hominy, tortillas, corn chips, etc., though most corn in the US is grown for other purposes. Just like most grains, it needs to be processed in some way for it to be useful for human consumption. I do grow field corn in my garden, but I grow interesting colored varieties instead of plain yellow commercial corn. Those are just as edible, but more interesting if you're not trying (like a commercial farming operation) to squeeze out every last penny of profit. Perhaps surprisingly, if you grow different types each season (it's best not to mix crops by planting multiple varieties at the same time), you will find that different field corns don't all taste exactly the same.
What a suprise in This video So beautifull ,I love 😂real raw informatives video ,( we Dont always have to cutt everything out,if you played IT you got talent )),when we can see that we all trying, and we have different opinions ,hey here is the good news , Our Father did not Leave us people on This earth as orphans Hé Will show us the way what we have to do even Farming
Too much talking, not enough pictures. Because of your arguing, you seemed to breeze through the last info about when the corn actually gets produced and how long you should wait until harvest, etc... very disappointed; there was so much potential with your collective knowledge. 🙄
Why is this dude arguing in the documentary 😂. Discuss that before you do that to someone when you know this is being recorded. Just sounds like one is being a bit MUCH unnecessarily… there’s always a way to do and say things.
That was hilarious. You two should make a series out this. “Arguing farmers”
Thanks! Darren replied to your comment recently on Ag PhD Radio: soundcloud.com/agphd/07-13-18-farmer-friday#t=36:18
It's like car talk but with corn.
Nice, having the person in this video which is 10 years old replying to this comment 6 years later
Legend has it they are wrestling in the corn field
What kind of soil did the plant the corn in?
BrokeCorn Mountain haha
Hard to learn from two pH-D's arguing with one another.
No way to have 2+ PhDs who won't argue 😂
Quit arguing. It's hard to follow what you guys are talking about. It's annoying
I'm trying to learn how to grow corn, this started out promising and then got really awkward!

I felt like I should just shut the door and walk away while you two work this out!
You can tell they're great friends. Yall call it arguing i just see debating cause neither one of them took it personal

I gave up after the second argument.
I thought they were just trying to be funny in the beginning but then the arguing got too tense 😂
I'm happy with my 4 corn plants in my micro garden. They have tiny baby corn on them currently.
Came for corn, stayed for debate
Such a good explanation and you both have gift to share knowledge
This was outstanding, watached three times, thanks

thank you for the information my friends . .

Too many chefs in the kitchen on this one 😂

I grow mammoth sunflowers at my daycare and sell the rosted seeds for eating.
They're probably now arguing about arguing in the video.
How often should I water my corn plants in my garden
Brian and Darren addressed your question on Ag PhD Radio: soundcloud.com/agphd/05-26-20-flag-leaf-fungicides-in-wheat#t=43:36
Hi can anyone tell me what is the best spacing for sweet corn to have a good size cob, ty!
Brian and Darren recently addressed this on Ag PhD Radio: soundcloud.com/agphd/12-12-17-biological-products#t=42:56
I spaced mine 11 inches apart. I feel that's legitimate. Play around with it. Anywhere from 9 inches to 12 inches I believe is possibly good.
I'm feeling the passion. How is wind erosion managed specifically for corn?
Brian and Darren addressed your question on Ag PhD Radio: on.soundcloud.com/beknS
What is important for maize inter row spacing?
Darren addressed your question on Ag PhD Radio: on.soundcloud.com/F57z9
Good information on top of too much disagreement.

Can your grow corn as a perennial? What do you do after it grows can you just cut it back down when it comes to winter and then will it grow back?
Brian and Darren addressed your questions on Ag PhD Radio: soundcloud.com/agphd/06-08-20-post-harvest-wheat-burndown#t=55:22
nope, sometimes maize grow lateral offshoots but it ends dying anyway before winter

My question is.... if this yellow corn is called feed corn, does that mean is only good to feed animals?
